WickedKev -> Nicks (9/23/2005 5:04:38 PM)

This thread has probably been posted many times before but what the hell. Who here uses thier nick for more than just being online? And how did you come by it? Myself, yes I do use it, probably more than my real vanilla name. I have used it in buisness and I write under it. When I first came online I just used Kev, thought I was being smart basing it on the Monty Python and the Holy Grail film, 'There are some who call me Tim'. People kept saying I gotta have more to it, like put a Sir or a Lord before it I just told them I will as soon as Her Majesty rewards for my services to pervery. My sub at the time was form New Orleans and she loved and hated the little mind f**ks I did to her and she came up with WickedKev. It seemd to fit and has stuck with me for 15 years now. God I am feeling old.

IronBear -> RE: Nicks (9/23/2005 5:48:28 PM)

I use mine all the time and it is my prefered name in the lifestyle. I guess I do get a tad annoyed when friends who know my preference still introduce me by my birth name (Malcolm). Iron Bear or just Bear what my family call me. On formal occasions I'm usually addressed as Col. or on other occasions it depends on the type of occasion if other titles get used. Iron Bear was given to me by on Lakota blood brother and his father... This is not the place to recount that story or why in was originally called "The Grizzly with Steel Claws"

EmeraldSlave2 -> RE: Nicks (9/23/2005 5:49:58 PM)

When people get to know me from online first, they often call me Em or Emerald and it's no big deal. Otherwise, everyone just uses my name, I don't go by a scene name.

fastlane -> RE: Nicks (9/23/2005 5:55:26 PM)

My nick in real life is KC
Online nick Fastlane
but it would sound real corny in the real world..."Yo, Fastlane, why you driving so slow?"
So, I just go by Kevin

Hmmm, WickedKevin....I may be on to something?

You'd have to be WickedKev2 then that would make me the number one Kevin.

kc692 -> RE: Nicks (9/23/2005 6:25:43 PM)

Ok, we have a line forming here, smiles, almost everybody that knows me from online even when meeting in real life calls me KC.....

imtempting -> RE: Nicks (9/23/2005 7:42:25 PM)

I only use it here, I get called a different nick in real life.

ShiftedJewel -> RE: Nicks (9/23/2005 8:00:05 PM)

I've gone by this online nic for a long time..... Shifted is because I've moved well over 60 times, from city to city, state to state... thus... shifting locations... And Jewel, well, in the right setting I shine. A lot of people that know me from online do call me Jewel rather then my real name.

Jewel

FLButtSlut -> RE: Nicks (9/23/2005 8:08:08 PM)

Guess I will jump in for the minority here. Only an online nick. Experimented with some others until I found the one that seemed to sound the best, and kind of like the "rhyming" this one has.

Real life, very few people are aware of this "side" of me, so they definately have no idea.

sultryvoice -> RE: Nicks (9/23/2005 8:23:35 PM)

I don't have a scene name..I use my first name. I so wished to have a scene name but I just couldn't come up with one..sultryvoice was one given to me by a friend. It's just for email and for cm..One day I will come up with something..

Respectfully,
sultry

ScooterTrash -> RE: Nicks (9/23/2005 8:27:52 PM)

Mine is a blend of on-line and real life. I guess originally it was an obvious nic, as I tend to jokingly call other bikers scooter trash. But now it's not that odd to have someone in real life say "hey Scooter" or "what's happenin trash". I guess it doesn't really exemplify the real me, but what the hell..it works.

CalliopePurple -> RE: Nicks (9/23/2005 8:29:38 PM)

I've been using this nick online for about five years now and so I will occasionally answer to CP, but no other forms.

There are a few layers of meaning behind the screen name itself, but I'll explain the most obvious ones.

Calliope - Muse of epic poetry when pronounced ca-LIE-oh-pee, the pipe organ at a circus when pronounced CAL-e-ope. I've been known to write poetry and I used to live in the hometown of the Ringling Bros. Circus. As a note, I prefer the first pronounciation.

Purple - Favorite color, it was my belt in karate at the time I made it, and the unofficial color for bisexual pride. Might consider myself more lesbian than bi now, but the color still has that meaning to me.

*Edit for typos*

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Nicks (9/23/2005 8:58:23 PM)

Mine is only used online. Other than that I'm either Michelle, baby, bitch, or "hey, you...with the hair".

UtopianRanger -> RE: Nicks (9/23/2005 11:04:40 PM)

It's just an online nick for me. It comes from a time when I used to guide folks down class five river canyons. My job was to man the ''safety boat'' and sit at the bottom of each rapid, in a small eddy with a couple of throw bags ready to round-up any potential ''swimmers'' that were inadvertently tossed into the drink and left to flush through the rapid. When I pulled them into the boat, it was pure utopia, because it meant they wouldn't have swim the next class five rapid that was right below the one they just swam.

does that help?

wolfie

KatyLied -> RE: Nicks (9/24/2005 8:04:02 AM)

KatyLied is my bad bdsm nick only. And had I given it more thought, I'd not have chosen something so "cute" and lyrical. Because it has given me the opportunity for more "do you need a spanking for lying?" and "you need put over my knee now" pm's than I'd ever wanted! And I'm always having to explain where it came from. So, I shoulda chosen something different. But Katy and Katie have grown on me, and I enjoy being called those names.

pinkpleasures -> RE: Nicks (9/24/2005 8:17:23 AM)

My friends from BDSM s'times call me "pinky", but no one from my vanilla life does. My nick has morphed alot and i'm still not sure it's quite right. It was given me by a Master friend.

pinkpleasures

I've used this screen name/nick for email and the occasional (rare) visit to a chatroom for going on eight years. However, in discussion groups and in real life, I've always signed my given name. Except on here, for some odd reason. I'll have to change that.

More people recognize me by my sig line than they do by my name, simply because Master's name tends to stand out, but most of my friends call me Dee, because that's what Master calls me. For Him, however... He says there are too many Mikes in our local group, so everyone calls Him "Kap," or "Kaptin." It's even on His license plate. [:)]

This is interesting, because on one of my discussion lists, we're having this exact same conversation, and someone commented that I don't *really* use my given name because I don't also sign my last name. To that person, I replied it serves no purpose to offer strangers my last name online. However, those who know me well enough in person to be invited to our play parties know my last name, my phone number and where I live. And I know theirs.

KatyLied -> RE: Nicks (9/24/2005 9:15:40 AM)

WickedKev -

I didn't answer your question about where it came from. I am channeling "Katy" from a Steely Dan song (Dr. Wu).

Katy tried, Katy lies, she's lovely, she's sly, has she finally got to you?

kyraofMists -> RE: Nicks (9/24/2005 9:52:30 AM)

I do use my nic for more than on-line. In fact now I only use my real name for family and business. Even in private with my Lord and sis, I am called kyra. The name Kyra is what I was going to call my first daughter if I ever decided to have children; it is a name I have held onto for years. Since I have never chosen to have children, when I joined my Lord's House, I started using kyra. The "of Mists" part is because I belong to my Lord, Knight of Mists.
