Though I join those who advise against such, here is my "opinion". You want to use what are commonly called "finish nails". I suggest 6d (or 6 penny, which refers to the size and would be about 2.5 inches long. Do sharpen the points manually. Do not use ANY kind of nail that is "cement coated" or galvanized. Do use a very soft wood, white pine to be precise. Do NOT use laminated or "plywood" as the nail resist too much. Do use a thickness of wood at least as thick as a common 2X4. Anything less will NOT provide enough cushion for the nails to penetrate easily. DO secure the wood on something very solid and very sturdy. Nails "bounce" when not backed up by something immovable. The types of nails are "coated" "common" "bright" and "galvanized". "Bright" nails are just that. They have a silver finish and are very, very sturdy. You don't want a bent nail, I assure you. A finish nail, having just enough of a head to strike with a hammer, can either be pulled or the skin can be "lifted" OVER the head of the nail to disimpale oneself. If needed, the small head of the nail can be removed by using a hand held flat file so that it is just as easy to "lift off" of it rather than pull it from the wood. Use a 13 oz. hammer, and nothing heavier. Disinfect, disinfect, disinfect. Swab the entire skin areas with Beatdine first. This will however, leave a dark orange color on the skin. Treat the nails individually in common rubbing alcohol. The acidity of white pine prohibits bacteria from forming, but you may want to wash the wood down first with alcohol and let it dry first. Aftercare: Douse all punctured areas copiuosly with Hydrogen Peroxide several times a day until the wounds begin to heal. Do NOT bandage them and expose them to air as much as possible. Take special care not to wear tight or synthetic fabric panties or bras for ahwile. Wear cotton which breathes and will help the healing process. You can expect a dark, purplish scarification that will be for life. You also want to avoid penetrating any muscular tissue, and you may want to assist by stretching the areas to be nailed while your partner holds nail and hammer. Though again, I strongly advise against this, I hope my information has been useful in helping you do this as safely as possible if you are so determined. Church
