Huh, well i have ALWAYS pronounced Domme as Dom in a. Course Master and i were talking about that last night and he pronounces it (of course... ) the right way. Dom and of course.. i am supposed to know which gender He is speaking about. Which of course i did as immediately peeped "dom in a?" So more Of course, the attempt at a correction where i see now that, i was wrong then, wasnt looked happily upon.

i see from all the posts.. that its not "dom in a" AND dont ask where i got Dom in a from Domme. (blame it on the eyes.. they're infected)

<sigh> BUT Domina is sooooooooo purty! i suppose i will have to sy "dom in a" quietly to myself and "dom" out loud, eh? Pooo

I hold BDSMers to the same high quality standard I hold my friends.

If a woman prefers Dom over Domme that is fine. Some women perfer to be distinguished from males for any number of personal reasons.

However, if you get all up in arms cause someone you never met (or who is meeting you for the first time) calls you by one title when you prefer the other title, well then you are just an ass.
Come on, get real! You have just met the person, allow some time for them to get to know you and to know what you prefer to be called. Don't expect the whole world to agree to use just the title you think should be learned.

Not saying that this is any of you but you get my point right? Get to know a person before insisting they call you by one title or another.

We also need to leave it open for men who want to be called Domme. Fair is fair right? I am 100% for equality but few know what that means. Women wearing pants and shirts is equality but a man wearing a skirt is a "fag"?, WTF?!?

Make sure you are willing to give equality before you demand equality.

Thanks for the info on how to pronounce Domme, as I always had a problem with that, not many people use it verbaly around here, Mistress is more common. Thanks again!

i often wonder if people who say "dom-may" for domme also say "fem-may fatal-lay" for femme fatale...?

though i think thetammyjo is right when saying that it's pretty unnecessary (the different spelling) and a product of people "wanting to know" gender (online) more than anything else.

When I first saw the word Domme in print, I assumed it would be pronounced "dom" because of the word femme, and soon after that I saw a message board post somewhere stating that it was incorrect to say dom-may.

However, when I started going to munches and meeting people in my area, I was corrected and told it WAS pronounced dom-may, and that is usually the way I hear it pronounced in this area. Personally I avoid using it, because I don't like that pronunciation and usually stick with just saying dominant, male or female.

Blessed be,
harmony
