Statepalace -> When you give a cupcake an enema..... (2/26/2008 2:10:00 PM)

You get spring fashions.

Yeah, yeah, another woman griping about clothes. Well, I HAVE to go shopping, because I have to dress a certain way - my Dom does not go for the tomboy look. Plus (grumble) He's right in that it makes me look more "professional".

So I go shopping today. Looking around at all of the lace, RUFFLES, and more ruffles, bows, and frothy layers, I wondered what the hell could inspire designers to come up with this mess.

Then it came to me. I imagined that silver haired guy on Project Runway saying "This week's challenge is to create a look inspired by cupcakes. I want you all to imagine a cupcake. Now imagine giving that cupcake an enema. That is your goal."

I agree that current fashion stinks. Those babydoll dresses with no waist make even rake thin models look six months pregnant. It's blousy. I advise high waisted pencil skirts and heels. The rest will follow naturally :-) .

Oh man, i do not even want to go into the visual the whole give a cupcake an enema thing   blech!  lol

agreed kittinSol.   i tend to wear professional clothing which generally means pencil or A line skirts, heels, and as i am not a fan of frilly blouses, i tend to try and find simple yet attractive non button up tops.   When it comes to dresses i prefer straight lines without a lot of patterns to distract the eye or mind.

Shop around, have fun doing the girly girl thing of trying on a ton of outfits.  Hopefully you can find something that will please him, and not make you want to gag when you look in a mirror. [;)]

High waisted pencil skirt? Check.

Heels? Check.

Just need to update the colors, as I'm a big black/white fan. If not that, then it's brown, so since it is officially spring in Orlando, I went today hoping for a shirt or skirt in my same styles, just in lighter colors.

Nope. Ruffle, tiny polka dots and ribbons - all at once. On everything. Been doing the whole "dress like a girl" thing for months now, and shopping isn't quite so painful anymore. Till today. Freakin' cupcakes.

If the fluff is in the display window then the good stuff is on clearance racks and in the thrift shops. Keep mum or root for more fluff.

Anthracite grey is beautiful with dark hair like yours - I think you can find anything you need as long as you steer clear of the clearance racks . BAD advice, Zensee [:D] .

Kittin! You haven't see my spectacular collection of ladies professional office wear, obviously.

I'm sure it's beautiful, and tasteful to boot, Zensee, but something tells me that StatePalace needs a different look from the one you so boldly don at your office [sm=biggrin.gif]

You're just jealous because I get all the flowers, biatch.

Z,

You know I'm into stripes, not flowers, you chestless harlot.

Lol, I'm so glad you posted this complaint because it made me go google "dresses" - and while I can see how they'd annoy a former tomboy - I LOVE them! Tight bodices & floaty flippy skirts, yum! Make me feel like Marilyn Monroe. Now I'm dying to go shopping... but we're getting 16 inches of snow tonight, grumble grumble. Well, at least it will keep my wallet safe. May have to take the day off tomorrow though....[;)]

As soon as the blooms fall off, I'll come and beat you with the thorny stems.

Nope, tartan's out - it's not a spring pattern at all, plus the punk look's done and gone. StatePalace, I hope you're taking note of this catty exchange, as it's full of useful fashion tips [:D] .

And Zensee... you need a wax [8D] . Your hairs are showing through your tights [:D] .

Sinergy -> RE: When you give a cupcake an enema..... (2/26/2008 5:42:25 PM)

The problem I have at the office is if I show up with steel-toed pumps that dont match the greasy pants, ratty t-shirt, and neon-yellow vest I wear, I end up laughed off the job site as some sort of weird fashion disaster.

Women have so many more choices for fashionable footwear.

I am so jealous.

I miss my steel toed boots.

You could always find a Mistress and start cross dressing, lmao.

Statepalace -> RE: When you give a cupcake an enema..... (2/26/2008 6:23:05 PM)

Taking notes, yep yep.

No tartan. Not for spring. Don't wear tights when you need a wax.

I have to admit that I am a serious clearance rack shopper, though. At the higher end stores where I can never afford anything, I circle the clearance racks like a vulture. Every now and then you find something still fresh enough to consume.

Well, there's always the option of adding some ruffles to the steel toes pumps. Just don't go with plaid. Apparently it's not a spring color [;)].

What if it matches my tartan?

McSinergy

p.s.  I just hate it when I have to go aloft in my kilt.

I'll rather go aloft in a kilt than spend a full day in latex panties and pantyhose. Much better cross breeze.
