Aileen1968 -> Easter Dinner (3/14/2008 9:50:00 PM)

I have about 38 people coming over for Easter for a sit down dinner.
What are your plans if you celebrate?

popeye1250 -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/14/2008 9:52:17 PM)

Holy shit, 38 people?
What are you cooking? Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef?

GreedyTop -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/14/2008 9:54:42 PM)

I'll be working . . . Somehow it seems like I get to work every holiday..lol

Aileen1968 -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/14/2008 10:01:50 PM)

My Easter menu takes after my slovak side.  Ham, kielbasa, homemade pierogies, really fattening mashed potatoes, roasted and carmelized carrots, breaded cauliflower, paska.  People always bring a fantastic variety of desserts so I never even bother planning any.

Oh too bad.

Well that sounds good!
I love perogies.

My brother and sister in law are coming over...I made them Easter baskets full of junk food LOL we're gonna color eggs and stuff...hopefully I have the self control to only eat the egg whites and stay away from the candies [:)] might have an easter egg hunt...maybe...hehe we're so childish!

popeye1250 -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/14/2008 10:20:04 PM)

I'm probably not doing anything on Easter.
I live alone and there's no invites yet.
But, I might contact friends and see what they're up to.

Aileen, what kind of ham are you cooking?
I might offer to cook a spiral ham or a smoked shoulder.

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/14/2008 10:22:44 PM)

Easter isn't a big deal for my family.  I doubt there will be much going on.  When I was a kid, we used to take a Sunday road trip to a state park and have a picnic.  But I haven't really done anything special for Easter since then.

dollparts85 -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/14/2008 10:24:13 PM)

picnic in March? LOL

Well darlin', it's warm here in March.  It was 75 degrees today.  I know it's cold up there.  Y'all have my sympathy

dollparts85 -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/14/2008 11:49:37 PM)

hehe nice...doesnt get up to 75 here until like June LOL

MrSuperior -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 12:54:57 AM)

Mr. Superior says:

A truly SUPERIOR Dom will let the wench deal with the cooking - unless it's barbeque!  Perhaps if the weather is good to you, you can have an outing!

No, no need to thank Mr. Superior...the advice is just part of the job!

*wants to go to Aileens place for supper....*

LadyHathor -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 3:34:45 AM)

We don't celebrate the religious aspect as we are Wiccan, but we do celebrate the spring ritual--we start with an Easter egg hunt in the morning--then our meal is all fresh items--ham, asparagus with sauce, home made sangria with fresh juices, baked macaroni ( with NC cheese), fresh bread, blue crabs and oysters.

PrizedPosession -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 3:39:22 AM)

i used to go to my aunts but this year i am stuck here working and going to school, i even have to miss my little half brothers baptism (personally not religious but my whole mom's side is and i wanted to see everyone) so i will most likely do nothing.
-joins greedy and heads off to aileens for perogies-

I'm going to meet the rest of the family over at my sisters for what she described as a "light meal"

The last time she used the words "light meal", we could have fed half the neighborhood, but she is an awesome cook, so I'm not complaining [:)]
