THis is sparked by another thread concerning professions.  I know quite a few, if not the majority, of the people who are deep into the bdsm dynamic are intelligent going by just gut feeling.

Nows the time to find out.  IQ, while not the best measure of intelligence (I've know some people whos scores say one thing, but who's actual intelligence is way above that in a common sense sort of way)  and is no way a reflection on maturity, it does give a rough enough sort of idea.

Sorry, everyone in my family has very high IQs. I have a daughter who scored 162 while in grade school that has a Ph.D in biochemical engineering and my other ums are no slouches either. I believe the more creative the mind and the higher the IQ, the more we have a greater need for kink and not the run of the mill vanilla pursuits.

The mind is a terrible thing to waste.

I don't believe they're very valuable, but they give an indication of a person's capacity for solving problems, processing information, analysing situations, blah blah blah... My IQ oscillates in the higher spheres, but I certainly don't think it's any indication of my general intelligence.

Indeed, most of the time, I'm a total moron.

I disagree. I think the higher the IQ the more likely a person is going to have the idle time to learn about such pursuits and the earlier they will realize their interest in them. Just look on the other side; I see no shortage of intellectually deficient people there [:o] There is also a difference between being desiring something and having the mental capacity to achieve those desires. Just as in almost all walks of life, the smarter people are more likely to be successful at getting what they want.

Edited to add: Why is there no option for below average I.Q.s (i.e. anything below 100)? This seriously biases the poll in favor of above average results.

I'm actually above average, although I came in a litle low to join MENSA. (It seemed like a pretty dull group, anyway.) But I have found that I seem to be FAR above average in artistic and creative abilities.

Intelligence and other attributes, measured by some test, usually come up short on actually defining an individual's ability. I have an uncle who is only slightly above retarded according to most "fashionable" testing, yet he created his own business, and is quite successful. None of the IQ tests he took ever thought to measure for ambition, leadership, or work ethic.

Kinda funny.. a lot voted but no one has said how they voted. Hehehe. Myself included! [8D] Plus after years of heavy pain meds I wonder if my score is even accurate now. Eeep. I don't think I want to find out!

I have given those tests... I can't take them.  I know all the answers - does that make me a rocket scientist?

But one of the conversations that was had... where would Mikhail Barishnikov score?  All that kinesthetic awareness and ability.... plus the tests are skewed to the white, upper middle class, and well educated.... *shrugs...
