I know my posts are sometimes "conservative" for the forums; however, I am confused.  I used to wake up in the morning and know I was a Democrat.  Obviously, I don't fit in on either side of the coin now.  I was in the military and cannot stand McCain.
My statement is this:  I don't have a problem with an African American President.  I don't have a problem with a woman President.  I am not comfortable with Republican Presidents; however, I have voted Republican a couple of times.  I try to vote for the person which leads me into the next question.  Who do I choose out of these candidates?  Should I follow my roots and vote Democrat, or do I not vote.  I don't think any of the candidates running at this point could handle it.

Why waste your vote? Vote Democrat - it sounds as though it's your inclination to do so anyway :-) .

I think we should start an internet campaign to have everyone write in Colin L. Powell.

All in favor say "I".

Opposed.........shut the fuck up.

whoever is president will have a difficult job in turning things around, and ultimately though he/she produces the framework for recovery, its the people who produce the means for recovery; for this reason I think Obama is the man because he seems able to inspire and reinvigorate the people. Yes, he's inexperienced, but then no one can be jack of all trades and thats what advisors are for. The key to his success will be in having the right advisors to guide him

Kit-  it is MORE then voting.   Contact your elected officials often.  In your own words  -tell them your concerns.  Ild say a minuman of 12 x a year. [52 x would not be too much]     http://congress.org

they DO notice the peons.   if every peon did this- we would see good things

They do too. I worked at a state legislature for a while. We answered every single mail personally and unless the stuff was crackpot most of them ended up on the reps desk.

Hunky! I don't have the right to vote, but I agree with you that it's worth contacting local officials if one has immediate concerns. I have done so :-) , and they've turned out to be pretty helpful.

Its rare to find a candidate on a national level who I can even agree with a majority of the time. I try to pare it down to who best supports the issues I care about most and then vote for that person. So far in this election I have been unable to do that.

Obama does have that leadership quality that America seems to be looking for. Much like Ronald Reagan he has the ability to inspire people with his words and make them believe that he is the right choice.

We'll see how today's Superish Tuesday vote goes. There may not be a race in either party when the day is done.

this is what i sent in --  thecontact can be any issue-im posting this as an example....

[recipient address was inserted here]

 [recipient name was inserted here],

Greetings.  I write this from a computer that had a   sales or transfer
tax.  On a chair that  had same tax... from my house which I paid a
property  transfer tax.

The  time has come to assess a 1%  tax on stock transfers.  Why is it not
taxed?  The IP server is, the electric is, the auto that got it -I paid a
transfer tax. So why not a stock transfer tax?

When I see the huge skyscrapers, and the zillions that go out in earmarks,
and   campainge  money...  I suspect that wall street hasnt  paid   what
main street has.

Also- I would like  to know  the poundage of our gold at fort knox. I want
the US currency to again be backed by gold.

Drop in for a cup of coffee and we can chat.   Did I  mention the I paid a
transfer tax on the coffee cup?

Sincerely,

Bull,

The sad thing is, Powell has said that he wouldn't take the job if it were offered to him. I guess Bush & Co using him as a fall guy (for presenting fraudulent evidence to the world at the UN) just left him disillusioned and feeling burned.

No, you're not the only one who feels that way.
I'll probably vote for whoever's running in The Constitution party just to send them a message.

He doesn't owe us, but a lot of folks can't help but wish he'd change his mind.

Two reasons not to vote...

1. Voting only encourages politicians by stroking their egos.

2. It's irrelevent who you vote for, the government always wins.

Do something useful and become a member of the permanent opposition.

seriously look at all of the canidates.. look at thier voting record, look at thier ideas on the issues. advoid the news sound bites, and the spin that media is putting on shit. Media co's ( I used to work for one of the largest) can be bought and sold.

If you have questions still.. Write to them and ask.

At that point go with your heart on who sees things as you do on what matters most to you.

Fuck what other people think.

I hope this helps.
