I have just got back from a munch, my first in Leeds (recommends it for anyone curious, really lovely bunch of people) .. and the end of the munch there was a needle play demo.

Now needles have always been a big NO! NO! for me. Those who know me a bit better know I have some medical things going on and they involve some seriously unpleasant contact with needles on a fairly regular basis. The only time needle play has come up for me before is being made to watch some pretty hardcore edgy porn (eyelids and the like) as part of a long extended threat play scene.(knowing needles scared me and exploiting that to fill me with fear) My perception of needles therefore is one of a) life threatening medical situations b) used a form of mentail torture.

Understandably therefore when the demo started I was standing well away from the stage bravely hiding behind a cushion.

But as the demo got going ... very competant guy doing it, obviously well informed and well practised .. I found myself creeping closer .. being less afraid .. more curious ... really curious ... so that when he actually got to the demonstration of various needle play techniques .. I was practically at the front.

By the time he offered to do some mild needle insertion on anyone curious to try I practically threw myself at the stage ... am now the proud owner of needle marks on shoulder, breast and thigh.

Seeing them objectively, not as part of extremem edgy play .. and seeing some of the beautiful decoration that can be created ..made me see needles in a totally different light .. Now i dont mean to imply that I am now totally cool with needles .. and if you brought a big one too near me i would probably find and excuse to lock myself safely in the bathroom .. but they are now something i really want to try .. and it is directly as a result of having had the chance to look at the thing objectively and dealing with them from a remote perspective. I was able to process what I was thinking withour having to also process what I was physically feeling.

So anyway .. to the point eventually ...

What NO! NO! have you had turned to a YES! YES! and what helped you to make that transition?

I don't have a NO to YES - just felt moved to say I so admire people with an open-minded attitude to life. Closed off prejudice against a form of play can lose one so much.

Pain play in general ...

When I first became interested in BDSM I was totally against pain. I didn't even like spankings if they hurt too badly. Gradually though I've discovered my inner masochist and the more I learn, the more I think I am less of a submissive and more of a masochistic bottom.

I'm not sure HOW this change of heart occured ... I guess it was just natural progression for me. As I learned to trust my partners, I was more open to trying new things and the more I tried, the more I enjoyed.

Pain and anal penetration - the latter was an absolute, no way, no how, not in this lifetime pal hard limit.

Hmm my oh hells no was Breath play and those damn clothes pins..

I now love breath play.. but I am very careful of Whom I do it with of course..

Although it was not a(hard limit) "NO" thing for me> I was still shocked at my reaction afterward was such a resounding " yes yes yes!! oh gawd yes! " when I was introduced to them by Tyson.

you are a stronger woman then I am, softness-- I'm a baby when it comes to needles (I have to close my eyes when they draw blood).

Water sports was a no for me until someone told me how he viewed it and it sounded more appealing then how I'd always looked at it, so now it's a maybe.
