The answer to this question will vary from person to person. There will be some common themes between certain groups of people and none between others.

For us there is a significant difference between a submissive and a slave and it has to do with how much authority is transferred within the relationship with him. A slave will transfer all authority to him and he will exercise that authority in whatever manner he chooses. A submissive would only transfer authority over certain areas of their life and it is negotiated between them. The authority that he has, he will exercise however he chooses.

what's the difference between a submissive and slave?

sheeeeeeeeesh - for crying out loud, they are merely titles used to define yourself and your other half within your relationship!

words, people, they are only words and each definition will mean something totally different to everyone and in every relationship.

I dont think it needs being shouted at, maybe a better question would have been what does being a sub/slave/Master/Dom/Daddy etc etc mean to you

This is the topic that never ends. Yes it goes on and on my friends. Some people started writing it, not knowing what it was. And others continue writing it forever just because....

Personally, I think its a term that varies person to person.

in my twisted way of thinking I always though a slave you owned but did not care about-- like a mangy dog in the yard or that cow in the field you milk dry then sell off when you find yourself lactose intolerant... A sub you have a relationship with and put their needs into consideration...

I agree with kyraofMists. I have always just simplified it by saying that the difference is that you can always sell a slave.

Ok thanks for the replies people, but I think some of you dont relise what I was saying last night.

Yes I relise the topic has been done to death. So what? I am not forcing anyone to read it.
What I was saying was it was a question I thought of just before I went to bed, and since I had to be up early, I didn't want to spend ages reading all the threads on the subject. So it was just easier for myself to start a thread and read it when I woke up, when I have more time, which is what I have done. I am a busy student at the moment, so its just more practical for me to do it this way, since I dont often get larger chunks of free time.

You are denying yourself valuable information by not searching -- and copping an attitude about your right to be ignorant. oh please ... a busy student? ... when I was a student (very hardworking and dilligent and coasted a First I might add) I had my studies, a job, a life AND enough time to whore myself around the internet picking up poor innocent Dominants and breaking their hearts when i ditched them after one night of meaningless and sweaty sex.. and learning what the terms mean (say it with me now D I C T I O N A R Y) along the way

we are all busy people too.. and Red is correct (as usual) .. the best people to answer you have put a lot of effort into answering elsewhere .. if you cant be bothered to go looking ..people will not be bothered with you

feels sorry for the under 5'6 submissive who will have to only need Domming first thing in the morning to fit in with the busy timetable ... get real .. there are 24 hours in the days for everybody
