colouredin -> opinion clash (3/13/2008 4:17:46 PM)

Ok so there are one or two posters on here that I tend to clash in terms of ideas, one i try to ignore totally because I know it will end up in a huge fight, blood my be shed, metaphorically speaking, but the other even though it has the ability to get quite nasty i dont seem to be able to stop myself. I can see it with a few other people, they just clash, there doesnt seem to be much of a reason to it just something about them winds them up. Ive noticed it a few times today. These people have almost certainly never met I know ive never met the ones I get frustrated with, and its not that I even have much of an opinion about what they are posting it STILL winds me up, I know that people sometimes just dont get on, but I really cant work it out, there are certainly ruder, more abrupt people on the site but I seem to not get wound up by them as much. Im not asking for the advice to put people on block I was just wondering if anyone else gets this feeling too?

like in the real world, personality clashes happen.  it may be as simple as that first impression - do they type in a colour you hate? do they use bold fonts and seem always to be offtopic?  do constant spelling errors irk you? chalk it up to minor annoyances and ignore them

Lumus -> RE: opinion clash (3/13/2008 4:23:34 PM)

Yes.

And then I watch this:

And suddenly...there is no anger.

Lol cheers Lumus :p

nursygirl -> RE: opinion clash (3/13/2008 4:27:06 PM)

that was hilarious Lumus!!!!!

Pyrrsefanie -> RE: opinion clash (3/13/2008 4:38:29 PM)

Constantly.

Sometimes I feel bad about it, but really, you can't help how you feel about someone.  That being said, being able to hold your tongue and be the grownup in situations like that definitely looks fantastic for you.  :)

I chalk it up to previous lives, honestly.  Two thousand years ago they probably stole one of my sheep and I'm still pissed about it to this day.

Also, Lumus... I love you a little.

CalifChick -> RE: opinion clash (3/13/2008 4:46:44 PM)

coloured - sob!  I thought you liked me!  Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Seriously, I think there are certain things that are irksome for most of us - not the same one thing - but that MOST people have something that irks them. Whether it's that someone has to joke about everything, or their posts come off as subblier-than-thou, or they are attention-seeking, or they throw off the rhythm of a thread, or whatever it is - our tolerance level for that one thing is much less than for everything else.

Cali

yeah thanks cali, i thought that maybe i was being a bit of a cow to be honest but thats pretty accurate for how i feel.

youngsubgeoff -> RE: opinion clash (3/13/2008 6:09:11 PM)

what Id really like to know is why does it matter? honestly....

BBWnNC72 -> RE: opinion clash (3/13/2008 6:15:57 PM)

i was staring at the video like a deer in headlights and then BAM. He was gone, i felt sadness.  Then i remembered about the lizard that clung to my windshield the other day while i was going 45.  And before i get "remarks" i didn't know about the lizard till i was half way home.

Oh yea, i don't care about what others think of me and i don't really let anyone else bother me. i come here to the forums for fun and once in a while i get educated or see that others have the same or simular issues that i have.

Edited to add something about the original posting. [:D]

LadyRainfire -> RE: opinion clash (3/13/2008 6:21:05 PM)

colouredin, I have a few that just get under my skin but thankfully they're few and far between. Very thankfully you're not one of them, I happen to enjoy your posts and look forward to them. I've actually finally found one poster I'm thinking of blocking but for sick entertainment reasons, am debating whether or not to block them. I think we all have those few posters that just drive us apeshit and want to make us go nuts. [:)] What we do though is up to us.

GreedyTop -> RE: opinion clash (3/13/2008 6:33:05 PM)

coloured.... ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah..I know what you mean.  I have finally had to block someone because I've been modspanked several times for my responses to that person... perhaps that person is actually a good, decent person offline, but they just seem to bring out the worst in me.
Since I enjoy the rest of you lunatics, I decided to do my best to avoid irking XI again and risk being moderated...

(although..there is that whole train wreck thing that I'm fighting against...Must..........not.............give............in....to.......the......temptation!!)

Daddysredhead -> RE: opinion clash (3/13/2008 6:49:41 PM)

Colouredin,

you are definitely not alone.  To this day, I have never blocked anyone on the boards.  There have been a few I wanted to because they were just so damn snarky and smart-assed, and seemed to have a comment on every thread just for "face time" it seemed.  I am happy to say that some of them have left the boards on their own and others have been scooted off by the Mod Squad.  (derives delicious amounts of pleasure at the latter)  There is currently at least one person who irritates me like a rash in my ass-crack, but I haven't blocked the poster, I just ignore that person.  Strangely enough, I've had others from the boards write to me and ask, "Is it me, or does ________ get on your nerves?  What a freak!!!"  I had to reply with a satisfied "Thank goodness it's not just me.  Yes, _______ is a freak."  It's the little validation that makes me smile.   [:)]

HopeLost -> RE: opinion clash (3/13/2008 6:58:40 PM)

everytime i see a post from someone who irks me i just try to think, the life they live may be far different from what they represent. i just try to ignore them and realize this is where they get to blow off steam or be the person they wish they could be.

eroticangel -> RE: opinion clash (3/13/2008 7:07:03 PM)

Sometimes i think i miss the point...i read replies that seem terribly rude and i just don't get it...if you don't like what someone says, skip their post.  Actually there have been times that i have been afraid to make a post due to the meanness i see from some people.

beargonewild -> RE: opinion clash (3/13/2008 7:14:20 PM)

Sounds like a personality clash and yea, it happens to us all! I've had that happen a few times and found that if I ignore them and not reply to any of their posts, no matter how innocent then there's no turmoil.

Aylee -> RE: opinion clash (3/13/2008 7:34:37 PM)

HA!  I know that you are all talking about me, but you cannot see this because you have me blocked!

HA HA HA

I stick my tongue out at you!

I know you Bear.  You WOULD cock-block me in a minute.

RealityLicks -> RE: opinion clash (3/14/2008 4:50:12 AM)

I feel this very strongly most times I visit this site. I believe the basis of BDSM is actually egalitarianism.  But there are a small handful of people here who's views aren't just unconventional but outright extremist.  The majority of posters prefer to overlook this and effect a friendly relationship with them.  I find anyone who does this really hard to tolerate and usually skip their posts.

The other side of BDSM, online or realtime, is that people are extra cliquey, which might have to do with the levels of trust and openness involved, I not sure.  I've never been able to stomach the scene's tendency to intimidate and ostracize people within it.  I force myse;lf  to listen to the voice that's been forced out - its normally a lot more interesting than the herd.  If I follow, I lose me.
