That's what happens when people name their kid 'Sierra Dawn'! Oh yes, indeed!

You need to stop drinking at the computer :p

Could have been worse, what about Fifi Trixibelle? Isn't that one of the Geldof children?

GreedyTop -> RE: Given names (2/26/2008 10:48:43 AM)

You think Apple is bad, what about Rumor and Scout??    Celebrities often give their kids the most jacked up names!  Those poor poor kids  [8|]

[8D]  After seeing celebrity names it made me feel better about my own.  Might be different, but isn't freaky weird, seems normal when compared to the Zappa kids!

Thats almost as bad as 'Seymour Koch'. My stepfather was selling some fishing rods privately, he had to go out for an hour and when he came back I handed him a bit of paper telling him to return a call from a Seymour Koch, it had the number listed... He phoned up, my mother and I could hear him repeatedly saying, "Yes, Seymour Koch". What's funny is that it was an opticians and he was livid when he realised he'd been 'had'. My mother and I only really cared once we'd stopped busting a gut from laughing so hard. Little things please little minds, I guess lol

Scout at least has a literary precedent (To Kill a Mockingbird).

ok, Dweezil and Moon Unit.. but we're talking Frank Zappa.. THAT can be forgiven (but lord know s*I* ain't gonna be following that trend)

I went for a job as an exec at a bank. I was being interviewed by a panel of three. The first two introduced themselves, then the third said, "My name is Mr Peter Pratt, Pratt with two 'T's, Pratt, remember that, PRATT with two T's!" Had he been joking, I'd have just smiled and laughed inwardly, but the seriousness on his face cracked me up, I tried to stifle a laugh, I'm looking around the room, my face getting redder and redder, could hear my ears begin to squeak with the pressure and eventually I just cracked up, once I started I couldn't stop, tears were rolling down my face as I exited the room!

By far, the best "what were they thinking" site on baby names:  http://www.notwithoutmyhandbag.com/babynames/index.html .  I have a particular affinity for the chapter called "brought to you by the letter Y". The author's comments are after each citation.

Some of my favorites:

I once met a lady named Rodana. I think she runs a successful internet business.
Comment:  In her spare time she destroys Tokyo.

Brooklyn Makenzie or Alexia for a girl and Hunter Gage, Justus Brice, or Darian for a boy and... The name Jaden for a girl or boy
Child grows up to become character in Danielle Steele novel.

And then later...

Does anyone have any suggestions? We are all up for exotic names. We especially like Japanese names but have yet to find any that strike us.
There's always Rodana.

Poor guy, as I exited all I kept thinking was, "What a prat... with two T's!"
