The grime rusty chain leaves on a sweaty body can be just lovely, and psychologically powerful to boot.
Wash the chains first, a burr on the rust could cut you, and tetanus isn't good.

Tetanus is an anaerobic toxin.  You are not in danger from tetanus if the cut or abrasion is superficial.  Just sayin’……………

OrrisKitten -> RE: Chains- and experiences (2/24/2008 9:01:38 AM)

Tetanus isn't the only thing you have to worry about if you take something out of the junkyard.

Radioactive monkey feces, for instance.  That can happen.

MiladyElaine -> RE: Chains- and experiences (2/24/2008 9:02:35 AM)

I've been thinking of using chains of late Myself!  I think I'm going to opt for cuffs AND chains - BUT I'm going to buy those plastic coated chains they use for bikes, etc. that are long and some have combination locks.  That way it will protect furniture and still be noisy enough for the pychological impact.

Missokyst -> RE: Chains- and experiences (2/24/2008 9:36:23 AM)

Ya know.. I have been enjoying chains since I was a kid.  I can't say I ever found a rusted one, or those with the implied burrs and such.  Doesn't anyone ever use common sense without going overboard?  Feel it, look at it, use it.  Sheesh.
For the record chains feel cool on the flesh, then warm quickly.  They are heavy and secure, comforting and sometimes pinchy.

LadyHathor -> RE: Chains- and experiences (2/24/2008 12:11:38 PM)

a stiff black leather posture collar, 2 matching black leather cuffs, 2 matching black leather restraints--a length of chain snaked by firelight through o rings, dragged against cool, goosed flesh..

quick intakes of breath as the cold metal touches skin, nipples, chest, neck, ribs, ever snaking, slowly upward, then down locking hands to neck, flowing in the orange glow of the fire passing down calves, through ankles, up, slowly, coldy against bobbling erection, past shrinking, expanding balls to waist, through yet another ring, the soft chink chink, chink, slowly down the leg to the last ring--click.

chains, enslave U/s both---

LaTigresse -> RE: Chains- and experiences (2/24/2008 12:22:35 PM)

I adore chains, chains and leather.......yummm.

DesFIP -> RE: Chains- and experiences (2/24/2008 12:26:20 PM)

Make sure the room is warm and you have a blanket. Rope doesn't transfer the coldness of the air temp the way chain does. And make sure it won't cut her, unless you've discussed and been given the okay for cutting. Even so, it's preferable that a cut be deliberate with an appropriate instrument, not accidentally leaving blood on her good sheets and making you look like an incompetent dork.

And be prepared to get it off quick if she can't tolerate cold. Many people can't, this is something that ought to be discussed first.

Oh eyesopened! What a kindness to post the full recipe. I came over all squiggly reading that. (And the "really want to try" thing - how are you fixed for a trip Portugal? Tonight? Bring chains.)

Marry me Kyst? Not for the boring sex or kinkiness or anything - just for the common sense (and the chains of course).

Aneirin -> RE: Chains- and experiences (2/24/2008 3:09:55 PM)

What a subject, chains, I love them, metal bondage is my thing.

I used to work as a lifting equiptment inspector, a big part of that was laying out long lengths of bright, shiny chain for visual examination.Try as I may, my mind was oft to wander and with that the realisation I had lost my link. It always took me ages to examine a chain, my employer oblivious to my mind took that as my being thorough. I was thorough, I must have examined the chain at least twice!

And I have that most delicious of recipe's saved for a special time.

Missokyst -> RE: Chains- and experiences (2/24/2008 3:15:02 PM)

Heh... for the record I have my own toys.. and I come with chains.

First off... Rusty Chains are a lawsuit waiting to happen.  There is no way to mitigate the risk of rust on bare skin.  Especially shit straight out of a junkyard that may have industrial oils and other toxins on it.  No.  Stop posting 'advice' please.

Oh please. A lawsuit?

There is no way to mitigate the risk of rust on bare skin? What risk are you talking about, please. Can you be specific?

Lots of people who work for a living spend eight hours per day with plenty of rust on bare skin, often incuring cuts and abrasions along the way. Ask a boilermaker's apprentice, the guy who repairs your exhaust system, or any deckhand or wiper in the Merchant Marine. They are all all likely to spend hours per day wearing industrial oils on skin from time to time as well.

I have plenty of personal experience with this, first and second person, in industrial settings and in kinky ones. Is it coincidence that throughout the decades neither I nor any of my co-workers nor any of my partners have ever suffered any of these unmitgatable, lawsuit inducing effects of rust on skin?

Your advice sounds wonderfully noble and authoritative, Toasty. I'm ready to learn from you. Precisely what are the uncontrollable risks of rust on skin?

Thanks

LOL I am still trying to get the mental image out of my head on why someone would gather their toys from the junkyard..

I don't believe in telling people very often that they are an idiot for thier kinks. But, just saying, 'so you can moderate the threats from needles, knives, guns, ect, ect,' is not a sufficent answer. When people post about those types of edge play, they give specific and helpful advice on how to moderate the risks. So, could you please tell us how to properly use rusty chain to make it as safe a play source as possible?
I sleep in chains. My ankle is chained to the bed. A chain runs from my collar to both wrist cuffs, too short for me to fully open my arms. My ankle chain is long enough to reach the bathroom, only because I am diabetic and I pee 50 times an effing night.
We often use chains when we play. chains are padlocked to my cuffs and then to the bedframe or playframe. Regardless of how much I twise, there is no significant pinching. I am able to gram the chains in my hands for support and ect when I am being beaten or otherwise hurt. Yes, I like it alot.

RopesOverCuffs -> RE: Chains- and experiences (2/24/2008 9:30:34 PM)

Wow a lot more posts came in after I had gone to bed last night, good thing I decided to check this thread again today lot of good ideas ( not really planning on inserting them anywhere thats something you could've kept for yourself lol but thanks though)

Does anyone have a specific chain size and type recommended that would have the smallest chance of pinching or causing "unwanted" pain to the sub?

ldya -> RE: Chains- and experiences (2/25/2008 2:22:37 AM)

Oh my! *prints out for future use*

edit: I mean the recipe! That is HAWT!
