Status: offline 		I was born on St David's Day (Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant), which is marked traditionally by the daffodil (peter's leek). I adore flowers and the daffodil, as far back as I can remember (18 months of age when I first picked one after running across the lawn barefoot and giggling as the grass tickled my tiny feet) has always been my favourite flower. I recently saw the first spring (albeit a little early) daffodils in people's gardens and whenever I do I cannot help but smile warmly as it's almost as if they are militarily (is that even a word? lol) standing to attention and their brightness induces a feeling of wellbeing. Other favourites are irises, lilies and freesias for their amazing scent and delicate beauty, although the daffodil will be seen in practically every room in my home on my birthday.

What are your favourite flowers and why?

Status: offline 		I was watching Martha Stewart on time long, long ago!  And she said the Scottish army used to wear daffodils on their shoulder in case they got caught by the enemy they would eat it to kill themselves.  I tried to do reserch on it but couldn't find any info one way or the other.  I wanted to see just how deadly they were.

I like all bright colored flowers and some white ones.  I tend to favor roses over most others.

I mean, really.. how could anyone NOT like them?  big and bright an cheerful :) I drove through Kansas (I think..one of the plains states..) on backroads one trip...through field after field of sunflowers!  I took a nuch of pictures just because it looked like the whole world was covered with them,... sadly,I lost the photos in one of my moves *(sigh*

Status: offline 		That's interesting, I've not heard that before and while I have to go to bed in a minute (I have to be up very early and it's almost 11pm here) I'll see if I can find something on that tomorrow during my day.

I adore roses too, not the typical red (they dont do anything for me) but peach, white or yellow roses. A friend of mine picked some roses from her garden and I could smell their scent before she actually walked into my home with them. Beautiful!

And Greedy, I love sunflowers too. I bought some for my mother last year for Mother's Day, a huge white jug and filled with beautiful sunflowers, stunning!

Status: offline 		Lilies .. gladiolas......roses.....geraniums.... pansies.....daffodils....wisteria......hydrangia.......impatiens ......almost anything but carnations or marigolds and why .. cause they are beautiful and just that ..they all make me smile....

Status: offline 		Except for easter lilys, I adore all flowers. I have 4 big flower beds and am building a private garden this spring to grow things that need more shade and/or less wind. I have a special fondness for unusual roses, add a new one each year. Also, I have a honeysuckle vine growing on a splitrail fence near the path from the house to the garage. I can smell it the moment I walk out either door all summer. The hummingbirds love it also.

Status: offline 		Tigerlilies - always have since i was little. i had the seasame street video story about tigerlilies

Mexican poppy - easiest flowers to grow living in the desert

The roses I had in my yard living with my mom - we had bought red and white roses and at somepoint we ended up with lavender and  hot pink roses.

Status: offline 		Wisteria is pretty common in the UK and the most beautiful lavender colour to be seen decorating the front of a lot of homes. As I was growing up, I remember most people's gardens having hydrangeas in them, but few these days and that's a shame as I miss seeing those big balls of colour.

Status: offline 		This is the reason I miss having a garden. This is the first time I can remember in my life where I haven't had access to a garden and that's something I greatly miss. Being in an apartment (flat in the UK) I don't even have access to a window boxes, which is pretty common among flat owners, as I have the old fashioned sash windows which can't have anything attached, so the only thing I can do is buy myself cut flowers, although I prefer to see them in gardens/fields, etc...

It must be amazing to see the hummingbirds and sounds as if you live in such a beautiful place.

Status: offline 		Lilies are gorgeous, there are so many different varieties, all lovely. I can tell spring is well and truly here, the birds awoke me just after 4am and are so loud here today!

Status: offline 		Many times I have had to settle for cut flowers too .. .but its not like they are a true hardship!!! .. nothing lifts my mood like flowers even a handful of wildflowers and all is right with the world again

Status: offline 		Lavender... I was born in Provence, and I was surrounded by lavender fields throughout my childhood... a carpet of blue flowers, the smell of lavender and the sound of crickets. Pure bliss.

Status: offline 		I adore Lavender.. when my beloved boykitty died, I planted a lavender plant on his grave.. but it seems that Georgia soil isnt good for lavender *sigh*

I love Zinnias too.

Status: offline 		Smells are powerful memory triggers, and flowers absolutely transport me back into the past. Lavender has magical powers to me :-) . Sorry about your cat, though. Did you try a different flower (I know absolutely zilch about gardening)?

Status: offline 		not yet..he's buried in my mom's yard in Atlanta.. I'm in FL.. thnking when I go up in may for a friends wedding I may try marigolds (theyre hardy).

Yeah, lavender is a powerful scent for me, too.

Status: offline 		Pansies cuz they have sweet smiling faces.Carnations cuz they last so long in a vase. (and if you add food coloring you can change the white ones)Tea roses cuz they feel like elegant elves to me.Dandelions cuz they tickle then go poof.Sunflowers cuz that was my nick for years.Orchids cuz they are exquisite in their variety.Lily of the Valley cuz of their bell shape.Daffodils cuz they are sunshine in a flower.Hydrangea cuz they are a ball of flowerness. I detest gardening but appreciate the finished product.

Status: offline 		Wildflowers are delightful, often I have arrived home with a bunch of gorgeous flowers which, later on after a little research, has uncovered that they were actually weeds. How could something so pretty be a weed? lol
