Yes, I do. Public transportation programs might actually recieve funding, become reliable, and widespread. People would carpool, or walk, or ride their bike. Hell, we might actually see some real progress when it comes to alternative fuels, and green fuels.

I'd like to point out that biofuels such as ethanol from corn actually produce more greenhouse gasses than standard gasoline.

Plus, Chavez is living up to the stupidity of a would be socialist-fascist...trying to find a way to remain pres. for life. He's kicking out the west and western technology and oil services so production and taking advantage of the $90 a bbl prices will never be what it otherwise might. That could be as much as 2 -4 million bbls/day over time. That's a lotta money and what he needs to buy his crumbs of allegiance for the poor in Venezuela.

Russia has tried that and could be as we speak be taking in another $300 - $400 million A DAY. Stupid...

America does not have entirely clean hands when it comes to international trade and the relationships that creates and nobody should expect us to but ours are still...among the cleanest.

Status: offline 		          I'm not going for the multi-point megaquote her, Shad.  They were rhetorical questions, such posts give Termy a headache, and you were drifting badly by the end anyway.  NATO???   You didn't start very well either, talking about all the starving Americans.  The number one health issue among US poor is obesity.

        
        Let me give you an example that runs along the same lines.  If you announce that you are taking your father's car, and not bringing it back, should you expect him to keep making the payments, insurance and covering the gas card?

All the while the US supported the govt. of Venezuela. Chavez has been trying to be a blue-collar Hitler...intimidating the masses with violence and extortion to help him overthrow a demo. Venezuelan govt.

Yes, the Venezuelan govt. has dirty hands but with the courts in tack and the rule of law still holding political institutions...Chavez becomes the enemy of the people...and anytime it suits him. The US never backed a coup in Venezuela....they backed the elected govt. of Venezuela before Chavez and his antics. ALL countries cease to remain a republic when there is no opposition and one allowed to freely operate.

Please itemize...'stealing of resources' and 'exploit our workforce' and the others...

Bush met with the coup plotters in the weeks leading up the coup.As soon as the coup took place and Chavez was ousted,the Bush Administration recognized them and the "new" government.

Days later,when Chavez took back his elected,legal  presidency,Bush had to embarrassingly withdraw his recognition of the coup plotters.

A huge foreign policy bungle.

Just as the idiot Hannity says Great American to everyone that agrees with him, he is right, but so is those picketing outside KFC, an abortion clinic, or the panhandler asking for change. We are all Americans, and once you or anyone else starts to draw a line and divide us, is when you will see the country start to fail. Notice how the lines are dividied now? Each side hating and wishing the other would burn in hell? Notice where our country is?


Some where in the middle of your socialistic extreme views, and a neo-cons extreme views, is likely where we need to be. We need both perspectives to best discuss issues, so that as many views as possible can be seen.

You over react to a sarcastic joke I make, and get bent out of shape all of the time. Try some exercise, fruits and veggies, yoga, or something before you pop a vein and have a stroke.

Status: offline 		I do not disagree with you on the alternative fuels, but if the oil tap was suddenly just turned off, you would see this country go to war so quickly, and likely would need to use chem (yeah I know we are not supposed to have them, but they can be made real fast) and nuclear, since there is not enough man power. Turning the oilo off too quickly will stop this country dead. That is what I was trying to get you to think about.

Now if some supply was cut and the price went up, pressure from the American people would eventually push alt fuels, but even that is going to cause some hardships. I am not that worried about greenhouse gases, I want to see the US become more fuel independent.
