Since it seems that lately there have been a good number of folks who have adored pet stories....

tell about something(s?) that your furbaby did that is funny, poigniant(sp?), adorable or whatever that YOUR furbaby has done.....

(I'll throw mine in after a bit...cause I'm sleepy...LOL)

Greedy, you already heard this one, but i'll throw it in anyway.

This morning i woke up to my darling Sh*t head kitten standing on the very top shelf of my desk, with JUST enough room for his four paws to perch there and i have no idea how he got himself up there. He looked like a vulture looking down on me.
The expression on his face just beat all;
"What? I'm not supposed to be up here?"

i had this really nice brindle boxer dog.
  He ran in a U-shape.
He ate a wicker basket, stuffing and all.
He got stuck on the washing machine and couldn't get down.
Ate instuliation and clorax, took him to the vet, he was fine, stayed alive.
Got stitches and the cone, somehow tore off the cone from his head and pulled the stitches out.
Had the worst smelling farts ever and when you gave him a pill for it they would become minty.
Used to have to cut up my shirts to put on him during late night winter walks.
  Ate a pack of cigarettes.
  Overbite and floppy ears.
Almost strangled himself...following my sister down the slide while he was tied to a post (not my sister's brightest idea)
Chased birds when they were in the sky.
Ran away from tiny dogs that my neighbor thought he was going to eat.
When my mom put him outside he would sit on the porch, when i took him out he ran down the street.
Ran inside my neighbors house while they cooked breakfast and went into their bedroom, had to get him while in my nightgown (we thought the husband might've been a wife beater too)
  Would bark at his reflection.
When he wasn't hungry would push his food down the basement stairs.
Attacked my slippers when they were on my feet (they had the bobby heads on them)
One time when taking a walk he saw a squirrel and chased it...with me attached to the leash...i was covered in dirt

that's all i can think of for now..

I don't know that it was adorable, but it was funny as hell......

I had a male german shepard was was insanely obedient, insanely protective, and insanely clutsy.      If it weren't for his agility challenges, I know I could have taken him to the Shutzhund III level.     That said, Apollo was a special dog and you couldn't help but love his clumbsy nature.     I thought of competing him often, but was worried about his less than agile ability.    The day that he twisted his elbow while trying to pee on a mail box confirmed the wisdom of my choices.

Apollo was a wonderfully special dog.  I have lots of great stories of his protective and obedient nature, but his lack of dexterity lead to a lot of good humor at his expense.

Pepper cat can send emails

Just last night (I had to pull an all night work session on top of yesterday daytime and today daytime - too much to do to catch up) she sent nine emails out on my work PC

She can also do internet searches, and find some whacky stuff

the best pet stories i have are about james's chow.  the chow and his cat didnt get along...well the cat didnt like the dog, but the dog liked the cat.  one day, james came home and heard whimpering.  he followed the sounds....he said as best he could figure it, the cat jumped on the kitchen counter and the dog followed.  she then jumped to the top of the icebox, and again, he followed.  when the cat jumped to the top of the china cabinet, the dog stayed put then couldnt get down.  they were glaring at each other from across the kitchen.

another cat/dog story, the dog was under the front porch, and the cops came to the door (manhunt for a suspect in the neighborhood) and james was talking to them...the dog peeked out and the cops were all "he isnt going to attack, is he?"  just then the mailman came up and the dog went to happily greet him and get scritchies....thaen another police officer came round from the back of the house.  "is this yours?"  turns his back and there is the cat, clinging to his vest and trying to eat a hole through it.  james retrieved the cat.

whoever comes up in the box from the address book - then she sends messages that say something that makes sense to her - "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeejjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj" or similar - whichever buttons she happens to walk or sit on!

she does this on the work PC, which means I make a few apologies, though usually its my name that comes up in the "to" box

another speciality is writing entries into Excel files and Word documents which are not immediately obvious to the eye, and her favourite - sitting on the delete button!

OK, now that I've had some sleep...  I bring you the Great Catnip Caper.

The characters: Simon (an incredibly smart Siamese/tabby mix), Baby (a mutt cat, cute as a button, dumb as a rock), me, and my (now ex) boyfriend.

Simon was a champ at getting into cabinets. We put those baby latches on all the lower cabinets.  We kept the catnip in a plastic container, placed carefully in the back corner of an overhead cabinet, behind glasses and coffee mugs.
One day, Jay and I had gone out for some reason.  We were gone about 3 hours. Normally, when we got home Simon and Baby would meet us at the door, so when there was no sign of them this time, we were a bit concerned.  We went through the house, only to get to the kitchen and quite a sight.
It seems that Simon had gotten up on the counter, opened the cabinet in which we kept the catnip, and somehow managed to get the container out..without disturbing any of the glassware. Best we could figure, he then knocked it to the floor where one or the other of them managed to get the lid off (lots of tooth marks).
Both the cats were stretched out on the floor, stoned as hell... Baby hugging the lid to himself, giving it long, loving licks.  Simon's head was deep into the container, one paw on top of it as if he were trying to make sure it didn't fall off...
Lot's of catnip flakes and dust all over the floor..

I wish I had those pics digitized..I'd post them..

i have two cats and i love it when i come in the room and my littlest one starts purring just seeing me.
i also love to tease them with the laser pointer, LOL.
They can also be horny little things, my dearly departed cat Crimson once went straight out the window, knocking the screen out going after a girl kitty!

Heh I have a stoned kitty tale too.I was attempting to erm... garden indoors. Yeah garden uhhuh. Well I got five of the purttiest plants, tall & green with happy little buds beginning. One morning I went downstairs to find Barney stretched out on her back with her lil paws up in the air, classic dead animal cartoon pose. I looked around and there was a big big pile of dirt next to my planter and five tiny bits of stalk. She had eaten all five plants down to the dirt, having waited til they budded. She was sooooo stoned her back legs dragged behind her for the rest of the day, kitty eyes all glazed and a serious case of the munchies. She kept trying to meow but could only make this weird squeaky sound hehehe. I was so worried I had to take her in to the vet and explain how she got into such a state  where she couldn't walk using her back legs, she just sort of dragged her butt along behind her. I felt like some kind of scuzzy pusher going after a little kid! (she was fine btw, just very very very high)She won't eat harvested or dry, only freshly growing and freshly budded. Even catnip has to be growing for her to eat it and boy oh boy does she eat.

Prized, do you mind if I ask the name of those pills?

I used to have a tiny little orange longhaired cat named Tigress. She was very definite on when things should get done, including when I should get up. I became quite accustomed to waking up to the pat of her paws on my cheeks. One morning my gf told me this was only the end of a lengthy ritual Tigress performed with the apparent intention of waking me up. She said she had been awake and watched it. I prided myself on being a lite sleeper so I scoffed at theidea. So the gf waited a week or two and got up early and taped Tigress licking my fingers, then walking around on my chest, then peering at my closed eyes from perhaps an inch away, all the while you can hear my gf snickering which made Tigress look over at her but I'm not sure Tigress knew my gf was people and could potentially have fed the little brat herself, finally Tigress takes a little fluffy paw and starts patting my face until it tickles me awake.

Just after college graduation, I worked late hours at a mall, and would have to ride the bus home after close, then walk a few blocks.  Since those blocks were not the most well-lit ones, I bought a can of personal defense spray.  One afternoon, I came home and the apartment stank to high heaven.  I thought the neighbors had cooked something nasty, lol, but then I found the can of spray.  My dog had gotten the small bag, gotten the can out of the plastic wrap & box. . .and then sunk a tooth in the can.

The dog had greeted me with wagging tail at the door, unfazed. A call to the vet indicated that those sprays didn't work on dogs. (QED)

Being human, I had to open all of the windows.

My biggest regret was that I wasn't there to see it happen.  But I'm also glad because of that human thing.

Ok first, I think my boxer is very similar to PP's -- right down to the U-shape running, overly-flaulent, cone-eating, furniture-consuming goofiness.  I do love the crazy mutt even though she makes me crazy at time.

Now for a real pet story from years back.  This one is a little gory but doesn't involve any pet being harmed.  My parents had this cat after I had moved away but my younger sister lived at home.  After years of cute kittenness she got old and passed away in th kitchen.  My mom called my dad and asked him to come bury the cat before my sister came home.  He did.  When my sister came home, they went outside to have a little service for her.  When they went behind the shed, there was a hole with nothing in it.  A little weirded out they went inside, there on the back inside they saw the cat (in not too good a shape) on the back step.  Seems the dog had dug her up and taken her to the the back for some dog logic related reason.  Seems fluffy didn't want to be in the ground.  He buried her again and that night they had dinner as usual after having said a few words for the poor cat.

Dinner that night had been smoked ribs or something from the smoker.  The next morning (Sunday) my dad went to clean out the smoker and dump the ashes behind the shed pretty much where the cat had been buried.  They went to church and about half way through someone came in and whispered to my dad that fire trucks were at their house. he rushed home to find that the shed and grass around it was on fire and the fire department was just finishing putting it out.  He had not done a very good job with the ashes it seems and had caught the grass on fire.  He went to back to see a whole crew staring at the ground.  As he walked up he saw standing around this group that was telling him not to get close.  A few minutes later the fire chief arrived and asked my dad to have a seat.  He then proceeded to tell him that his beloved cat had been consumed in the fire and that his men didn't know it was there while they were digging and putting out grass.  He started laughing as it seems Fluffy had once again been unearthed but this time by firemen as they did their job.

My ex-gf's cat uses one little claw to pick at her lower lip until she wakes up. She doesn't hurt her, just tugs at it a bit.
