Spring Break!  Wahoo!

For anyone who had it lately, is just starting, or has it to look forward to in the near future, I hope you enjoy it!  This sleep will be wonderful, won't it?

What're people looking forward to?  A trip, the chance to catch up on sleep, a break from the work, seeing family agian, or something else?

PrizedPosession -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 1:25:42 AM)

Sleep for 3 days then back to work, i have an interview and i get to clean. and i get to keep studying! lol

OH! dorm to myself

CuriousLord -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 1:31:36 AM)

Same here on a lot of it.  :P

I have an interview with a professor over taking up a job, so I have to stick around.  It's nice to have the dorm to yourself, particularly if your bedroom isn't a single.  My roommate's a good enough fellow, but he has this strange obsessionn with tapping and clicking his fingers loudly as he listens to music on his headphones.

Kinda behind in Math, too, so I need to read up on that.

PrizedPosession -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 1:35:24 AM)

Ah, mine's History...it's just killing me because it is 2 chapters a night and i don't have the time for it.
i'm not a Pink girl or anything like that but i might work at Victoria's Secret if i am lucky.
And my roomie is sooo sweet but she seems to want to know where i am at all times and is very loud lol but a sweet girl all together, i think i corrupted her though

CuriousLord -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 1:45:01 AM)

What's life without a little corruption?

Kind of the opposite with my roommate and I.  We don't even know eachothers' names.  (At least, I assume he does't know mine.)  Never talk.  I know he's supposed to be a Business major, and I was thinking of picking it up as a double.  When I brought it up, he had no interest in discussing it.

Then again, my roommate from last year graduated, so this new guy's a freshman.  I guess he's suffering from that huge lack of motivation that comes with the territory.

Personally, it's the sleep I'm looking forward to most.  Eight hours a night with relatively few concerns about deadlines will be wonderful.

PrizedPosession -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 1:49:27 AM)

lol im a freshman and i'm slowly dying from being here. i didn't know the girls beside me names until a week ago. Roomies are fun but i just wish i had a wall so i could do my thing and her do hers. im hoping next semester with Master actually being there will be easier.
What are you studying?

CuriousLord -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 2:08:45 AM)

Chemical Engineering's my primary major.  Going for the Ph.D. right now.  I found it's shockingly easy to earn an MBA (Master's in Business, general), so trying for one of those as well.  Whether or not I finish it off depends largely on time constraints.

How about you?

PrizedPosession -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 2:10:41 AM)

Yea i heard the MBA isn't difficult but buisness isn't always the hardiest major (depending on what they intend on doing)

i am a journalism major, i may do PR for Master's record label. i want to minor in art though but i hate taking classes because they make you do pointless things sometimes.

SeeksOnlyOne -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 2:14:44 AM)

lol-as a cafeteria manager, im looking forward to it for different reasons than you i guess, but 4 more weeks to work and i get a glorious week off.  to sleep late and refresh before the final stretch of the school year.

it amazes me how much the faculty looks forward to spring break.  i think we need it more than the students.  but i suspect, i will be doing some partying and drinking during that week off too.

enjoy the down time.

CuriousLord -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 2:19:57 AM)

It's nice you can have something to do together.  I know this may be a bit of a silly question, but what's a "record label"?  (Rights to particular songs?)

It's cool to be able to have something to do together.  I had my slave go into a related field.  I'm hoping we'll get to work together ultimately; still too young, though, so we're at the mercy of who'll give us work.  :P

PrizedPosession -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 2:23:31 AM)

They make sure artists get studio time, produce CDs, pretty much get a band's name out there. They do a bit for them as Master says "they are a bank" but that's only the bigger ones like Victory, Reprise, Atlantic, Columbia and all that. He didn't make me i just decided it would be nice.
What could be considered a possible field for chemical engineering lol

CuriousLord -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 2:25:24 AM)

I'm glad your view is so much more positive!  Some of the facualty around here have the attitude, "I still have to some work, so it's not a break!"

The guys at the dining hall here were singing and dancing.  It wasn't exactly appropriate, but one of them was flipping the entire hall's lights on and off while singing at the very end of the night (even though they were open for the first half of today).

CuriousLord -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 2:40:10 AM)

Chemical Engineering's really diverse.  I like this view of it:  We make some chemicals into others, as well as the machines that conduct those processes.  (Well, we design the machines.. the actual construction of the machines is for the factories.)  ChemE's do everything from making processes to make medicines, new materials, to oil refinery stuff, to operating/designing processing plant units, etc.

Honestly, I chose it for the money.  Several sources told me it was the highest paying major back when I was trying to decide, so I went with it.  While I'm fond of working, I see work as more of a responsibility to be dealt with.  One that can be pleasant, but still not my primary purpose in life.  So I wanted something to give me as much bang for my time as possible.  Hence, ChemE.

It's truly growing on me, though.  I really just plain like the subject and the people involved in it, all the way from my advisor who's been an excellent source of tips and knowledge to that silly girl who sits infront of me, that spent her time tryingto make me feel better when I had the flu.  The material can be fun, and I can take it to ends that interest me.

Once I'm all done with this, I want to make my millions and then start my own projects.  I'm determined to make new life forms, and I'm quite sure I'll be able to do it.  (New, intelligent ones.  Not just lemmings.)  Transhumanism and the generalized definition of "individual" have touched me pretty deeply.

Sorry, ranting.  While it's technically the start of break, I still haven't slept yet.. so I'm in this awful state of confussion and disorientation of thoughts.  Time for some sleep for me!

I hope it all goes well for you this break.  ;)  Since I'm sure I'll read it tommorow.. what's journalism like?  By this, I mean.. how do you feel about it?  What're some thoughts on your likes/dislikes?

SeeksOnlyOne -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 2:40:10 AM)

lol-when the students start getting wild the last week, i tell them "if i cant dance on the tables, neither can you"

but we do a countdown and its fun. if you dont like interacting, in a fun way, with students, you ought not work around them-whether its kdg or college.  imho anyhow

PrizedPosession -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 2:46:36 AM)

haha i am not that excited but i also don't party.

Journalism is fun though exhasting...if you have OCD or are anal retentive it is the job for you because every inane fact has to be spelled right, you have to determine what other people should know, or would really want to know...it's fun and exciting and you are always on your toes and it's social which i like since i have opened up quite a bit for the past 2 years. and as far as i am aware chem. engineers are the highest paid right after college.
i understand the rant i have been pissed at my manager because she hates my shoelaces and i just want to say 'i get 3 hours of sleep, i go to class, i write articles, i do a radio show, i draw for a living and you can shove the shoelaces up your ass if you are that concerned on making them a darker color." but i haven't yet[:)] lol

girlygurl -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 2:46:59 AM)

I have a week off for spring break and plan to go to the coast for a few days. I'll join the hundreds of others that have the same idea. oh joy!

I hope you all have a good break as well. [:)]

girly

Aileen1968 -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 5:01:10 AM)

[sm=noway.gif]  I never got to go on Spring Break when I was in college.
I never had the money.  Boooohooo.  I would have been such a drunken whore down in Florida.

MsSonnetMarwood -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 5:05:19 AM)

Spring break is the week after next for me - need to get through mid-terms first.     Very much looking forward to spending a couple days cuddling with my love, whom I haven't seen since before the semester started :-)

subbygirly -> RE: Spring Break! (3/8/2008 5:10:54 AM)

nothing at all like that....3 weeks no uni, yes, because 2 weeks easter break and 1 week reading week, but nevertheless I still have to go to work and to continue to catch up with my studies due to exams in april and may.

so I am looking forward from middle of may until end of september, when evertything got done for this year [:D] and not for this break now [&o]
