Cleavland, eh? "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

.....so essentially what you're saying is that all foreign policy can be boiled down to quoting Aliens?

Oh, for those still wondering if Pakistan is worth leaving on the map, they had an election yesterday and the fundamentalist Muslim League party was a "distant third" with only 38 seats of 268. According to the CBC radio news the defeat was especially resounding in the areas bordering Afghanistan, where al Qaede has forces concentrated.

The majority of seats went to the secular opposition parties, with 154 seats.

Of course the US backed dictator, General Musharraf, will not be stepping down despite the double embarrassment of losing an election and of having a western ally blowing up houses without permission.

http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2008/02/20/india-pakistan.html

India hopes to make serious headway resolving issues which have kept the two countries at war since Partition in 1947, when their English overlords, in gratitude for decades of wealth extraction from the region, had their bureaucrats arbitrarily divided the country into Hindu and Muslim states, thus fomenting sixty years of unnecessary bloodshed.

Three cheers for colonialism, ancient and modern!

Heads up, Philo - that's domestic policy. Unless you were assuming it's Canadian foreign ploicy, coming from me.

Sorry for any confusion and full points for identifying the quote.

Cylons are man made machines, not Aliens.  And since someone else dragged determinsm into this thread, what was the Cylons take on that?  Its one of the central themes of the series.

Cylons? Oh, it was a prophesy in a TV SciFi Fantasy space opera. It must be true and have relevance to the matter of predeterminism!

Finally I am convinced and renounce free will as an anti Hollywood plot.

PS: The quote was from Aliens, as Philo already stated quite clearly, not BSG. I always suspected you don't read very carefully before posting. My suspicions are confirmed.

I read a small blurb on MSNBC today, stating that we apparently bombed Pakistan on President's day. A Predator released two hellfire missiles onto a small house, killing (we hope) a higher up in Al Queida... The government of Pakistan was informed after, in order to keep the targets from being tipped off. (as they have been, repeatedly, in the past.)

Obviously, the US government thinks Mucharrif (sp?) is on his way out, and they took the opportunity to do an end run around him and his military.

Bipolar, I think it's to be expected that wherever al qeada pops up it's head they'll be blown to bits.
If they locate them in downtown Cleveland fuck the cops, I want hellfire missiles!

hey!  those of us near downtown cleveland would appreciate it if they didn't miss and hit my house!

Sure Zen what sort of response would you like.  The thread was started by a very pro democratic poster, and I made the comment that this is exactly what Obama has promised to do.

You after a few silly posts to derail, say that you think Obama is a liar, What more comment do you want?  I put out an on topic idea.... you want to talk with Mnot about WMDs and Iraq.

...weeellllll, if it we're going to be predantic, as the whole of BSG is about finding Earth, then they're all aliens......and what the hell have Cylons got to do with the price of eggs?

Not for nothing,a Predator w/ a couple missiles is not bombing.

More of a shooting.

Bombing IMO,is heavy bombers and jets dropping tonnage.

Yeah, when Baltar had them settled on the planet and occupyied by the Cylons.  The resistance was becoming problematic, suicide bombings and such, so they were debating just taking off and nuking the humans.  I may have paraphrased it in my memory.

No, he is saying the United States should nuke a major city (actually spelled Cleveland) in the state of Ohio in order to defeat Al Qaeda.

Drew Carey is going to be pissed.
