lvl 24 hoard female troll warrior...ashenvale, stonetalon mountains....the monsters are the same level or one above or one or two below me.  they heal themselves...im using a shitty lvl 16 one hand axe (one hand axe my weapon of choice).  without any higher weapon i cant progress.

i only play solo.  that way i get the experience.  you play group you get no experience.  its not like diablo ..you only get a small % of someone elses kill.
where as diablo you could sit back and gain lvl's doing nothing at all.  hence the lvl 99 diablo chars made in 24 hours.  i dont want to join any guilds.  i bought this game because when i played diablo i could sit down..put my music on and 5 hours would pass like it was 5 mins.  i only have one character.

my time runs out in 2 days... (on the 22nd)  and i think i am the only one on the feathermoon (california) server.

Eiseria -> RE: World Of Warcraft (2/20/2008 11:50:42 AM)

Soloing is fine when your at a low level. Shoot. I like doing that myself, So it was kinda weird when I started running with another person.  But I am getting use to it. :And now that I think about it.  It's quiet enjoyable!

And you still get experience running with others.  It's a little slower...but a little faster.  You accomplish the quests sooner. Then again.  It's great when you have a 70 run you all around.  ;)

I LOVE MY GUILD!!!

Aubre -> RE: World Of Warcraft (2/20/2008 11:57:17 AM)

Have you done all the quests in The Barrens? Including the ones from Camp Tarajo to the south? How about the quests in Ratchet? You can do some Warsong Gulch PVP, the entrance is near Ashenvale. You could also head over to Tarren Mill in the Eastern Kingdoms. If you have a shield, wait for them to start casting their heal (it's usually a green aura I think) then do a shield bash. You can stop them from healing for 6 seconds. If you are in a defensive stance, try to Disarm them, that greatly reduces the damage they do to you for 10 seconds. If you think you will need to run, try and Intimidating Shout to distract them from you while you run away. I hope that helps.

deviantdomuk -> RE: World Of Warcraft (2/20/2008 12:03:50 PM)

I was pleasantly suprised when i saw this pop up. It may be a good idea to try a server with a higher population but like you saidyou have two days left how practical tht is is another thing.

I enjoy playing Warcraft may be too much I ended up with a lot of lvl 70s but the fun is playing with others .. bit like BDSM :)

Good luck

mhawk -> RE: World Of Warcraft (2/20/2008 12:18:22 PM)

i agree playing with others has it's advantages and disadvantages but i'm one of thsoe people i play on my own i get bored easily and usually end up deleting the char and starting a new one so on and so fourth. recently as mentioned my Mistress got involved in the game and we do our runs together. i was 4 lvls ahead of Her the other day,we groupd going places but when we got to where She needed the exp points to lvl we would disband and i would be Her back up just in case.now our lvls are close to even so we stick together.

i've looked into moving to feathermoon but the only time i saw it on my list was about 2 weeks ago when Blizzard was doing maintenence and all the servers were down for half the day. that's honeslty been the only time i've seen it.

i wanted to give up on the game a few weeks ago but now that i am learning more i'm sticking in it. sometimes it may mean changing realms.and as mentioned there are some realms that are not as highly populated as most.

Blech! The orignal Warcraft I II & III where fine (II being th best) but WoW is crap it takes the fun out of it. I mean aren't there enough 40 year olds living at home with their parents and Playing RPG already? I am a big Blizzard fan myself (leaning more towards StarCraft) And I feel Blizzard dropped the ball on this one. Is really just way to whore the warcraft name and squeese ever last cent out of Warcraft fans.

Also Looking forward to Starcraft II. (saw it at E3 and I already have the demo) I personaly got to talk to the Blizzard guys at E3 and they admited the a MMRPG was a bad idea and basicly ruined Warcraft as a Stratagy game, thus there will be no Stasrcraft MMRPG (THANK GOD!) Blizzard has given us their word. If they break their word some one will get kicked in the balls at the next E3.

[:(]I am sorry you feel that way Joanus.  And I do hope you find something in gaming you enjoy!  [:)]

[:D]And yes.  World of Warcraft is a juggernaut (A GREAT ONE TOO!).  And IMO.  Don't mess with a good thing Blizz.

I said NO!  Dun touch it. You can pet it and give it treats.  [;)]

You do realize if you are using a one hand axe then you can use one in each hand?

I would also suggest swapping the warrior for a hunter...you may like it better. It has a bow and you can tame animals to fight for you...so while you run solo, which inspite of the fact that I have a guild, I do anyway...comes in handy...

If you get frustrated, stay away from the locks, mages, and priests...the cast time is FOREVER when you really need it...But it is handy with a lock that you get pets...they help alot...specially when you get the blueberry...(void walker) you use that guy with sacrifice and you absorb 1500 in damage like its cake.

Another thing is also....what are you spending your talent points on? Do you have first aid as a profession so that you can heal yourself? And are you using heal potions? I keep the heals on My action bar under 0 so that way I can just hit it as I would a spell and keep going.

I played diablo as well, and I have to say, I got burned out quickly...I think starcraft was mentioned, and well...I just didnt care for it, but Im not a sci fi fan at all. I got WOW for My Hubby as a christmas present on the suggestion of a friend, and I didnt think I would ever want to play it...but I really enjoy it...

I have to say I agree...Blizz did good with this one...they should leave it alone. Definately.

Aubre -> RE: World Of Warcraft (2/20/2008 1:20:01 PM)

Hunters are pretty much soloing masters, they can be a lot of fun in PVP too.

My druid pretty much owned flag running in Warsong.

I have a lock I use to take my agressions out on Alliance.  ;)  I LOVE LOVE LOCKS!  A.  They have the Whole DoT's going on. And that is just HAWT!!!  When I'm in a BG and I see a LOCK staring at me.  I just rip off my clothes and start dancing. Cause no way in hell am I going to make it out for the most part with those DoT's a starting.  And you know you can just tell when that lock is going to hand you your ass.  And 2nd.  They have the nummy enslave that I have been known to get turned on by on occassion.
And no I'm not talking about the succy.   ;)  She was cute in the beginning.  Now she's just like.  Nag nag nag.   ;)  *Runs for the hills*

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: World Of Warcraft (2/20/2008 2:59:48 PM)

yes..i did all those.  that is why i am in a new area.

yes i know you can use 2 one hand axes..but then you lose your shield.  i wouldnt want to lose my shield until im high level and have many hit points.  because i am solo and have nobody to back me up or cast spells.

i am not very good with group play.  i get to easily upset at say when a really nice weapon drops and someone else gets it.  in solo that doesnt happen.  i think the only place i would do group in WOW is in the dungeons where a ton of stuff drops and you have to play group because more than one creature attacks you.  and wow sucks for experience in group play.  i also dont do PVP because i have never done that..i would die so easily.

the main reason i play these games is because i can sit down and 5 hours will fly by quickly.  my only issue is the friggin $30 you gotta pay every 60 days.
i dont have a credit card so i can only get time cards.  this game isnt even utilizing my mad machine hardware.  so im hoping something that doesnt have a monthly fee will come out soon...that will use my 8600 GTS graphics card.. at the time i bought it, only the 8800 was better.  running dual core 2.4ghz with 2ghz 800 mhz ram with that vid.  its not the best of the best...but its damn good.

I've leveled a warrior to 70 and no, it isn't easy. As adverse as you are to group play, find a priest to group up with. I understand the whole getting less XP thing, but the rate you go through quests is staggering. One handed weapon and shield is the worst way to level a warrior, especially if it's your first character. One of the reasons you are having so much trouble is your damage output is so low. If you put your talent points in Protection, go to your warrior trainer and respec to either Arms or Fury. Both have pros and cons. If you'd like to know more, message me and I'll explain anything you want to know. :)

I lurve My lock...but My hunter...She's just gonna be bad ass..I made her to go to BG to make points for My lock...cos I cant seem to get My cast time up...which blows...But Obu, My lock, is just supa bad when it comes to the shadow bolt...I like the lil side hip kick she does when she tosses that ball of blackness out...Ive got alch and herbs with her...I just learned to make Immolation Oil...Which is SUPER dupa bad...it freaking does like 250 points of damage in under a minute and its like RAWR Snarl GROWL and they are on fire...combine that with Immolate, and Fire rain searing pain...bring the weenies...its a roast.

feylin -> RE: World Of Warcraft (2/20/2008 6:02:48 PM)

I think the gnome rogues have the cutest stealth walk -- makes me laugh every time she goes into the crouch.

To the OP:

I play on Eonar and have a 70 BE Rogue jewelcrafter.  It can be a real stress relief to farm or fish (especially for water and all the money it brings in), but I have the most fun with my guild doing what would be tedious quests.  The majority of the members live in the same state, so we have gotten together and had a blast playing Star Wars Trivial Pursuit (those geeks kicked my ass and I was even alive when the movies came out, they were not.) and a really vicious card game called "Lunch Money."  Which reminds me to plug "The Guild" on YouTube -- very funny stuff.  Good thing I went to visit my guildmates before I watched those clips.

Being a caster makes me crazy which would defeat the whole stress relief process so my warlock barely gets played unless I need potions.  I cannot PVP without embarassing myself but absolutely love bombing Halaa (rogue bomber -- fear me), respond to all Barren's chat comments with "so's yer mother," and have been known to start Murlok Movie Titles in trade chat when I am crafting.

If you do a search of WoW here you should find a thread that talked about starting a guild for people from CM, but I only found two or three people on at the time and didn't connect with them.  (I have forgotten which server they were on.)

On the Alliance side <shudders> of Eonar, I did make a gnome rogue to join a guild with a couple of like-minded friends.  That has proven to be quite fun.   While I can relate to faerytattoodgirl's greed about drops, the best times are with great groups and/or funny guildmates.  If you find the right group of people, the good drops go to the person that needs them.  Nothing better than getting a mail from a guildmate that has a choice weapon or armor gift in it.

Funniest Guild name I have seen to date:  Exalted with your mom  (something like that)

Anyone else have that urge to use the parental controls to limit play time on yourself? Not that I have.....

You can use paypal to pay for it instead of the cards.

provided you have a credit card in that paypal account.  trust me ..i went through the process with a paypal customer clerk over the phone and it kept asking me to ADD CREDIT CARD to my paypal account.  i had to use the 10 day trial then my cd 30 day trial then add my game card.

AAkasha -> RE: World Of Warcraft (2/20/2008 10:45:06 PM)

I got very into it for a couple of months after  I had some minor surgery and was required to take it easy.  Now and then I will go back to it, but I mostly enjoy solo type stuff, because I don't like staying on for long periods of time (planned out) so I feel bad leaving people if I have to go.  I think having a kinky guild would be a lot of fun.  A few people tried to get one together a few months ago but I don't know if it went anywhere, I got too busy to keep playing the character I had there.  My main character is a level 64 on Velen but I only play a few hours a week, if that. I might dabble again in it later. It's been at the same level for several months now.

CuriousLord -> RE: World Of Warcraft (2/20/2008 11:57:08 PM)

If you want to solo effectively, I'd suggest starting with a Warlock or Hunter.  Both classes are very effective, even in minimal gear.

Hell, I have a lvl 9 Warlock I just started last time I had some free time.  He killed two lvl 12 and one level 10 creatures at once with his lil Imp pet.  He'll get his Void Walker next time I get a chance to play (which sadly appears to be this spring break at earliest), which'll make him even more effective PvE (against monsters) because that darn imp has no life and died before the second monster in the above story bit the dust.  :P

Hunters are similar to Warlocks in the power respect.  They're slightly less dependent on skill, though.  (In other words, one's skill level can't help or hurt quite as much with a Hunter as it can with a Warlock.)  They're an easier class to play, though still more difficult than the Warrior.

A Warrior's my high character (not quite 70 yet, though).  He's a power house, but largely because I have an unconventional pet.. my slave Priestess.  :P  I imagine soloing with him would be tedious as there's no real way to heal yourself quickly as a Warrior without draining your cloth away constantly.  (Plus most bandages seem to only heal about half of your pool at the particular level you use it.)

PS-  I did solo a Warrior to 39, though, in my spare time when I first got the game.  It certainly can be done.  I didn't really find it difficult (to be honest), so you may want to consider new methods of fighting or/and talent distribution.
