I think that one of the things that makes our lives as enjoyable as they are is the differences between each of us. I do not think there is anything perfect for I believe perfection in and of itself can be very boring. It is the imperfections and differences that feed our minds, our interests and desires. I for one welcome those things and like the energy that is generated when imperfections appear for it is then that I can focus my attention on addressing and dealing with those things. That is how we grow and how we learn.

In free societies like we have in the US, the UK, and most of Europe, I think we have the right idea: freedom for everyone to live as they see fit. If you are either a male or female sub, or a male or female dominant, (or a switch) you have the opportunity to find a way of living that you enjoy, and find satisfying.

I spent several years of my life, fighting the battle to keep a small monthly play party open to everyone, and make it something that would attract a great many people. It was a sort of "gateway" group, where people new to the scene could experience various things with a minimum a danger, and even possibly find a RL partner. But naturally, there were those who felt that the group should be slanted toward one form of domination or another, or that we should ban gays, or that we should ban this or that... If this is the kind of hell you go through when running a society at large, then I want no part of the larger picture. It's bad enough dealing with the squabbling on a small scale.

I just try to treat everyone with dignity and respect and ask that I be treated in kind.

It would be nice if everyone's skills and talents were appreciated as they deserve to be, and if everyone's disabilitie were accommodated at every level. But I know that ain't gonna happen, so I just do my best to encourage it at the level I can attain.

A society in which people are free to do what they want, so long as it doesn't hurt or interfere with others. (Some judgement call involved there.)

While the idea of a woman being dominant feels alien to me, nothing against it. I mean, what if I were born just as I am but in a woman's body? How am I to say it couldn't happen? Plus I know some awfully submissive guys, so it just seems like people should be able to do what works for 'em.

While I love being submissive, got to disagree with this. I can think of a few women who don't have a submissive bone in their body and this would be hell on earth for them. I like having the choice. I do wish we lived in a society though that seemed more tolerant to people who want to be submissive, or dominant for that matter.

In my magical world, there would be non-allergenic kitties, and rocket packs, and no sexually transmitted diseases, and guys would have to take a pill to become pregnant, and fashion designers would have to love women, and teachers would be millionaires and probasketball players would be paid minimum wage, and George Washington Carver planted soy beans instead of peanuts, and President Gore won the recount in 2000 and there was no 9/11, and everyone would wear colour-coded handkerchiefs to help identify, saaaaaaay, hot straight male alpha subs.

Personally, I think what you describe would accord with the nature of the majority of men and women, no matter how they rationalize behaving differently under pressure of culture and law. But I also think that there are myriad degrees of variation, inversion, and exception which merit respect, as a matter of personal freedom. So, I couldn't support the kind of society you describe as a cultural and legal imperative. But as a lifestyle option, welcome aboard.

How about simply a world where we can be who we really are without this or that group telling us how to feel and what to think? My others biggest issue is that her mother raised her with the ideals that she should never bow to or submit to a simple "man", but she feels inside that she wants nothing more then to serve one to her best ability. Because those raising her did it one way with a complete disregard for her thoughts or what was in her heart tends to lead to a lot of internal conflict.

I for one have issues with the "every man should be dominant and every woman should be submissive" line of thought because that is forcing people into positions in society that they may not be best suited for, there are many very dominant females and many very submissive males and both have their places, and being what they are makes them happy.

I would like to see an end to the ideals that being dominant or submissive is a character flaw, and would love to see less "Dom/Dom" and "Sub/Sub" vanilla relationships in the world as most of them tend to be bound to failure, accept what you are, admit what you need, make a relationship that works and be happy!

I understand this is a nice little fantasy for you. I’m gonna burst your bubble here and point out that gender specific expectations don’t work well because there are too many unique variables with each person. Your utopia leaves out many people; the woman who are dominant, the men who are submissive, members of both sexes who believe that each person in the partnership have equal authority. Not to mention gay woman or men who dominate or submit to same gender partners.
The reason the ‘traditional’ ways (and which tradition are we speaking of? 50’s? Victorian? ) changed over time is because many people felt stifled and forced to fit in a way that was not who they really were. I know many others were satisfied with the status quo, but if that is your wish then make it true for your own world and try to understand that you can’t, nor should you, demand that everyone live there lives according to what works for you.

personally the only thing I would like to see is people to have a better grasp of the consequences of their actions. I think it would not change the world at large i don't think it will change big things on either end of the spectrum, just clean up a little bit of shit in the middle.

leaving reality aside, my perfect world would be one where no one was ever hungry, where there was never a reason (or excuse) for war, a place where children were never abused or exploited and children never died before their parents. Babies would never be born drug-addicted. In my perfect world the only 'celebrity' would be a person who enriched the lives of others. Oh, and in my perfect world, every dog owner would clean up their dog's poo.
