I'm with those who mentioned Airplane (Otto Pilot smoking a cigarette after getting blown) and The Big Labowski ("The Dude abides.")
I can't believe no one has mentioned Old Yeller ("Son, I'll trade you this pup for a woman cooked meal.")

Joe's Apartment. There is nothing like singing and dancing cockroaches to bring a smile to my face.[:D]

Any of the old Zatoichi flicks

For me it would be Dude, Where's My Car?

Who can forget lines like these?...

Mr. Pizzacoli: A trained dolphin could deliver pizzas better than you two!
Jesse: But then the pizzas would get all wet.

Or Better yet...

Chester: How wasted were we last night?
Jesse: Well, I touched Christy Boner's hoo-hoo, were on the hook for two hundred thousand dollars to a transsexual stripper, and my car's gone.
I'd say we were pretty wasted.

Oh, yeah... if you're a Trekkie, there's also a movie called "Free Enterprise" that's pretty damn funny. (The only thing that's unrealistic about the story is that the two main protagonists are far too sucsessful to be real fanboys. They should be living in their parents basements, and think of women as alien life forms.)

......haven't read the whole thread, but has anybody mentioned 'Dark Star' yet and it's wonderful, philosophical talking bomb?

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas

And to think, it's based on a true story in Texas.

How about more on Tim Cury?

"Pass The Ammo" is a movie that still grabs me very much.

When I'm bummed (which is very seldom since about a week ago ... the SSRIs and the Oxycodone are doing fine, TY very much [:D] ), I watch "Young Frankenstein" and a couple less funny pics, but good nevertheless. "Shakespeare in Love", "The Imposters", "Dangerous Liaisons", "Spinal Tap", and when I'm really in the groove, "Elizabeth" with Cate.

Yeah my sadistic Mofo of a Dentist gave me some Oxy's.. Boohya! The only thing keeping me from falling on a sword at this time.
Young Frankenstien would cheer up the dead... I *love* any of the Historical stuff like Dangerous Liasons, Valmont, Elizabeth, The second one.. Elizabeth: The Golden Age (drool worthy garb!) and my fave for the garb and the poetry... Dangerous Beauty. I pop that in when ever I need to be motivated to sew something amazing. It is my Muse.

Gwyn

I haven't seen Dangerous Beauty in a long time. Great flick. Love Katherine McCormick.

Another killer period flick is "The Advocate w/ Colin Firth & Ian Holm. 'Tis the tale of a Parisian lawyer who moves to a small town sometime in the 1400s (IIRC). He is called upon to defend a pig that is accused of murder. Very funny in some places.

Then you're missing out on a true stupid movie classic. Once seen, "Pass The Ammo" is a movie that you'll never forget.

Also, I'm a big fan of Wallace and Grommit films. Should I watch "Curse of the Were Rabbit" on Holloween or Easter?

GreedyTop -> RE: Stupid movies that still grab ya (2/24/2008 8:58:47 PM)

watch it on both days ;)

I adore Tim...

I just finished watching "Sweet Home Alabama".

Cheesy, silly movie... but there were a few scenes that got me weepy...

Anyone else have those kind of movies?

Flintstones Christmas.  When Fred forgets his own presents in the sleigh/Santa brings them..............sniff, sniff.
