In my "secondlife" I am a gorean guard at a slavers camp.

In sl, there is a button at the botom right you can press, and people in the sim nearby your character can hear your voice, even if they are across the pond.

The kajira (slave girl) I was typing too,  just luuuurrrvvvved my English accent. Her southern USA drawl was strangely interesting to me too.

Please get a first life; it's better.

I too find myself attracted by accents. I've know lovely ladies with Chinese, Japanese, Indian, French, English, Irish and I can't forget the Scandinavian accents. But one of the most gorgeous was a lady from India. She dressed in sarees and had a perfect upper class English accent. I loved the dichotomy.

I do a very dichotomous Namaste when bowing for Master and for others at the beginning of a scene......

English accents do it for me. Nothing better than a London accent...

Sure it does; it is well know that people from North London live in tents and are poorly educated so this is reflected in their accents.

I was born in NY and raised in NJ so I have no accent whatsoever.

Aileen was bohn in New Yohak, and raised in New Joisey, so she has no accent whatsoevah.

Mine is a perfect blend of English, Caribbean with a twist of Midwest American (Yes the Minnesotans infected My speech.  Should have done college and Uni in different places.  I can still say "Are you coming with?" if I go to homecoming.) Bahamians think I sound Badjian and Badjians think I sound Bermudan.  I have no home accent!!!!!!!!!! *weeps*

I get warm for Australian, Canadian and Irish accents, but a Texas drawl leaves Me in a puddle.  (Has fond memories of Whitesboro, Texas, but that's a different story *winks*)

This whole thread has me grinning from ear to ear.

Being "One of her Majesty's exports to the colonies" as it were, I've very much enjoyed the attention my accent gets me. I'm public school educated, but my Mum was born in Catford so my accent can change at a whim. Doing different accents is something that I've always been complemented on, and when a frenchman compliments you on your french accent, you have to take that seriously.

However, when at rest, my accent is much more muted, as I tend to harden my A's when talking to my new countrymen ( Long story - but suffice it to say they were confused why I was talking about the cost of a plaster cast). Personally, I love a soft russian girls accent, and the southern belle is also quite invigorating. I've found that American's enjoy the "dirty cockney" because it "sounds english" (Thanks a lot, Dick Van Dyke)

One thing that I miss, however, is that no one ever gets Yorkshire or Brum putting on airs is Ironic. "Oo'd have thought that we'd be sittin' 'ere drinkin' Chateau de Chasily"

For the American readers who may be confused by this - those from North London have, altruistically, given up their opportunities for fee-paid education in order to contribute monies to the charities set up to buy South Londoners tents (to which they aspire).

What lots-of-letters-and-numbers meant in his post (but I feel didn't make sufficiently clear to our US cousins) was that N Londoners, living as they do at this somewhat higher level than their poor sarf of the river friends, are recognised by their rather attractive, almost "upper class", accents. I hope that helps clear the confusion.

I should also affirm that, unlike most Brits, I do not despise Sarf Londoners for their poverty - nay I admire them for their attempts to better themselves.

Accents, I love them, sometimes I just like to listen to a person speaking, I don't take in what they are saying, I am lost in the music of their voice.(I wonder then is that why when listening to songs, I prefer the music to the lyrics and for this reason I prefer instrumental music)

Of acents I like the soft accents, words spoken in their peculiar way with slowness and softness, the Southern US drawl spoken by a woman, the french language and latin both contain what I seek in fluid music, some variations of Irish and Scots all hold an attraction, I know them when I find them.

Some media sources of accents I find beautiful include;

Dolly Parton's Song 'Jolene',
Agent Starling's accent from 'silence of the lambs',
Braveheart, William Wallace in his french and latin speech,
Her out of Enigma's MCMXC ad, the french is beautiful.

You are predominantly in an auditory modality....not prying, but just curious....do you like telephone sex and listening......

Oh Canada.  The US was going to make Canada the 51st state until all those crazy frenchmen wanted their own state in a state.
Frenchmen you can't live with em and you can't live with em.  ehhhhh?

My sister moved to Texas and later South Carolina (Souf Ca'olahnah). This made it easier for my mother to tell us apart when one of us phoned her. Holly was the one with the southern accent. Holly's husband always said he was from Plum Nelly: Plum out o' Geo'gia, Nelly out o' Flo'dah.

Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots had me - and then the cat did the big-eyed putty-tat thing, and I nearly swooned.
