I'm more of the poly-theistically agnostic type myself  & once you have to explain that it really just kills the mood of play. :-)
Religion is always a tricky one to get into. Too much baggage, too much attitude, too many "I'm right you're a douche" and atheists are right up there with Baptists & AA memebers. They no it all and you're an idiot.
With a D/s relationship the only faith you should be concerned with  is how much faith do you have in your subbie or Dom. That's the religion of the "scene"

Yes.

The reason you are having problem with defining religion is simply because a lot of churches these days are all about money and entertainment.  The traditional church is no more.
How your beliefs effect the lifestyle is up to you.  Religion has nothing to do with it.  The life is spirtual in its on entity.

I know the pain you are going through.  The truth is we cannot trust anyone or anything now.

Best wishes.

Oh..not nowadays. The knight templars were destoyed because of power and money.
Did you ever visit vatican city treasury? They are mainly ancient pieces..pure gold. In the old days..people gave all to the church else they would burn in hell. I think not that much changed...besides the people daring to speak up more.

Can I hear from those of you who are not atheists-(which I just consider to be anti-religion, more waste of time.) but just don't bother with religion in your D/s relationships?

Of the three of us in our relationship, Master is the only one who was raised without religion. My sister and I were both raised in Christian homes and went to Christian schools. I don't know about her, but I started abandoning and rejecting my parents' beliefs when I was 12 or 13. I don't have any active spiritual/religious beliefs of my own, and I'm okay with that. Our relationship is just fine without them. We focus on the here and now and each other. If we wanted to bring such things into the relationship, we'd talk about it and come to a compromise, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

If your going to bring up religion why not Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny.

If you are going to tell me that there is no Santa Claus and Easter Bunny, I am done with D/s and BDSM even before I have before fully immersed in it. That kind of cruelty and pain is just more sadism than I can take. However, on a more serious note. I was born Catholic, raised by a mother who became a Jehovah Witness, married a Baptist who paternal grandparents belonged to the Church of God. At that time I lived next door to a couple who went to the Pentecostal church. When I was in college, my closest friend was a Buddhist. My third husband was a man who roots were in Methodist church, became best friends with a American Muslim who was later on married a Jewish man. My sister married a Mormon, my niece a Episcopalian and my own daughter is a Pagan and Wiccan. So like most I have had the opportunity to discuss and learn a great deal about these religions as well as others. I respect all religions, and everyone's beliefs but in the end I have come right back to where I started. I have decided that Catholicism is the best choice for me at this point in my life. However I am a non practicing Catholic who relies on her own spirituality to get her through the day. And so far it is working for me. If and when I find D/s partner, I would hope religion would not be an issue for either one of us. Time will tell.
