Most definitely I will take care of my boys if any of them were to become sick...if they would let me! lol  I have 2 sick with the flu right now and they have decided to stay at home and not let me visit them so I don't get it.  Sweet boys they are.  I also tend to their emotional needs, like when they are down, upset, bad life stuff happens, etc.  I'm a councelor as much as a Domme to them sometimes, because I care about them.

To Elan, Shawn and all the rest of you sick puppies, sending out some healing energy...hope you get better soon!

(crossing my fingers and loading up on C to dodge the bullet top, DV!)

Yes.  Whether physically or emotionally under the weather, my obligation is to my property.  It's also kinda second nature to me as a healthcare professional.  I recall being in the PACU when my former boy came out of surgery.  PACU nurses are tough (almost moreso than OR nurses) but they let me in, along with his guard (his police department sends someone on duty to stand watch with the officer and their family.)  By the end of his stay with them, they wanted me to come work on the unit.  They told me I handled the belligerent patient very well.  Little did they know....

Last night, I was rather sick. I'd just finished spending half of the weekend at home with my sisters for their 17th birthday. As I was leaving, I began to notice that I was getting sick. I started to think that I wouldn't be able to make my entire trip back without resting, so I called my Owner and asked if I could sleep at her place for a few hours. She was out visiting, and she said it was fine since I have a key to her place anyway I was only kind of sick at this point, so I thought I'd be just fine after a nap. I slept from about 2-9, I think...and when I finally got up, I was so sick I could barely move. I was freezing to death even though I had the head on full by blast. So, I called my Owner and left her a message...and then she cut her visit about half an hour short to come and take care of me. Long story short, she nursed me back to health quite nicely. She made me tea, gave me medicine, and kept me company. As of this morning I'm a lot better.

My question... Do you take care of your pet when he/she is sick?

I take care of anyone in my family when he/she is sick.

I expect that same of care in return.

Someone who can take my care but not give it back in equal amounts won't be in the family long.

Master and I are in diff states right now.  Last month i was very sick with the flu.  My Master called me in the morning like he normally does when he gets off work.  (He works 24 hr shifts)  As soon as he heard how sick i was he told me to get some rest take care of myself and he would talk to me later.  Later that night i called him (i just wanted to hear his voice, i get whiny when sick)  He was glad that i called and wanted to hear his voice but told me that i should rest we would talk when i got better.
I will be going out to see him soon.  My main job is going to be taking care of Him b/c he is having some dental work done.  Yes we are Master and slave but we are also in a relationship and we care about each other.  These are things you do for people you care about.

Ah, you've got to love the kindness of strangers.

I had no idea we had a Health Building on campus.  Thankfully, I happened to chat with my dorm's cleaning lady, and she pointed me in the right direction.  She claims she had what I have for about a week.  I'll -die- in a week. :-(

So, I've got an appointment for 2:15 today. :-D

Update.  I have the flu.  My Owner diagnosed that much and it was free.  Stupid doctors. :-p

I've been told to take off the rest of the week so I can recover fully.  So, here I am at my Owner's waiting for her to get home.  This may be the only silver lining in this terrible thing.

But hey, the flu can't get too much worse.

And while I'm thinking about it.  A tablespoon of honey works amazing for a sore throat.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Sick Pets (2/12/2008 3:21:49 PM)

I officially believe this was an elaborate plot to be here for valentines day...
Fox will be staying here to get away from an equally ill roommate and not have to drive all the way back home. He isnt allowed to go to classes or work, and at least here he can sleep without interruption and hopefully get better. And here, unlike home with family, there are fewer people to spread the love to.
He should be fine, a little tea, a little sleep, some medication and that lovely mentholated smell for a few days and he'll be right as rain.

vampchick88 -> RE: Sick Pets (2/12/2008 3:55:52 PM)

I'm the sort if pet ever get sick and tries to protest due to his wiley ways. I'll probably tie him up and force loving, nurturing comfort onto him until he's all better....ok I might even go with the black latex nurse dress at least I get to look cute. lol

bleusparkles -> RE: Sick Pets (2/12/2008 4:01:20 PM)

I'm just trying to get over the vision of a chicken soup enema ...

What *are* those floaty bits? Are those noodles .... or? OMG!

I almost dread getting sich in front of Mistress!  I'm the type that would rather wither and die before I let someone take care of me...LOL  I'm too independent.  Mistress, however, has very different plans.  Her nurturing side would definitely come out and She would probably make a huge fuss over me.  Knowing Her diabolical mind, She'd give me a chicken soup enema to aid in the healing process!  LMAO [:D]

Although, the thought of Her in a black latex nurse's outfit certainly piques my curiosity!  *cough cough*  Uh oh...I'm feeling warm! [:D]

Im the same way bro. I hate letting someone else take care of me. Hell, I hate even admitting that Im sick. One of my co workers asked me today, "dude, you have a cold?" all I said was "nah, Im just smoking too much, need to cut back *hack hack cough* [:D]

The problem is that it isnt always about human beings on here, MsSavra.  Some of us love our pets, and some people put on as if they couldnt care less about their property and if they are an inconvenience they should be put aside until they can be helpful again. [...]

I did now a girl back when I was still learning who would send her slaves home if they were ill, becasue she didnt want to take care of them for fear of catching it. Her time was too precious to her to spend any of it sick, and she refused to put herself at risk even if that meant her boys or girls werre sitting at home alone.

Dear DiurnalVampire, it really makes me sad to read things like this. To me D/s is the closest, deepest, most loving form of relationship. If a person gives himself fully into my hands then I must make sure that he is safe and well. It is a deep form of give and take. It's called responsibility. We both agree on that.

I am glad to see Fox has found such a loving owner, he seems to be a darling. So, best wishes for his recovery to him - and kudos to you.

I hope you soon feel all well again, Shawn .. and I am sure your Owner's loving care is the best medicine you could ever have.

LadyPact -> RE: Sick Pets (2/13/2008 3:46:50 AM)

I'm very sorry to hear that you have the flu, shawn.  I'm sure your Owner is glad to have you home where She can watch over you.  I have the feeling that She'll be taking very good care of you until you're over it.

Please get your rest, elan.  The good vibes are being sent your way.

MistressOfGa -> RE: Sick Pets (2/13/2008 7:44:50 AM)

~~~FR~~~
First of all, I hope Shawn and Elan both feel better soon.
As far as taking care of him while he is sick. Yes of course. I remember once he was not feeling well, I drove the 200 miles to his dorm to be with him and take care of him. He has done the same for me. I love my puppy and if I can make his life a little easier as he does mine, why wouldnt I want to do that for him?
ElanSubdued -> RE: Sick Pets (2/13/2008 9:30:59 AM)
Shawn,
--- I think I have the flu too.  It's 2:30 am, and
--- my fever is acting back up and I can't sleep
--- at all. :-(
My own fever is coming down now, but I still have no voice.  It's the no voice part that is most bumming me out because this make it very hard to communicate with business associates, family, etc.
--- *Magically sends positive energy
--- towards all the other sick people*
*catches the wave*
Thanks Shawn. :-)
Elan.
Heh. :-)  Even when I'm better, I'll still be one darned fine sick puppy!  Thank you for your thoughts Phoenix.
Elan.
About the "not admitting you're sick and/or not allowing anyone to look after you" thing.  I have no problem admitting I'm sick.  Nothing is better than having your partner, Master, Domina, Owner, friend look after you when you're sick.  For me, this isn't an issue of independence because it also makes good sense.  Why maximize the period of time you're out of commission when you can ask for help and get back to being useful for your partner, friends, co-workers, and yourself more quickly?  In the pampering someone when they are sick department, I'm an equal opportunity employer.  I love it when my partner looks after me and I'm most certainly going to look after her when she is feeling blue.
Elan.
