Dear gary... [8\|] Mine were precious. Although they speak fluent English, sometimes they would forget and start talking to me in Sinhalese really fast and all I could do was blink-blink and finally interject with, "Umm... I'm white, and y'all done lost me." Then they apologized all over the place and realized that my comprehension was still at a kindergarten level, and not Ph.D. grade.

I love it that I went downstairs to see what was up & my sister told me I could chop some onions & I ended up making the whole meal. It was scrump-dillyisious too. We had spaghetti with pesto sauce & sauted onions & mushrooms with a lovely green salad & fresh pineapple for dessert. I had forgotten how much I love to cook & how much fun it is!!

Lol, that reminds me when at first year uni sometimes one mate at Uni and I spoke briefly German on the bus afterwards without warning others and one particular person regular needed a while to realise that she won't be able to understand us now...it was never meant bad but sometimes it is just soooooooooooo much easier to have small talk in the native language [8\|] Also sometimes, thankfully not too often, I do slip into my language and then realise again (often due to the face of the other person)...that one was the wrong drawer of the language box again...time to try again [8\|]

True! When we had a french exchange student staying with us several years ago, I had a hell of a time trying to make my brain put the correct words into my mouth when talking to her, then my ex, and then the kids and my parents. [8\|]
