Status: offline 		Great subject huh? I have been thinking about this due to Valentine's day. Do I really know what love is? Other than the kind a parent feels for a child,how do you recognize it? I contemplated this because I have been in a relationship for less that 4 months. I like him alot and maybe love him, but I'm not sure what love is? I definately feel emotion and passion. When I am being Dominated or in the throws of passion and breathless I think, "I love you". but isn't this passionate feeling of love through sex just merely lust? Women do feel emotionally from the sexual , so do we mistake lust for sex? If we do mistake love for sex,than what constitues love and how do we recognize it?

Hard to believe i was married for 12 years. Maybe that wasnt love but just security and farmiliarity?

So all my Valentines tell me your thoughts on love and the recognition of it?

If you wimmen are as exclusively sensitive as you appear to believe why has most of romantic "guff" been written by men and not wimmen.?

Status: offline 		Perhaps one can never really know if they love someone, until they are required to do the crappy side of love; letting someone go, when they really rather keep them.
 
I think the best way to known, until then, can probably be assessed by inspecting the values, you love said person for. Are they realistic, are they accurate?

I am questioning whether women mistake passion for love because we are more apt to feel emotional from sex?

I don't know what love is as quantified in words, but I do  know it when I feel it and it isn't lust although hopefully they go hand in hand.

Not having doubts at all. I'm very happy. But the love you feel because the person turns you on and a relationship is new and its all good, is that reliable? How do you tell the difference between infatuation and love? i happen to be viewing this in a mature way where i am not jumping in with both feet declaring its love like some people do. I've seen people talking about their love and they havent even been in person yet.

No. You are wise. i have seen many here just rush into things. We know things crash and burn. I have felt undying love with those who I wasnt even with for 8 weeks. I like to think I am being more thoughtful about it and less silly and "boy crazy" in this approach.

you know, I love being with him and I have never had such great sex in my life. I have been places with him I never have with anyone sexually. But because he isnt one to declare those words right off the bat.( He said right from the beginning that he takes his time when attaching and women always seem to feel love quicker than him.) He is one of those slow and steady types. Hes a great partner and boyfriend. He does all the right things and truly loves spending time. I was even given the key to his place. But because he is one of the slow types it has made me hold back and pace myself. I am not declaring things out of giddiness and being in love with the idea of love.

Really is the love you feel in the shiny new glow of a relationship really the deep and lasting kind or is love slow and steadfast?

I am just questioning if what I thought was love was really love? because really we had nothing in common , no passion and no communication or intimacy that worked.

I am much happier in this relationship and trying to take it in a more , I dont know , pragmatic way? Or detached for a while so as not to rush in like a fool and get burned.

shrug...either, both, neither, all of the above and none of the above....hell who knows?  There's nothing wrong with taking it slow, but be careful that you remember that how you feel isn't really predicated on how he feels or what he says.  Sounds to me like you may already have your answer and are unsure.....maybe not though.......sigh...you're confusing me!!!!!
