Sfortzando -> RE: size 0 haters- what's the deal? (4/8/2009 9:01:35 AM)

This is why when I buy clothing (especially pants), I look for brands that size clothes based on measurments. This means I, a. don't have to guess at whether I'm a size 4 or a size 8, and b. I don't feel like a fatass when I end up having to go with the 8. Sizing is something almost exclusively done in womens clothing, and the size zero is a result of vanity sizing designed specifically to target the insecurities of women in a weight and size obsessed culture. It's not so much the size itself that people hate, but the way it artificially creates an ideal size. Actually, sizes in general are artificial and arbitrary, so if we really wanted to do away with the whole issue, we could just get rid of the size system in general and go with measurments. But that will never happen because Calvin Klein knows that if their 30 inch waist is a size four compared to Levi's six, they're going to sell more jeans.
