Yes, empathy is the ability to "feel" what another is feeling emotionally. In the extreme situations you may even physically manifest their sympotoms. That is actually magnetic healing but thats another topic. It can be a direct result from empathy. That said, the dynamic of feeling or knowing anothers Dominant or submissive nature is more energetic. Meaning, we are energetic beings, people sense each others energy on many levels we are not consciously aware of. When you want light you do not think about electricity or see it, you flip on the light switch and it is there. Our bodies are hard wired to recognize in others that wich is compatible with ourselves. Its like a frequency we emit and or a beacon we gravitate towards or away from energetically.

Actually, empathy has nothing to do with communication, with binding people to your will, or with making them look down involuntarily (though of course you have no way of knowing whether a gesture like that is voluntary or involuntary). Empathy means feeling what other people feel. Empaths can detect the emotions of other people by feeling the same emotions themselves; in fact, some empaths claim to feel PHYSICAL sensations that other people are experiencing--such as pain. Also, you don't just walk around feeling everyone's feelings. The extent to which an empath can tune into other people's feelings depends on how close he or she is to the other person. Some empaths can detect very obvious cues in absolute strangers, but no one can know EVERYTHING about another person, at least not without forging an intimate relationship. Please don't get caught up in this psychosis. It can be gratifying to think that you have magic powers, but it's really just a delussion that people try to justify to keep themselves happy.

Eye contact has a lot more to do with behavioral patterns and insecurities, than it does with some magical recognition of D and s. You'd be surprised to find that geography matters too I find it's easier to get people to make eye contact in rural or country areas than it is in big city atmospheres. Eye contact is fun to play with when meeting people or just facing strangers in public, but unless you actually know the person their response could be for many reasons. Maybe they are shy, insecure, afraid, or merely don't want to look at you. Maybe they are racist, cruel, ignorant, judgemental, or don't like the shirt you are wearing. To me, empathy isn't about magically knowing things. Being empathic, is having empathy for people by reading a myriad of small things about them. How they speak, their body language, behavioral changes, and knowing about them personally all contribute. I certainly don't believe in empathy as some mystical force, I believe it is merely a sensitvity towards others, and the ability to 'put yourself in their shoes' so to speak.

What I don't get is how empaths are always saying UNempathetic people are mean and selfish- shouldn't they be more understanding than others? Maybe they are just jealous of our boundaries ;)

Taking a literal reading - every action has a motivation, a driving force behind it, and with a bit of effort we can generally understand why someone took that action, even if we don't agree with it, or even find it abhorrent. The fact is that the human condition is inherently flawed and even the best of people may commit the worst of acts. Flip side - many empathetic individuals become mean and selfish as a shell to protect themselves from the constant bombardment of other peoples feelings and emotions. One learns to insulate. Six.

Sometimes it is a rough ride not knowing and feeling i suppose that the future is a cliff edge beyond which i choose not to look but a future which is 'unknown' fits in with the general consensus of what the future is. ~ visionary episodes, which i have also learned to control and incorporate in tassermancy (tea leaf reading) which i will do for others and have done and will do in public settings ~tarot cards which i no longer do as it relies far too much on prescribed meanings ~scrying with the use of a pendulum crystal: i like to buy hese as gifts for skeptical friends aa i believe everyone has some of these so-called supernatural abilities ~diving rods (made out of metal coat hangers lol) ~ what is called deep empathic understanding as a process in therapeutic work: 'seeing' their inner visions ~ intuitive non-script based teaching and lecturing Did i recognise my Master on sight? Yes. As He is the first i would call Master even though i have been in a fair few sub/Dom relationships. i can 'see' into His past. i understand His desires to 'control' or master me. i don't talk about this much except that on those occassions when others are interested. i don't talk about it because it drains me completely to get involved with interactions with skeptics.

Both myself and my Dominant are intuitive people. I can get a sense of what He's thinking, whether it be a glass of water, desiring me to kneel at His feet, or something that bothers Him. This is not unusual for submissives, for them to know what to do, or sense what their Dominant has in mind. He can read my eyes, can tell when my mood shifts, and knows what I am trying to say when I have trouble communicating. This is very important, especially since I have a hard time communicating. However, if the Dominant knows and understands the submissive, this isn't very unusual, either. What is weird is when He hears my thoughts in my voice from another room, even if I didn't say anything at all. Or when I say something that He was just about to say - constantly. He is very in-tune with the Universe and welcomes its guidance. He listens when the world is telling Him something; He has opened Himself to the possibility that the Universe is interactive, and that if you are receptive to the Universe, the Universe is receptive to you.
