I knew I was a Master when I could cause an orgasm by moving my fingers.

I feel like there's way too much tied up in the word "Master" to really be comfortable with using it to describe myself, outside of flippant disregard. An enormous amount of subtext, implication, and suggestion that simply just doesn't apply to me. Maybe at some point later on in life I'll get comfortable with the notion of being called "Master V", but not yet.

Born dominant? Maybe, for some folks... and maybe not for others. When most folks meet Kitten and I, they usually think that she's the dom and I'm the sub, because I'm quiet and I take a while to warm up to people - not to beat around the damn bush too much, because I'm shy. I've just about always been shy, except when I was too young to really have much self-consciousness. I definitely wouldn't say that I was born dominant - in my first serious (vanilla) relationship, I was actually much more the submissive one. Dominance didn't come without a great deal of soul-searching on my part, making sure that I was comfortable with actually inflicting pain on another human being (art or fantasy is one thing, but fantasies don't bleed if you don't want them to). When I finally got comfortable with the idea, it came with the caveat that I would never take myself too seriously - and judging from my sigline, I don't think I have yet.

I found it in my love of controlling things that are hard to control, the fact that when I choose to speak on subjects that require action, things start getting done, and in the people who've responded to me and told/shown me that I have control, and I should direct as I see fit, because my direction won't be questioned.

That and the people who've asked me to teach them things... Generally teaching someone anything requires good knowledge of it I feel, so if someone would think that I'm worth learning from, I guess I'm doing something right... Right? :D

I was a slave to three Masters. They seemed born to be dominant. They had no trouble giving orders and expecting complete obediance. I've always had a submissive streak. So I was wondering when  did a  Master first feels His dominant abilities? And what was the first act that convinced You that You were a Master?

When the girl started calling me Master.

I do not believe it is a word we can bestow upon ourselves I think it is determined when you become this to your submissive and if that is the case then I have been and then NOT been many times.

I'd have to agree with this. That would be the main reason for myself too.. I think a lot of people (myself included) read this as "when did You realise You were a Dom" As opposed to a Master, though either interpretation of the topic could be correct I suppose.

I realized that I was a master sortly after my 21st birthday. I liked the idea of being in control. Being pleased and giving pleasure. I saw some movies and read some stories about it. I have been looking for a sub ever since. I will not give up even though I have gone 8 months with no luck.

'Not sure I'm a master, but certainly have a dominant side to my personality.

Growing up playing sports - was generally the captain of our football and cricket teams at various levels/ages.

Work - generally in a position of responsibility relative to my age.

Sex - have always instinctively wanted to dictate the situation.

Life in general - very independent, can't abide others pushing their needs on me - when I'm giving something, it's on my terms.

I realised I was a leader of sorts when I was young - probably 11/12ish.

I remember back in the day, when I was kid, standing on the couch in the living room waving a plastic sword up in the air, screaming out loud "I am He Man, Master of the Universe".   It made my nipples hard and thought to myself, gee there must be something to this to explore... LOL...  sorry, just a smart ass post.

Honestly, there is and never was no single first act for me that I can honestly recall.

Someone said earlier about being dominant and always in control - I want to correct that. Being dominant does not mean you're always in control of every situation. Life does not work that way, and while we may be in control the majority of the time there are times when we need to cede control to another authority - such as the police. This is the difference between dominance and simply being a control freak.

Did you try and chop your cock off with your plastic sword to prove the point that you can do anything you like?.........I know I would have in a similar situation.

For me it was a cathartic moment when I realized that the risk of rejection was inconsequential to the determination of my will upon the other.  Now that does not mean my subbies desire or well being is inconsequential, but rather that they have submitted to the circumspection of my will and have accepted it as their greatest health and well being.  You cannot reject that and remain.  That was when I realized I was completely Dom.  I am not a Master yet.  I have entered the race later than some and many of my skills and abilities do need perfecting as I provide and protect and rule my subjects.  But the quest for Masterhood is electric now isnt' it.
