High Anxiety

I wouldn't call this one "stupid"..... I loved the part where Harvey Korman is freaking Mel Brooks out pretending to be a werewolf, and Cloris Leachman is terrific, too, as uber-kinky Nurse Diesel.

Those who are late do not deserve fruit cup.

[:D] I had forgotten about that.

Actually, when it comes to HHGTTG, I still think the single best version of the story was it's original incarnation: as a radio serial on the BBC home service. It's available on CD format, and MP3, if you look around. Highly recommended. It's 100X funnier, and more impressive when your own imagination is filling in the details!

ok, I loved the most recent Hitchhikers Guide movie.. if for no other reason than Alan Rickman's voice *grin*
Have you seen Rickman in "Blow Dry"? Good flick.

That's how I first experienced it...as tapes of the radio play late 1978/early 79... a friend came back from touring clubs and festivals in the UK, and after the welcome back party wound down, he pulled out these cassettes... none of the other versions have been as good as my imagination.

In addition to the great ones already mentioned, unless I missed it throughout the thread here - Austin Powers???  How could we miss that one?

Also a new addition to these might be the Simpsons Movie (which I admit, I enjoyed much more than I thought I would).

GreedyTop -> RE: Stupid movies that still grab ya (2/22/2008 7:36:27 PM)

What's that Kirsten Dunst movie about the cheerleader competition?

TheBanshee -> RE: Stupid movies that still grab ya (2/22/2008 7:48:29 PM)

Greedy Top ....
  "Bring it On"

and while we're on that add Jawbreaker too

MissAidan -> RE: Stupid movies that still grab ya (2/22/2008 7:50:12 PM)

Bring it?  Not sure, haven't seen all of it.  I have to second Harold and Maude...should be nominated for most disturbing pseudo-love scene.  Two I can't believe haven't been brought up are Super Troopers and Waiting!  Oooh, and Euro Trip!  And a classic...Addams Family and Addams Family 2!!

GreedyTop -> RE: Stupid movies that still grab ya (2/22/2008 7:50:37 PM)

jawbreaker?

When I'm bummed (which is very seldom since about a week ago ... the SSRIs and the Oxycodone are doing fine, TY very much [:D] ), I watch "Young Frankenstein" and a couple less funny pics, but good nevertheless. "Shakespeare in Love", "The Imposters", "Dangerous Liaisons", "Spinal Tap", and when I'm really in the groove, "Elizabeth" with Cate.

Yeah my sadistic Mofo of a Dentist gave me some Oxy's.. Boohya! The only thing keeping me from falling on a sword at this time.
Young Frankenstien would cheer up the dead... I *love* any of the Historical stuff like Dangerous Liasons, Valmont, Elizabeth, The second one.. Elizabeth: The Golden Age (drool worthy garb!) and my fave for the garb and the poetry... Dangerous Beauty. I pop that in when ever I need to be motivated to sew something amazing. It is my Muse.

Gwyn
