Not discriminated against in the pure sense of the word...but have felt greatly put-off by sexist and racist comments and attitudes.

OK, i know this thread is for the women, but I feel descriminated against becauise I am a man.  I work at a restaurant and winery, almost all of the servers are female, I work at the wine tasting bar and most of the workers there are female as well.  I have had 3 different bosses so far, all women.  Now the first two had worked there longer than I and knew the job better, that's fine, I respected them for it, the most recent one I trained, she doens't know the job, she just knows how to flirt with the owners and get the rest of us in trouble.  She cut my hours, I asked if I could cross train as a server, to pick up some hours, no, no reason given, nothing, jsut no.  I don't know that it is gender discrimination, but it feels like it, and I don't like it.

I can say in all honesty that yes, I have. I was fired from a job when I was pregnant with my last child because as the GM said "he didn't want no fat, preggers cow at HIS front desk, no matter how good she looked". This was when I was still fairly early on in the pregnancy and went out and spent a fortune on quality maternity clothes for the office. The office manager just told me quietly that it would "be best in my current condition that I go home and get some rest for a while".

All this after being there 6 weeks and having departments fight for my help as I was the best help they'd gotten in years. [8|]  Since then, I have no sympathy for that company whatsoever...

i have when i worked at a warehouse and out of 8 people, i was the only female. i did better than they did, i was able to pull more out of the backroom, and i was able to do the tasks quicker and better. But they still did not like me working with them. So i quit.

absolutely. I am always the top producer wherever I work and still get sexist treatment. no matter what we think, it is still a man's world when it comes to business. we can shout about harassment more, and companies are more aware of possible litigation, but it is very difficult to prove.
