As in all things electrical; the goto guy is Uncle Abdul.  Google him or you should be able to google violet wand directly.

My my my..wonderful electricity. My male sub and I both love playing with electricity. We use the violet wand and tens units. I have never had any problem using the violet wand on his pierced nipples or on the head of his cock<which is also pierced>Of course there isnt prolonged contact on those places so no burning is caused. The only part of the body I stay away from with the violet wand is the head, it will burn hair and can also damage eyes. Remember the current can and does travel with the right conditions. The tens unit we never use on the nipples and up. But there are enough other places to place the pads. Please make sure you are taught by someone that has done it for a while before trying it on your own, for safetys sake.

I use the violet wand often on the head and face, either conducting through my fingers or using a glass attachment.  I rarely use the glass attachment on the face unless I'm igniting a tiny fire on the tip of the nose.  One of the uses the violet wand is still put to in salons is to use the rake attachment applied to the scalp to stimulate hair growth.  In "Anger Management" you can see Jack Nicholson's character using one on his scalp.  A flat round glass attachment is also used in some salons as a skin cleanser because as the attachment is moved over the face, a layer of ozone is created, which is great for killing bacteria and treating acne.  I was also told at one salon that it helps open up pores that are really tight.

When I use the violet wand on body piercings, no damage is done.  The piercings tingle a bit but don't constitute any more risk to the body than me conducting current through a metal object, which I do frequently and have done so on hundreds of people.  I'm don't understand how a violet wand would impact subcutaneous metal like pins or other implants since the current stays primarily on the surface of the skin.  From what I understand, there's no risk there.  Or are you talking about some other type of e-stim, like a TENs unit or cattle prod?

The big concern with mixing electricity and metal is heat. If it's under the skin, the recipient won't feel it the same way as they would if it were on the surface of the skin. If the Top and bottom are not experienced, it can cause burns that are unintentional and take a long time to heal.

If the metal is deep inside the body (pins in bones, etc) then it shouldn't be impacted by any conventional sort of electrical play.

FWIW, you can cause burns mixing a violet wand and metal objects, according to my leg [:o] (oops...)

I take it you incurred an injury from a violet wand being used over the area where you have a pin.  Could you describe how that happened in terms of what setting the wand was on, what implements were used, and the duration of the contact?

i guess i wasn't very clear... Based on what i know of electricity (not exhaustive, but practical), metal that is deep within the body should not make a difference during electrical play. i was burned using a metal conductor on the skin, rather than underneath it.

In my case, we were using a violet wand to arc to a piece of Christmas garland that was underneath a vacuum cup... Not sure what the duration was (i'm not one to clock-watch), but it was fairly extended as these things go, probably a minute or so. Best guess is that the garland was held together with a very fine wire, and the end of the wire that was sitting on my leg got hot enough to burn it. Wand was cranked up all the way (it's a vintage piece, branded as Sears Roebuck, probably manufactured by Master), using the hollow steel tube conductor. Live and learn. Cool light show, tho.

hmm...well i get electrolysis done every few months and...it FEELS FUCKING AMAZING...  if it wasnt so expensive i'd do it just for the thrill.  i get it done across the street in my salon its $60 for an hour.  im allowed to bring my own music.  i play my music...and in 5 mins im like in sub space.

Trying to picture that.  Christmas garland... like tinsel?  And something UNDER a vacuum cup sparked/arced?  Freaky, man!
I conduct pretty often through metal, but always held in my hand.  Things like knives and neurowheels and other solid metal stuff.  I've never had it get hot in my hand.  Maybe if it was much thinner it'd be different.

Yup... the vacuum cups are a very thin polystyrene, and the wand will arc right through it to the metal and light it up like a plasma globe. What was even cooler was rinsing a bit of rubbing alcohol in a thin glass votive holder, as for fire cupping, and holding it down tight over the tinsel... then using the arc from the wand to ignite the alcohol inside the cup from the outside!

There's not enough current in a typical wand to heat up a big piece of metal when it's just a conductor. The metal wire running through the tinsel is about as thick as a human hair, and it was probably creating its own arc down to my skin (kinda looked like there was ash at the contact point)

Verrrry interestink!  I have the polystyrene cups and class cups (and bamboo). I may have to do some experimenting and bear in mind the results from your earlier research.  [;)]

CatsEyesGrrl -> RE: Its Electric! (3/10/2008 6:30:16 PM)

I love violet wands and E-Stims and have had them over my piercings to no ill effect and on the back of my neck (no, my tresses weren't damaged!)  I especially love when a metal rod attached to it is help by a Top and the electricity passes through them (they can't feel it, I tried too) then their hand or lips touch me... Or attach it to a pin wheel, or... Well you get the idea!

Now that's what I call good fun! ~purrs~

Hello MzStar, its been about ten years sence last I had the pleasure of reading your comments, I hope both your loved ones are well. I recently had the pleasure of having dinner with MsStromy and MsSnowhite, they are both living in Florida now.
Hope to see many more of your comments, respectfully, "QuietMan"

Very true.  As I said, since he does still have metal in his leg, I have to be very aware of it.  Hoping to be cautious, I avoid his scars, too.  Now that he's been branded, that will be another no shock zone.

I did forget to mention personal piercings, which should be treated the same way as metal that is actually inside the body.  Thank you for picking up the slack.

Actually, current from violet rays and wands can and do impact subcutaneously.  This is the reason that it is generally advised not to use such devices on those with a history of heart problems, pacemakers or other implanted, electronic devices.  There is some basic safety information from the violetwand guild here:  http://home.earthlink.net/~violetwands/safe.html

MzShngStar -> RE: Its Electric! (3/11/2008 5:37:54 PM)

We have also used lame, garland, tinsel <I have a tinsel flogger> besides all of the hard metal. Meat cutters gloves are alot of  fun as well as the talons. So many options out there to use with the violet wand.

Go to www.huse.com, click enter, and on the home page, click electricity. Rupert sells them and has a good deal of historical and other info about them as well, including a PDF of one vintage/antique violet wand "manual" from the late 1800s. His prices also are reasonable compared to some sources, including the chancy one of buying a used one "blind" on eBay.

as with any electric play its all in the amps a implanted pacemaker runs on a watch battery, directly connected to the heart. a tens unit is across the skin a insulator when dry. so there are many factors to include in using electro play, scars are actually thicker skin and can have a higher resistance to the passage of electricity. i have a neuroma a aberrant growth of nerve tissue that keeps growing back on my chest. if you were to use a electro pad or wand there i would likely come off the table even on a low setting. now my M'Lady knows this and avoids this spot during play  so like anything else in a relation ship talk about it and discuss it first.

For anyone without a history of heart problems or implanted medical devices, which I assume would be disclosed prior to playing, not enough current gets past the skin to cause damage.  That's why I said the current stays primarily on the surface of the body.

chezzy52 -> RE: Its Electric! (3/12/2008 1:53:22 AM)

I play guitar and although we are talking about totally different kinds of amperage here...i respect electricity too much to even think about electro-shock play...it's a hard limit for me.
