I come from a family of very dominant and extreme personality types. My family environment molded and expected my submissiveness to them - yet at the same time - I was expected to be intelligent and incredibly capable to handle any type of chore/situation that would arise. My upbringing instilled the basics of my submissive nature. My personal growth, as years gone by, has been of my choice, instead of expected by others. I've also recognized and embraced within my submissiveness is as part of my nature as breathing.

i'm only girl and oldest out of 5 so naturally i am my military dad's little girl - the spoiled, bratty princess who loves getting her way. on the other hand i am my mom's daughter as well who taught me how to be strong, aggressive, independent. self-motivated, etc in her daily life. both switching between dominate/submissive at times. my family life is switch i suppose and that would make me one too however that would depend on man i'm with.

fr hell if I know. My mother tried to raise me to be the uber feminist she couldn't be married to my father. Somewhere along the line I discarded that soap box but kept the independence. To my father I was the oldest of two girls, his football buddy and the son he never had, he taught me to be self relient and the art of debate. At work and as a single parent I am hell on wheels, decisive and in control. It's a role that never fit me well in a relationship. Could it be because I had such an assertive male role model that I expected/deserved someone like him? Who knows, but I bailed on every relationship when I realized that I'd lost respect for the man who'd let me be in control. But it could be the genes. My father did have a few nice whips and when my grandmother grew frustrated with breaking yard sticks over by butt without getting me to stop laughing at her, my father presented her with a wicked paddle. I have to get that from my parent's house one of these days.

It's definietly in the genes. Every situation and person I have ever come up against tried to teach me to be submissive. I can do it perfectly well but it's not who I am. I'm dominant and proud to be so.

I couldn't begin to tell you where it comes from. I have known since I started dating and discovered sex as a teenager that I was different but I didn't know what it was til college.

Past experiences and how I handled them then and how I handle experiences now make me who I am. My morals, standards and expectations of myself make me who I am. What makes me kinky and or submissive? I think my sexuality was determined by certain traumas in my life. They have molded me and what baggage I do have left I try not to let it ruin me.

experience has made me who i am, both the good and the bad experiences have brought me to this very special place in life. but how did those experiences come to me? i believe in the law of attraction, knowing what i think becomes my reality.

It would be good if who you are also included knowing how to use "dominant" vs "dominate." Someone choosing to perceive my personality as identical to my orientation doesn't make me feel yummy and validated. It makes me feel like they are presumptuous and overgeneralizing. I am predictably idiosyncratic.
