Are the ability and desire for independant thought and decision-making admirable traits in a submissive?

TotalState -> RE: ability and desire for indepentant thought/decision making (2/8/2008 4:00:59 AM)

Of course it is.  It is an admirable trait in a human being, in general.

Are oneliners useful?

Yes.

What motivated you to ask this question?  Is someone telling you the answer is no?  If even the "extreme owner" is telling you that a human being is more attractive than a blowup doll, you might want to step back if someone's telling you submission=mindlessness.

Ask yourself this one, would you rather own some Low IQ of a bitch that can't figure out her ass from a hole in a ground, or somebody smart and able to understand everything you want even if you are not around?

If the house catches on fire while you are work, would you want somebody to sit in the living room chair doing nothing.   Or somebody able to call 911, get her ass out of the joint and deal with what is going on?

I concur.

i've heard a variety of answers from people on different sites that i visit. S/some have said that a submissive should have and use the ability to think and make decisions on her own. O/others have said that a submissive should always do exactly what she is told by her Dominant.

RedMagic1 -> RE: ability and desire for indepentant thought/decision making (2/8/2008 6:56:21 AM)

Those two statements are consistent with each other.  Reread Owner4SexSlave's post for an example.  "But, Master, you didn't ever order me to call 911 in case of emergency, so I just didn't know what to do.  I didn't want to do the wrong thing and displease you."  What kind of Dom would consider common sense unattractive?

ItalianSMistress -> RE: ability and desire for indepentant thought/decision making (2/8/2008 6:58:14 AM)

I dont even think I could bother speaking to someone that did not have the desire for indepentant thought,
I want them to behave, yes, but I want them to be able to have the ability to function without Me

kittengirl8 -> RE: ability and desire for indepentant thought/decision making (2/8/2008 6:58:23 AM)

Definitely. At least, in my experience. (Managed to weed out most of the "Doms" that want a doormat of a submissive.)

Independent thought and good decision-making skills lead to a significantly greater partnership, no matter what sort of people are involved. Family, lovers, D/s, coworkers, etc.

Never give it up for some D-type. I assure you, there are great Doms out there who cherish every part of a sub's mind.

Those two statements do not equate opposing sides of a coin.

I will do anything my m'Lord tells be too because I've already used my independent thought and common sense to determine that I can trust that he will not ask of me that which I cannot do.

He also doesn't expect or desire to dictate to me my every action, if he wanted a box of rocks he would have choosen another girl.

Have to share a true story here, happened a little over 15 years ago.  I came home to a smoke filled kitchen with a molten mess of goo in the oven.   She knew I loved Cherry pie, turns out she had removed the foil pie tin and place the sucker in the rack.   She managed to get the oven temp right though.   Needless to say I was not a happy camper.   The doors and windows were closed.   Tell you what... Dugh! This is when I came up with a new rule.... READ THE DIRECTIONS.  Needless to say this was in fact a short lived relationship, Thank God.

The "husband" has less technical knowledge than an Amish person and I am constantly frustrated by the thousands of dollars he waists, and my inability to help the household with innovations like; solar water heater, fireplace heat exchanger, or even the new screw in florescent bulbs. I am reminded I am here to serve her and not him, but I must still bury my frustration. The household could have saved several thousand if I knew one of his girls was selling a 93 Honda accord ,5 speed manual,! for $300. So I am always sad.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.  Depends on the person and situation.

kinkypuppy2 -> RE: ability and desire for indepentant thought/decision making (2/8/2008 8:03:35 AM)

yes

giveeverything -> RE: ability and desire for indepentant thought/decision making (2/8/2008 8:19:34 AM)

god, I hope I can keep my sense of self while in a relationship of any kind.  Personally, I won't even consider a dom who thinks so little of me and my talents.
