GreedyTop -> venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 7:49:27 PM)

GAH!!

For the past year or so, I've been juggling my bills.  I am SERIOUSLY underpaid for my job.

Today, I got a notice that my phone is being cut off until I pay almost $500. for back payments.
My electric bill is behind.
so is my internet/storage, and a few others.  All because I need to juggle from month to month.
I also owe my employer (as of this moment) $80.00.

Yes, I understand that my money management skills need some work../. but I also understand that all the money mgt skills in the world aint gonna help if ya DO NOT MAKE ENOUGH to cover stuff.

*bleah*

So I am looking for a second job.

\end rant\cryabyin\bitchpissmoaning

just needed to get that out..LOL

LadyHibiscus -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 7:51:35 PM)

I feel your pain.  Not the unpaid bills part, but the not having enough money to cover escalating expenses like the fucking blue cross card which is now $600 and the deductible that will get met way earlier since the MEDS went up in price.  grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Owner59 -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 7:57:44 PM)

Sorry kid,wish I could help.

GreedyTop -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 7:58:33 PM)

oh dont even get me started on medical.. I dont HAVE any,., my med care is ER only.. and I can never pay the bills./. *sigh*  I HATE that.

And I don't qualify for assistance.. I make "too much" money...

bastards.

GreedyTop -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 7:59:34 PM)

thanks  Owner.. I do appreciate the thought :)

MzMia -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 8:01:16 PM)

{{{{Ah GT}}}
Most corporate bastards could care less about working folks.

I hope you are able to get a much better paying job, with benefits, soon!

You are certainly worth it, you are marvelous!

It is going to happen for you!
girlfriend you got mail, also.

lauren0221 -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 8:05:23 PM)

I am so sorry. Money stuff is awful, I know. Big hugs.

xxblushesxx -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 8:11:02 PM)

I totally understand....
I've been through it.
The only reason I'm not now, is because I'm a beloved pet...

LadyRainfire -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 8:15:18 PM)

*hugsssss*

I can relate, GT. I'm always juggling something here. I'm a divorced mother of 3 teen monsters, errrrr, children and it's always "mom, I need this, mom - I need that, mom, I want something, mom, mom, mom...." Then they wonder why I blow a gasket when I get a $300 monthly cell phone bill.

I wish I could help too but my luck is such that I'd probably cause you more trouble. [&o]

BTW, every time I see your sig line, I think of a picture I have of my cat Squishy Baby and me. Where I'm trying to work on the computer but she's napping on my head. Talk about being owned and operated by the cats....

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 8:18:48 PM)

move to canada..get disability...$1000/month + drugs (all unless elective) + dental and complete health care. (unless elective)

xxblushesxx -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 8:58:28 PM)

Well...yah...but...like, what is elective?
Yanno?
Have your tooth filled is elective...have it pulled is free?
Have your heart operated on is elective...have it pulled is free?
It can become quite the conundrum...yanno?

CuriousLord -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 9:05:02 PM)

Sorry to hear.  =/

Any possibilty you could put out applications to replace your current job with an employer who might pay more?  (Then ditch your current job if you find one?)

PanthersMom -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 9:10:27 PM)

i know what you mean, i'm in the same boat.  money is tight for everyone i know, even those folks who i would have described as comfortable.  just got to keep plugging away and going to school, maybe things will get better when i've got my degree.

I prefer "corporate cocksuckers". I like alliteration. [8D]

That's a drag, GT. Hope it passes soon for ya. If not, well, job market's pretty good in ATL and I've been looking for a housemate. Here's the recent ad on Craigslist fairly long:

Prime Location in close-in East Cobb! Older countercultural-type guy has a large open and spacious house to share in a quiet, close-in, many-treed neighborhood. PLEASE NOTE: I do not have a boarding house, and I do not rent rooms. I have a house to share. Not looking for families. FOR WOMEN: I am not seeking maid or any other type of service. The house could use some female energy for balance, is all. Another woman scheduled to take up residence; super person.
It's a good-sized house w/ 3 empty BRs, private bath, private LR w/ bay window, maple/granite kitchen, & so on, in Indian Hills. There's a screened porch; a little pond/waterfall, gas grill, and outdoor fireplace in back. Unkempt garden area. Very quiet Street. Close to Borders, films, PO, library, Williams-Sonoma, Natural Foods, Whole Foods etc. I'm mostly vegetarian and cook muchly (ex-restaurateur). Seeking someone who likes to garden and to help keep the place running (arthritis;chronic pain), and look after things if I can ever afford to travel again. OK w/small to mid-sized pup. No smokers/heavy drinkers. Should be Progressive/Green-type. Spiritual, but not religious, I am (sorry, no Fundies or Republicans). Please be 40+, employed, happy, compassionate and kind-hearted, trying to have a low carbon footprint, and with references. I'm a laid-back (but with convictions) hermit type, sometimes night-owlish, usually very quiet and private, but I do play the drums and a bit of guitar (not late at night). I also make soaps from time to time. $600/mo, includes utilties and some damn good cooking from time to time. Pics available for serious folk. Last roomie left suddenly due to pregnant daughter's health problems, so the space is immediately available. Please be respectful and follow through on appointments, etc. Will consider a cat.

I abhor that middle ground - make too much for assistance; too little to get by. Whatever you do, pay that internet bill... lol.  I'm being selfish - I  enjoy reading your posts too much!

MollHackabout -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/2/2008 11:29:58 PM)

Maybe, as an interim solution, you could try www.modestneeds.org , as this is the sort of thing they provide assistance with. Things might seem a bit better if you weren't worrying about a backlog of bills!

Sorry to hear that.  If it makes you feel better, I hate my job.  I hate where I live, and I spend most of my time by myself.  I am underpaid for my job too.  I have at least 5 supervisors that are less educated than I am.  I don't gripe, because I do make good money and know many people that are out of work.  I could move, but I feel safe living in my hometown.  I do look for other jobs, but I never accept offers that I get.  I do all of this because I feel safe where I am at now.  I hate it, but I feel safe.

LadyEllen -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/3/2008 2:22:34 AM)

What I have found in my long years of climbing the greasy pole;

The only way to get significant increases in salary is to move to a new employer, and to lie profusely about current salary; the new employer always beats the current salary to secure you; a few thousand extra a year is nothing next to the benefit they expect to gain from you.

The more you get paid, the less you have to work - OK there's responsibility and sometimes liability which replaces it, and occasionally there are huge tasks to manage through, but there's nothing like the nose to grindstone stuff of more junior positions.

It doesnt matter what you earn, you will still spend the lot and be broke for most of the time.

Emigrate. There are countries out there that can give you a better life style where a fair day's work for a fair day's pay is more than just rhetoric.

Aneirin -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/3/2008 4:14:11 AM)

Sorry to read of your monetary problems GT, believe me I know the feeling. This is why I have come to an understanding that perhaps it is not best to put all your eggs in one basket so to speak, one major wage from one employer, by this they control you. If you can think of an option, try the streams of income approach. Examples may be buying and selling on ebay, selling on ebay etc

Something I have found recently is that I have a sizeable sums worth of old standard texts which will be going on amazon soon. These books will include my favourite book, 'The Dark  Summer' by Bob Carlos Clarke, it is worth at least nine times what I paid for it, it's going and to think I found it in a junk shop!
