Ooooook. Just because YOU were a 23 yo who couldn't have been a dom doesn't mean the rest of us can't and aren't.

Trust me, you DON'T want to start disparaging on "youth of bdsm" here based on a single post by a single person.

Oh hell, I'll disparage youth in BDSM for a minute (sort of). You know me, I love a challenge.

There's nothing wrong with young people in BDSM; I not only admire people like you who knew what they wanted and were able to find their local scene, but wish I'd been in that position at that time.

Age really has no baring in where the OP is concerned. 23, 43...63, age has no baring on a life lived vicariouslly through the computer where BDSM or anything else is concerned. My advice is the same all the way around; stop musing about something you think you are and go be who you are if that's what you are.

Get away from the computer and go find the locals and get yourself some friends and education. It's a big, fun world out there if you just find it.

I usually won’t buy into the age thing for the simple reason that in most cases people of the same age have a large spread (no not legs) of experience and MATURITY. I remember being a highly trained (by the Australia and the US Armies) Spec. Forces Combat Officer. I landed in ‘Nam with confidence BUT I had the brains to be educated by a couple of Master Sgts both doing their third tour. They weren’t “Old” in years but sheesh they were far older in experience. They took the time to take my green carcass and hone it and show me my trade.

So if you forget the chronological age bit and look to the experience and maturity age, then the “old” dog will run rings about a puppy every day. Why? Because he knows all the tricks and safe shortcuts and wear the pup out and then walk up and nip the youngster in the arse with impunity. Bit like the tale of the Old Bull and the Young Bull isn’t it?

Yo Fury, you beat me to it, but don't you agree, not a bad shot for a 23 year old. The thing that got me was the underlying theme,"I thought I was a Dom but I have just been dumped, told off, insulted, exposed.....or whatever.....by a sub and here I am wallowing in self pity."
When I was 23 I had just read the "Story of O" with a perpetual hard on and that was 39 years ago. Man have I learned a lot since then. At 23 I couldn't have been a Dom even under hypnosis but I thought I was. Ah youth, the problem is it's wasted on the young. But keep a stiff upper and forge ahead...Excelsior!

Must be hard on you man with the weight that chip on your shoulder weighs,,it dosent matter the age or the sex it is the emotional makeup of an individual...........I have seen 60 year olds act like children under the age of three.......age is but a number

Nice wind-up... good pitch... I would definitively not agree with the statement highlighted below...

I am a dominant male.. 'same as {I} always was' (sic - DEVO) with or without a partner; because, it is a form of one's character, and not something extrinsic or external from my "self".

~J

Random thoughts...

So we're a different sort... governed by a mindset to which none other than our enigmatic selves can truly understand, though it is our ultimate quest to seek out and share the labyrinth of our thoughts and desires with others - or perhaps that special someone (or more if you have them).

No two are truly alike, though cookie cutter versions seem to spring up, preaching to the few who would hear them about their path to domination - mimicking styles read from a book or perused from a website... allowing a snag here and there from some needing individual, desiring to be taken control of. Is there a right way to Dom? We all know the answer is, NO. From the iron fist, to the cotton heart, as long as we have those precious ones that look up to us for our guidance - with a patient mind, resting in our lap - we have done what we set out to do, to Dom.

For in this, we are truly nothing without those who consider themselves our subs/slaves. As every person needs air to breathe, we as Dominants owe our existance to the very ones that make up our other half, our submissives. For what are we without them? And vice versa.

The dreaded day then comes, when our hearts that had been made whole - as if the pieces of the puzzle to who we truly are were now complete - our love, our life, our existance... is gone. As Doms we are expected to shrug it off and except it, to show no sign of waivering... but our humanity tends to get the better of us. Do we chase? Or is chasing something a Dom does not do? Do we let the heart grow fonder through absence? Time can do as much damage as it can repair. Or do we talk, as people in love should do, to work things out - knowing that we are the best for each other.

Chronicles of the once whole, Dom.

My view on this?? What a crock of horse shit! the author apparently has no idea of what a Master is or what an Alpha male is. It sounds like the scrawl of some one who spends far too much time on line and who does his "Dom" thing there.. Don't EVER make a statement like that whereby some may immagine I'm included in it... I would see that as a gross insult.

Umm... hey, if you feel that way good for you - but it sure isn't like that for all of "us".

(Effective) Communication is absolutely a necessity in any relationship and I would say even more so in a D/s or Owner/salve one.

As to working it out or chasing I agree with what some of the other's have said - it's your decision.

I am exactly me with or without my slave. Happier with the reality but still myself without.

Without them ? We are people without partners, nothing more and nothing less.

And probably not too damn happy, for awhile.

Ok really off-topic here but this site really needs a spellchecker (guess I'm going to have to cut and paste back and forth from my word processor, bleh). Fortunately my errors here have been typos and not mistakes but I cringe everytime I see them. Arggh

There are lots of spellcheckers you can get on your own and use in conjunction with your browser. One of the handiest comes with the Google Toolbar, which includes a lot of other useful items too (such as a pop-up blocker):

http://toolbar.google.com/

You can't really fault the site for not having a spellchecker when they're so easily available on the net.

I am responsible for all my posts. My wish list, however, for the site includes a spell checker (which I am sure I will pass along to the people maintaining the site. Using a spell checker with my browser seems... well I'm old school internet and a control freak what can I say. :-)

If we had a spell checker on site, then what version of English would it be in?? Bet your bottom bippy that it would be in US English.. Naaaa I'll stay with Word, I have it set to Australian English. Sheesh man just how much longer does it take you to write in word and do a cut & paste???

I tend to have to agree with you my friend,,,this is just another way that some that have read on the net or participated in chat room drama and now try to over romantacize the lifestyle...this is the confirmation that this one has conformed to the submissive shaping what a Dominant should be...im not saying all submissives or slaves but ya have to admit there are alot of profiles that are on this forum as well as many others across the net that have the very thing that we are all speaking about...I have to agree with some of the other osts that this young man needs a mentor in r/t and a public group to associate with to grasp what this is all about.....im a Master with or without a slave......they dont make me who I am........I make me who I am...my convictions and beliefs shape the person I have become over the last decade..........

im off the soap box again,

Master Six

Look Six,when the goal is to get laid, some men will submit to almost anything. So this sort of ass kissing attitude hardly surprises me-most women expect that these days.

Lends "humiliation play" a whole new meaning.
