Garden Grove - Sublime

(...)
If you only knew all the love that I found
Its hard to keep my soul on the ground
Youre a fool, dont fuck around with my dog
All that I can see I steal, I fill up my garage
Cause in my mind
Music from jamaica, all the love that I found
Pull over theres a reason why my souls unsound
Its you
Its that shit stuck under my shoe
Its that smell inside the van
Its my bed sheet covered with sand
Sitting through a shitty band
Getting dog shit on my hands
Getting hassled by the man
Waking up to an alarm
Sticking needles in your arm
Picking up trash on a freeway
Feeling depressed everyday
Leaving without making a sound
Picking my dog at the pound
Living in a tweeker pad
Getting yelled at by my dad
Saying Im happy when Im not
Finding roaches in the pot
All these things I do
Theyre waiting for you.

I think we far too often confuse love with lust when it doesn't necessarily have to have anything at all to do with it.

Tigresse, have you read the Symposium (Plato)?

.verb.

Some people do not believe in love.
They believe it is some emotion that doesn’t really mean anything.

Some people are too afraid to say love.
They think it exposes them up to heartbreaks and they fear it’s context.
Some people say that they can control love.
They see it only as a commodity to be bought or sold or stolen away.
Some people waste the three precious words of love.
It is repeated over and over like some mantra that takes away its significance.
Some people believe in only one form of love.
They believe that it extends beyond so many things and ignore the diversity of love.

They see it as a noun. Or they see it as an adjective.
I do not.

I also have this quote, It's Neil Gaiman I think - but I may be wrong.

quote:

"Have you ever been in love?  Horrible isn't it?  It makes you so vulnerable.  It opens your chest and opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up.  You build up all these defences, you build up a whole suit of armour, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life… You give them a piece of you.  They didn't ask for it.  They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages.  It gets inside you.  It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart.  It hurts.  Not just in the imagination.  Not just in the mind.  It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain.

I hate love."

Excellent post and quote (I love Neil!!!)

I have a few new pics on my profile.., once Cm get the issues resolved I'll send some others :)  )

Love is that feeling that you physically have in your chest - that fills you up sometimes and you just want to burst, or that aches when you are missing someone. You must love with your heart and not just your head - or why does it actually hurt there when it breaks?

Love is the look in someones eyes without them having to say anything - the smiling eyes that tell you they are happy to be with you, that look that just tells you everything is going to be okay because you have each other.

Love is smiling throughout the day, when you aren't together, just thinking of him/her and knowing they are somewhere thinking of you.

Love is not just the fun times, but the hard times - being there to pick someone up when they can't hold themselves up on their own.

Love is putting someone else's needs before your own - and not just a sub serving his Dom/me, but the Dom/me wanting to show the sub he/she is appreciated by making him/happy as well.

Love is something you usually find when you are not actually looking for it, and when you find it - it can happen fast - and that is sometimes scary, but worth the risk.

Love is built on trust and communication, and mutual respect. It is being able to tell someone ANYTHING without fear that they will change their feelings about you...knowing it is ok to be who you are.

Love is driving almost an hour when I am cranky and tell you its ok that we don't see each other, but you know that I just needed a hug and a backrub, and coming to see me anyway...thank you b - I love you too.

Love should be unconditional - especially for parents/children. Not a day goes by that I don't ask my kids the question: What can you do to make Mommy not love you - the answer NOTHING.

Pain
Pleasure
Agony
Ecstasy

kittinSol -> RE: What is love? (2/8/2008 1:37:36 PM)

Pain is as far remote from love as hatred to me. It's interesting how different we all feel about it...

More in the pot, purrleezze.

I understand they can be had for a reasonable price at the adult toy store.
I guess the Beatles were wrong when they sang "money can't buy me love."

Ironically, I would say the same thing.  Of course, I don't consider hatred to be that far removed from love.

Love is chocolate. When you don't have it, you crave it. When you have too much, you get sick.

liketophoto -> RE: What is love? (2/8/2008 2:27:04 PM)

Love
John Lennon

Love is real, real is love
Love is feeling, feeling love
Love is wanting to be loved
Love is touch, touch is love
Love is reaching, reaching love
Love is asking to be loved
Love is you
You and me
Love is knowing
We can be
Love is free, free is love
Love is living, living love
Love is needing to be loved

I love that song

LaTigresse -> RE: What is love? (2/8/2008 2:27:47 PM)

Are you trying to tell me you can have too much chocolate?!?!?!?

The horror!
