Well, we have no history of someone running against a minority or a woman. History is a tool, but not the bible, so to speak.

Whether we're talking about Obama's skin or Clinton's ovaries, if either is the dominating characteristic of their candidacy, they both need to hang it up.

BTW....I'm a libertarian by practice, an anarchist by preference.  McCain is merely the least noxious person of the current generation of candidates for President.  Of the three currently vying, he will do the least damage.  Obama and Clinton (or worse, both) would be presidential train wrecks.  I remember Carter's presidency.  We don't need a repeat of that fiasco.

So... Carter was *worse* than Nixon?

I mean, reality... We were 8 - 12 during the Carter Presidency.

Senator Clinton has high negatives, but primarily to voters that will never vote for her anyway. She will be very hard to "Swift Boat." There are really no attack that can be aimed, that have not already been aimed, many times.

Those high negatives and people that will never vote for her are the main reason I don't want her in the White House (and I figure I'll have massive IRS problems for the "Nixon with a vagina" line).  It guarantees another four years of bitter partisanship and national division.  Obama could have a shot at my vote based purely on the hope that he might get us past that.  If he signs on with her, forget it.

The idea that there are no more attacks left is ridiculous.  Many of those earlier ones have never been answered.  There will be 8 more years of their finances to look at and, here's a surprise, they won't release tax records.  Anybody think Bill has been keeping his dick in his pants?  How about those last minute pardons that looked outright bought?

Crooks who get away with it don't become honest.  They become cocky.  This time, the impeachment would be followed by removal from the White House.

Malaise. Stagflation. Iran. Yeah, Carter was much worse than Nixon.

However, strong showing by Hillary in a few more states would mean the best Obama could hope for is that same brokered convention. Would either of them be statesmanlike enough to bring the Democrats together effectively for the fall campaign? Their behavior thus far does not augur well for that.

The Democratic party is not divisive in the way that a Neo-Con / Fundamentalist Christian leader split in the Republicans would be, except insofar as the people in the Democratic party who would not vote for Hillary in a primary would probably come out to vote for her in the general election.

I have made the point before that the worst thing the Democrats could do if Hillary loses the nomination would be to add her to the ticket.  The opposite is not true.  Hillary winning the election and adding Obama to the ticket sets him up to be President when she is gone, adds a legitimacy to Hillary's campaign, although whether she would survive the primaries remains to be seen.

If she is on the ticket, the Republicans who hate her and salt the earth she has walked on and see her as the second coming over whoever comes second will turn out in droves to vote against her.  Additionally, she doesnt really bring that much to the ticket; the Democrats who voted for her would vote for Obama in the general election if he was nominated.  She is not a positive to the Obama ticket, and she brings a wide variety of negatives.  On the other hand, she is setting herself up for Clinton/whoever in 2016.

If she is not on the ticket, half the Republicans will vote for Obama instead of McCain.  Half the religious right (40% of the Republican party) will stay home and not bother to vote for somebody who doesnt want to put land mines in the beds of homosexuals and illegals, video cameras in the wombs of the unborn, machine guns illegal immigrants, and Obama wins by a landslide.  It will be similar to what happened when Al Gore admitted defeat before half the states still to vote had their polls closed; all those states suffered astounding losses in Democratic party backed things like school boards, city majors, etc.  The people who only turn out to vote for the President will not cast any votes at all.

If you think his show sucks....then don't listen to it.

I think dog fighting sucks. But I will react to it and do the right thing.I certainly won`t ignore it.

Would you go and watch a dog fight? Didn't think so, of course dog fighting is illegal, so what was the point of that comment? Rush's show is not illegal, whether you approve of what he says or not.

I think neo-cons putting out ads calling McCain a war coward and father of illegitimate kids is disgusting.Doesn`t mean I`ll ignore it.Hell no! I`m going to mention it and tell people.

You have that right and if your the host of your own radio show, you can even go on the air and tell people about it.

I think the neo-con whisper/email campaigns against Mr Obama is typical and disgusting .Blaming Hillary for it,just as disgusting.
Yup, blaming others is wrong. It's a shame they can't stick to telling us what is good about their own party, but that's politics, isn't it. And all sides do it daily.

Should I ignore that?Fuck no.

Hey,if this thread is so sucky, then don`t respond.Maybe you should take your own advice.

I never said this thread was "so sucky" Maybe you should pay more attention to what's being said.

This is nothing new and not something the republicans came up with. Both parties have been doing it for years. I remember the first time I ever heard the idea was from a democrat who wanted me to vote republican in the primary.

This year I heard the democrats wanted us to vote McCain and all the logic that went with it.

That`s a buncha bull shit.

Name one Democrat or liberal spokesperson that has directed dems to meddle with a republican primary.
The democrat handing out magnetic calendars at the primary polling site, who suggested, since Michigan didn't really have a democratic ballot, that maybe we should switch over and mess up the republican side. He suggested voting Romney. Sorry I didn't get his name, but I didn't realize it was that important to you. There where also suggestions made on the local radio station, by the local jocks, that the democrats should use this primary to stop McCain from getting Michigan.

The point of the thread, was to point out that there is a very powerful right-wing media personality with millions of listeners, directing his minions to fuck with our primary.
And other posters have pointed out, that this isn't anything new. Maybe what really upsets you, is the democrats don't seem to have a powerful left-wing media personality with millions of listeners. Of course that's not Rush's fault either, but I can understand the hard feelings it would cause.

I defy anyone to name a similar example of this,on the liberal side
Sorry, can't think of any. Maybe you should go into radio?

This "both parties do it" crap is just the pathetic whimper-explanations of folks caught red-handed cheating.Pretty lame too.
It may be lame, but it's the truth

Like UMs getting caught taking cookies from the jar, they cry,"but the others do it too".<whah-whah>Just as lame.

Most people break the speed limit, but there are some who drive at over a 100 MPH every fuck`n day and endanger every driver on the road.

You can technically say, that they`re all speeders, but hey,it`s silly to say they`re all the same
It's silly to even bring kids stealing cookies and speeding up, has nothing to do with the thread.

There`s the distinction.

Again. Why do republicans have to cheat and steel in order to win elections?
The same reason democrats do....
The Patriots should have never made it to the Super Bowl.
Cheaters suck.

Would Dr. Phil have cheered you up?  I was fairly happy under Carter, and was motivated to accomplish all sorts of things.

Iraq.

You are probably one of those people who thinks that the 1.5 years that Carter worked to deal with the Iran thing were a waste of time and Reagan got it right within 2 weeks.

Sinergy

p.s.  I dont think Nixon was all that bad, to be honest.  I think the problems Nixon had to deal with were different than those that Carter had to deal with.  My usual objection to Carter was that he was too nice and thrust in a situation where being nice was a negative.  My usual objection to Flawed Intel is that he is not nice at all and involves himself in situations where being nice would be a positive.

I see nothing wrong with this.

Republican feel that Senator McCain will have a better chance against Senator Clinton, so they are using their vote to do what best enables the candidate they support. In their view, voting this way, is a vote for their candidate.

Bwahahaha!

Now thats the way to run a champaign!   SO what we need is the dems getting in the worst rep and the reps getting in the worst dems that assures that we have SHIT to vote for!

Wonderful plan!

2 weeks???  The hostages were in the air about three after he finished his inaugural address.  And yes, Carter's year and a half (444 days to be accurate) of negotiations were not only a waste of time, they are a permanent stain on his legacy.

There's not a lot of complexity to a hostage situation -- you get the hostages and capture or kill the abductors (in that order of priority).

Carter fucked up by letting the hostages become a political football.  You play games with peoples lives and everybody looses.

I guess you are not a supporter of the party that sent our military into Mesopotamia, have killed hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, and unleashed a civil war of epic proportions.

Gotcha,

Boy, you got that right.

Sending troops into Iraq was a fuckup of the first rank.

However, civil war of "epic" proportions?  Hardly.  Iraq would be a lot simpler if there WERE a civil war of epic proportions.

No, that is called stupidity in the real world.

He got 8 US military personnel killed in a failed rescure attempt, which he had no business trying to run from Washington, after letting Iran invade our sovereign land.

You sure have some strange ideas on what success is.
