haha popeye!  I'm way too practical to spend that much on a vehicle, even if I was rich.

MzMia -> RE: CARS!!! (2/18/2008 8:52:40 PM)

Popeye, I saw a car advertised recently {I think it was a Volvo}, that alerts you
that you are close enough to hit someone, it alerts you when someone is about to hit you,
it even has a detector that lets you know if someone is hiding next to your car at night.

I have seen so many new features, I would not be surprised if there are cars that will
help you locate a hot submissive using the gps.[:D]

I want my next car to have all the bells and whistles.

xolarkinxo -> RE: CARS!!! (2/18/2008 8:56:48 PM)

There's even one that parallel parks for you.  Creepy if you ask me.....me...I miss my Escort.

My step dad had a 67 Hard Top convertible when he and my mom got married. I've heard stories about what a POS it was and how it always broke down when my mom was driving it. I just remember sitting on the "bench" that wasn't really a back seat between the drivers and passengers seat when we went anywhere as a family and how cool I thought it was. (that was waaaay back in the day before seatbelt laws obviously)

Mia, I think the only car that comes with a built-in sub finder is unfortunately a Rolls Royce.

PanthersMom -> RE: CARS!!! (2/18/2008 9:34:27 PM)

we own a 2007 ford expedition, it's an suv, yes i know, but it can transport the whole family and my electric scooter too.  we also have a 2007 ford fusion, that's the car i will probably have the hand controls put in if i drive again.  i can get my manual chair in and out of it with no problems.  my parents are using the 2006 pacifica i used to drive.

I was thinking that we need a CAR thread in here to break things up a bit.
And it's not just for us guys either, ladies are welcome in here too!
Today I was comming back from the market and saw a car being taken away from the parking lot on the back of a flat bed truck.
It was a LEXUS! LOL, there was something about how "great" those cars are in a thread a few weeks ago and that's what made me think of this thread.
Gee, $80,000 for a car and they have to lug it to the shop on a flat bed?
They couldn't even tow it? Maybe it had something to do with the all wheel drive or transmission.
I've always been a Ford man myself, Mercurys but I've owned Ford pick up trucks and had no problems with them and that was in New England winters!
You can really beat on them if you want and it doesn't bother them at all.
You just do routine maintainance on them and they go forever!
As I said before I have a friend who had a LEXUS and had nothing but problems with it.
He bought a 2003 Corvette and traded the pos Lexus in for it.
Now just because I'm a Ford man doesn't mean I don't like GMC products.
I like GMC pick ups, Cadillacs but not Chevys.
So go ahead and comment.

  Heh.... I drive a '97 Honda Accord with with 260k miles on it, but I've got a 40x55 pole barn on my property with 350-500k worth of completely restored various late 60's- early70's muscle cars in it.  They're master works of art and American ingenuity ; just there for me to look at and admire once in a while.  ; }

Ranger, yeah, those cars certainly were works of art!
Like the '66-'69 Chevelles with the 396's in them and the GTOs of that era too.
Then of course the Mopar Dodges and Plymouths with the 426 Hemi engines that would really scream.
And the Mustang "Cobras."

Aileen1968 -> RE: CARS!!! (2/19/2008 10:09:44 AM)

My all time favorite car has been my Chevy Tahoe.  Big Red has over 200,000 miles and outside of needing a new trans at about 50,000 (Chevy's are infamous for needing new trans) and routine maintenance, she has been a wonderful car.  She's now been retired and sits with a big plow on her front end and does a fine job of keeping my 800 foot steep driveway free and clear of snow and ice.  I now drive  Big Good Gray ( named by my wee one)...a GMC Yukon.  Bought used from our mechanic with about 75,000 miles on him.  So far I love him, but he rides just like the Tahoe so it's all good.  I plan on getting well over 200,000 out of him too.

slaveboyforyou -> RE: CARS!!! (2/19/2008 2:03:06 PM)

Not trying to hijack your thread Popeye, just adding to it if you don't mind....What was everyone's first car?  I always think that's and interesting thing to learn about folks.  I got a '69 VW Karmen Gia when I was 16.  It was a POS.  The breaks went out on it when you had to slam on them hard, and the accelerator cable constantly broke.  But I loved that car.  It represented my first taste of adulthood and freedom.

CraZYWiLLiE -> RE: CARS!!! (2/19/2008 2:24:09 PM)

I drive a 74 Ramcharger with a pop top.
I have owned many cars from GTO to Alfa Romeo. As for bikes, I rode before I drove....

LaTigresse -> RE: CARS!!! (2/19/2008 2:50:36 PM)

My son and his ex had a Lexus aka Toyota and never had any problems with it until she wrecked it. I've had several Prisms aka Toyotas and loved them. I've only had one Ford I half ass liked and it was an old Escort. The only Ford truck I had I hated and got rid of it to get a Dodge which I loved and hauled twice the weight the Ford would. I have a 1996 Dodge Ram now, that I bought new,  and have not had any problems at all with it.  I still have one of the Prisms and don't want to drive anything else on icy roads even though it has over 226 thousand miles on it. I also have a 2008 Mazda Speed 3 which has not left the garage in over a month. It gets great gas milage and is a blast to drive. It just handles for shit on snow and ice.......whoops.

Overall I hate American cars and prefer imports for their reliability. It was just that there was no proven import, full sized truck available when I was shopping.

playfulotter -> RE: CARS!!! (2/19/2008 3:07:56 PM)

my red 1998 Toyota Celica hatchback with chrome wheels i bought new and it still looks brand new and has never broken down once...Also, if you get your car detailed 3 times a year it really saves the paint job too...My guy bought a new car last year which is a 2007 BMW convertible and i am jealous of all the things it can do but still love my car best![;)]

Slaveboy, no problem.
I had a '67 Mustang fastback for my first car.
