I'd consider films like Akira Kurosawa's Ran, and Kubrick's 2001, art, IMO.

Creative expression of the human mind, emotions and spirit.

Aneirin -> RE: Art (2/11/2008 4:10:05 PM)

And the sum of all answers is that art, is different for everyone, it being an expression of the artist.

If the veiwer connects with the material spirit of the artist, then they may recognise art.

Jeffff -> RE: Art (2/11/2008 4:13:50 PM)

There is no one true art. R. Kelly, Monet  and Ingmar Burgman have all been called artists.

Art can be specifically defined but I'm sure that's not what you're after here....

For me, art comes in the form of various mediums, such as paper, paint, clay, concrete, metal ect. I also consider music to be art.
Simply put, if it feels like art to me it's art. If what I'm looking at or listening to creates a stirring within me then I consider it art.

Now, for those of you that wonder if I look at my Sir's cock and consider that to be art..... Well actually, yes I do [:)]. The human body is beautiful, especially His!

Aneirin -> RE: Art (2/12/2008 9:52:46 AM)

The Human body is indeed beautiful, perhaps one of the most beautiful subjects in art.  Either that or it is our natural conditioning as humans to recognise the beauty that is ourselves, something which could be due to our reproductive drive.

Could it be that anyone who recognises the beauty that is human through the reproductive desire, is therefore an artist,

is art an expression of the creative energies within us?

Types of art, pornography is art as is erotica, the line between the two is determined by some viewers, others have no line to draw as the feelings the subject inspires is one in the same, the feeling that may be an expression of art.

The difference between Art and Junk?

That's very debatable and in the eye of each beholder.

However, I do know what true artistic talent is.

When the Pope asked Michelangelo to prove his talent as an artist, he drew a perfect 360 degree circle by free hand.

Can Thomas Kinkade do this?

Anybody like any art from the last decade?

I am going down this weekend to make my last payment on a Valerie Parkhurst artist's proof.

I hope she is in her studio, she is an absolutely wonderful and charming woman.

When Ozzy Osbourne was looking for a new guitarist for his band, he listened to dozens or hundreds of guitarists, almost all of whom played songs like Crazy Train.

Zach Wild walked up on stage and played an obscure classical tune on his electric guitar.

He got the job.

Art makes you feel, it invokes a reaction.

A human body alone is not art; a dead corpse is not art. Art is that which brings the body to life with personality. Mona Lisa is pretty plain looking but it is the smile people see in the picture that distinguishes it from a million other similar portraits.

It is said that for someone to draw a perfect 360 degree circle, that person is either mad or a genius. But is there not madness in a genius?

Can't they just use a compass?[8|]
