A question about alcohol and those who imbibe it. At that point where one has had a drink, but is not yet drunk, where are you as yourself. Do you change? How do you change,(at this point I will ask no-one say they go green and start ripping up the bar). Do you think you in the alcohol's inhibition losing effects, you become yourself , the true self, stripped of day to day protocol, the animal in you?

Are you a drinker and do you drink much?

It is fair for me to say here, I drink, but dislike drunken effects, I dislike myself drunk and am happy to drink to a point where I am happy but in control, coherant but relaxed, a place where I can be myself. That place is a very animalistic zone.As to where I drink, the pub, no more than two pints of cooking bitter is my limit. The loopy juice they can reserve for the nutters and young uns.I like to be relaxed but aware.

I drink daily, a glass of wine or a few beers.  I get drunk maybe two or three times a year.  I enjoy the relaxation I get from a nice glass of red.  I don't enjoy a hangover so I just don't go there.

I rarely drink, and when I do, I am very strict with myself, (like only 2 winecoolers that day/evening.and that would be it for 6 mo.) I have had people tell me that I am being to strict with myself, but I figure, ok, I don't drink much, so the alcohol is going to affect me pretty fast. And if I have driven that evening, (and have to drive back.) I have something with alot of caffeine, when I am done with the winecooler.  Being that I have quite a few alcoholics in my family,(including my father.) that is really why I am so strict with myself.) And the fact with a few exeptions, I don't like the taste of most alcohol. **smiles**
Cheers

i drink a few times a week, mostly red wine but i do like a good, dark beer when i can get one.  i have fun if i'm out with friends but rarely get drunk as i can't stand having a hangover.

edited to add:  about the inhibitions comment you brought up OP, yes if i'm not careful i get very uninhibited and sometimes don't think things through completely when i'm in that state of mind so i have to be careful there.

(take any fun pics last night greedy?)

I don't drink much anymore, but there is often a desire to. Hell, I never drank much..... preferred weed.

Whiskey makes me mean... and I have trouble knowing when to stop. It seems I go from "feeling great" to "dumbass" too quickly, there isn't much of a buffer zone between the two.

Errrr....I'm not tipsy after one drink and am nowhere near drunk.  So, no I do not change after one drink.  I had to look up "cooking bitter" and it appears to be a fizzy beer-like drink with approx 4% alcohol -- at first, I thought it would be cheap hobo liquor based on your question about changing after one drink!

Do you feel that you are a somewhat shy person?  I have to admit that I get leery of people who indicate they are "more" themselves after drinking.  It makes me think they aren't comfortable & happy with their everyday selves.  I don't drink to be more in love with the skin I'm in.

He sounds like it..... while never raping anyone here, whiskey does open up the black, twisted knot on my insides....bleh.

And I barf easily when drinking...... always a downer!

better be careful where you leave your camera girl, you never know who might pick it up and snap a few of themselves hehe.

I don't barf, so it stays in my system. Sooo... after a dozen years of heavy research on the matter, I've come to the conclusion that really, it doesn't do much for me lol. A nice glass of Vosne RomanĂ©e or a clean crisp Chablis will do if I'm having a good meal at a restaurant.

I'm a wine snob  .

Did you download any ass shots before you returned the camera, perchance?
curiously.

I drink a hard cider or two pretty much on a daily basis, and mixed drinks a few times a month.  I've actually gotten drunk twice in the last three years.  No personality changes, I just get louder when I'm drunk.

It made me smile that someone has described bitter as a "beer-like drink".

quote:

Drive boy dog boy dirty numb angel boy
In the doorway boy she was a lipstick boy
She was a beautiful boy and tears boy
And all in your innerspace boy you had
Hands girl boy and steel boy you had
Chemicals boy Ive grown so close to you
Boy and you just groan boy she said
Comeover comeover she smiled at you boy.

Let your feelings slip boy but never your mask boy
Random blonde bio high density rhythm blonde boy
Blonde country blonde high density
You are my drug boy youre real boy speak to me
And boy dog dirty numb cracking boy
You get wet boy big big time boy
Acid bear boy babes and babes and babes and
Babes and babes and remembering nothing boy.
You like my tin horn boy and get wet like an angel.
Derail.

You got a velvet mouth youre so succulent and beautiful
Shimmering and dirty wonderful and hot times
On your telephone line and God and everything
On your telephone and in walk an angel.
And look at me your mom squatting pissed in
A tube hole at tottenham court
Road I just come out of the ship
Talking to the most blonde I ever met.
Shouting
Lager lager lager lager shouting
Lager lager lager lager shouting

Mega mega white thing mega mega white thing
Mega mega white thing mega mega shouting
Lager lager lager lager mega mega white thing
Mega mega white thing
So many things to see and do in the tube hole

Yes, I am normally quite shy, except when I am in the company of those I know and trust. Drink I do, but about once a week, my weekly visit to the pub to harangue the landlord, but hey, he knows me and it is always constructive.

Yes, I have trouble with relaxing, but I dislike having to drink to gain that relaxation. I am normally very aware of my surroundings, sometimes that is a nuisance, good friends do it, they allow me to relax and they would be the intoxicant I would prefer.

I have asked myself why I need to drink, it is not much a social thing, but a relaxation thing, a place where I can turn off the radar and relax.

The last time I  relaxed without stimulant was in the company of a very good friend whom I trust implicitly. Female does the job, but a special kind of female and nowhere in that encounter is their bodily contact.

Drinking doesnt do anything for me.  I have no problem with others drinking- it simply isnt my thing.  I have had a few drinks at times.  It is over-rated.

I do enjoy other pleasures.  But I wont mention that here.  glunk.
