Your own strength or lack thereof is irrelevant.

As there are other women here who had natural births, they will attest, with me, that strength is absolutely necessary to push the baby. And to make a speedy recovery. It is because women are strong that they are capable of achieving such a feat. A natural birth is quite gruelling; in no way is it easy. It's demanding on the body. It's HARD WORK, damnit. But oh... so worth it.

Why you wish to argue ad nauseam against this fact speaks to me of the fact that you probably belong to this faction of men who, deep down, probably in their subconscious, are terrified of this awesome feminine power.

PS: and, consequently, how do you feel about the blood? BOOH!

funny... in most fire dept training here.. the women are expected to be able to do a 'firemans carry' (which is what you just described) in order to be proclaimed as a fireman(woman).

Oddly enough.. many of those women are in the less than 5'6" range, less than 180 lb range.

Many of those same women pass the test.

Honestly, all joking aside ... Besides the fact that used she the term "wonderful love juices" whats so bad about talking about tampons and pads and menstrual flow? We're all adults. Presumably we've all dealt with these things at one point or another in our lives. Did you fall out in the floor the first time you had to change a pad? Hehe. I mean, ok so its not the most pleasant conversation ever but its not screamingly horrible either.

We can talk about anal sex, beatings, needle play, golden showers, swallowing versus spitting and about a gazillion other things and we're just fine. Mention a lil blood and mucus and everyone gets the heebie jeebies. How come?

edited to fix typos

good point...seriously

And I agree with both of you. I was up and about within the hour of delivery of all my children. Within 2 hours of delivery of my first (idiot that I was at the time almost 20 years ago) I knew I wanted a second. Modern medicine? Not really. Women have been having babies for a lot longer than the last 50 years. It's only been the last 100 years that they've been either forced or told they have to stay in their beds or homes. Used to be they just got back up and went on with life.

Good question though... Why can we talk about some things that are outrageously taboo in mainstream conversation but something that is a fact of life and basic biology gets our hackles up? Or is that another thread?

You're just nitpicking now smith.

I, and many others, have what is termed, by the medical profession, a natural birth. That doesn't include doctors visits to check your blood pressure, etc. A natural birth is a vaginal birth without the use of drugs or intervention by doctors or midwives.

You're right, I am nitpicking. But then I never said anything about a natural childbirth at first, she did. All I did was make a comment on how long the average woman is out on maternity leave after birth. She decided to throwout the whole natural birth thing which isn't really relevant to what I was saying.

this is becoming a hijack...most women take maternity leave, not to recover from giving birth but to stay home and take care of a newborn.

Actually, I belong to the faction that's fed up with insecure women trying to be men just to 'prove their strength.'

The fact is, BOTH sexes have their own strengths and their own weaknesses. Women seem to be insecure about theirs and thus seek to do what men do simply for some type of schoolyard bragging rights. When, 50 years ago, staying in the home and raising a family and running the household while then man was away was a feat that surpasses what women try to do today. This is evidenced by the fact that many women simply don't do it anymore. And that's why our youths are idiots. Because the parents rush off back to work and let the TV raise the kids.

Any idiot can HAVE a kid. Only a REAL, STRONG parent can raise a good one.

And those women are not the norm. They the ones who are capable where others are not. Some men don't pass the test. Doesn't mean all men can't be firefighters, only that some can't.

What amuses me is that my original reply is seen as reactionary crap and I was quoting one that I thought was reactionary crap. But I guess since that reactionary crap comes from a fellow female or perhaps because it was bashing men, you overlook it.

*chuckles* and here I thought it was because men have a lower pain tolerance.. and would die if they had to deal with so much pain on a monthly basis little alone in child birth.

Well, if we had to we would. It's that simple.

Luckily ya'll dont have to.. although we would prob. have fewer folks running around on this rock.

Well, when a man crumples, he's back up within a few minutes. When the pussy "shoots out" a baby, the woman is out for weeks and months, leaving her coworkers to pick up the slack.

Some how I dont think a tap on the willy equates to the trauma that the vagina goes through with natural child birth. Shoot a watermellon out of your penis and we can talk about your time off from work.

* nice to pick a fight occasionaly~ I know not all males are weak mind you.. I just don't like the whole thing where we get saddled with origonal sin thing and being the "weaker sex" My weaker sex ass.. LOL*

I'll leave you with the same argument that once made a nearly-feminist ex gf of mine spin on a dime to my way of thinking. I (jokingly at first) told her that women didn't belong in combat and she got offended. She was 5'4" and maybe 120 and I'm 5'11" and 190. I looked at her with her dropped jaw and said "Alright, we're in a firefight and I've just been wounded. Stand there and tell me an average girl like you is going to drag an average guy like me out of the line of fire without adding to the casualty count.

She just picked her jaw up and said nothing. Until I picked the same argument with a friend of hers at a party. As the friend's jaw predictably dropped, my gf was immediately agreeing with me and using the SAME example I gave her before.

By that token I dont think overly small people ( male or female) should be allowed into combat. I know of a 5'4 maybe 110 lbs soaking wet male who would break something lifting a heavy phone book. I don't want him on the front lines.. Nor would I want a girl that small on the front lines. However if they can pull thier weight I dont give a good damn what is in thier pants. Or for that matter who they chose to love. My fire fighting blonde Domme goddess of a friend of mine is currently surving in Iraq. She is big and strong enough to pull your ass or mine ( which happens to be bigger then yours ) out of a burning building little alone off the field. She is also hell on wheels on a horse with a sword. Damn I miss her.

Gwyn,
Who doesnt buy the "You all are just weak little girls" bit.

Smith--

Of course...and no one's opinion is better than any other's.  We all have our opinions, and that is what makes the world interesting and not dull.  We need to be tolerant of everyone's opinions....(and that is my humble opinion, hehe)

I doubt that, you'd still have lots of horny men runnin' around. We'd just be a lil easier to convince to wear condoms.

Hey, you made the comparisson first, not me. I just followed your train of thought to its logical conclusion.

Then answer me this: why is it when women are called for service from the guard, I see people freaking out saying "oh we can't send our daughters into war?" Why is it women seem to fight so hard to be allowed to fight with the men, but they can't be drafted? Why is it when I see a story about a woman who was injured in a combat zone, (Jessica Lynch anyone?) it's some national tragedy, yet men die everyday over there and no one seems to care?

I think whoever can do the job, should be able, in fact expected to do the job. And there ARE some amazonian women who are just as strong as some guys I know. The point is, if they're strong enough to do it, they can and they do. If men were intended biologically to have babies, they would. And the first thing they'd say afterward is "baby, you know that I'm all swollen still.....what do ya say we ummm...you know?"

You see, my reply to your original point was to show the rediculous nature of the generalizations you made. Apparently, it went over many people's heads here. Perhaps because I'm just the big, bad man picking on a girl. I don't know. You make generalizations, no one bats an eyelash. I come back with some of my own, and you'd think I walked into a women's auxillary and peed on the doilies.
