GreedyTop -> Given names (2/25/2008 10:28:19 PM)

Working at a hotel, I get to see a lot of names (oh GOD don't I).

Recently, we've had Emily, Victoria, Elsbeth,  & Alissandra check in (no, not all together..get yer minds outta the gutter).
These are all names I like.

What are some YOU like?

I like the name Chris.  It is androgynous, but in a pleasant way.  Not like Pat, which I don't like so well.

MissMorrigan -> RE: Given names (2/26/2008 1:55:08 AM)

I used to work in a hotel at the weekends while still at school, so many years ago and the things I have seen... oy oy oy !!!

I love the names Swoosie and Thandie. Lily is also lovely. When I was four years of age I had a dolly I called 'Solange' and used to say that when I grew up and married my Bahrainian Prince (at eight) we'd call our baby Solange lol

Funnily enough, I refer to my vagina as my 'swoosie'.

Level -> RE: Given names (2/26/2008 3:03:14 AM)

Elisabeth (but not with a "z"), Alicia, Nikki.

My favorite is probably: "אריאל" (Ariel; /ʔəˑrjʔəl/, though I'm partial to making it /æːrɪəl/)

Otherwise: Angela, Beorn, Cathrine, Denna, Ersbet, Fenris, Gorgoth, Hope, Inanna, Jodi, Karen, Lilith, Marivs, Natasha, Rebecca, Sasha, Turiel, Una, Violet, Willow, Xanne.

I like Sophie or Sophia.

Now I have to think some more....

Chloelicious -> RE: Given names (2/26/2008 9:41:51 AM)

For a guy: Nathanael

For a girl: Garance and Clemence.

WaratahBlossoms -> RE: Given names (2/26/2008 9:56:20 AM)

Oh goodness.
When I was pregnant, the amount of names that went through my head was sickening.
So many of them!!

Even though I share it with my mother, I love the spelling of my name.
It's Kathryn.

Girls:
Allison
Adrienne
Kennedy
Charlotte
Janine

Boys:
Maddox
Alexander
Seven
James
Kai

I like "normal" names but I also like some that are a bit more interesting.
(Yes, if my daughter had been a boy, she would have been Seven Alexander. Haha!)

I love it when parents break gender name stereotypes and name a girl baby Jason or something.
And yet, androgynous names annoy me a bit.

But I hate girls with names like Summer, Misty, Autumn, Dawn, etc.
I think they're tacky and mean.

GreedyTop -> RE: Given names (2/26/2008 10:32:40 AM)

I knew a chick that named her daughter "Sierra Dawn"

*twitch*

MissMorrigan -> RE: Given names (2/26/2008 10:40:41 AM)

I'm sure many will enjoy the sight of those twin peaks in the early mornings when she comes of age [:D]

GreedyTop -> RE: Given names (2/26/2008 10:43:15 AM)
