Gwyn,
on her own diet of moderation in all things and being active.

I like my liver... and something that says I can get a lb of bacon.. but an Apple... oh no.. I cant eat an apple! thats just fucked.

Damn bacon sounds good about now.

Less guilt in eating them if I have to do a little work for it..........

i think it takes the exact number of calories to open them as they contain. And if you wash them down with a diet Pepsi you actually lose weight.

well said, Gwyn. Do you remember, after telling us for years that butter will kill us, it was announced that oleo contained trans-fat and we should not go near it?

Boy...can they ruin a baked potato.

Think LaT will share her PB cups?

the way I see it is I like my food like I like my women.. Au Natural... and a little fatening.

If it is fake, has chemicals in it.. is bleached.. and lifeless... I wont eat it.

That goes for both.

Gwyn

*winking furiously at LaT*

THERE is my problem!! I hate soda. Hate hate HATE soda. It's either water, tea, coffee, or wine for me! (as far as what I could drink with my lil cups here that is.....)

Gwynvyd -> RE: Is there any way to stop carb cravings? (3/18/2008 6:10:27 PM)

*chuckles* thats the Fatkins diet.. no carbs in a lb of bacon.. but *gasps* it is in Apples. So therefor apples are evil! Evil I tells ya.

Gwyn,
Off to pilfer her fridge for a granny smith

I eat A LOT of protein...yesterday I had 96 g of protein.
Are you going to listen, or no? I've seen others give you excellent advice, and you just blow them off.

That's too much protein. Women only need around 0.8 g/kg/day, or around 44-46g for a typical woman.

"High dietary protein also increases the tendency to obesity, a finding in direct contrast to the popular belief that such diets cause people to "burn off fat". Fed low-protein diets, even with ample calories from carbohydrates, obese subjects can lose weight."

(unlike many, I usually have a source for my assertions rather than talking out of my ass; the above is a college text)

christine1 -> RE: Is there any way to stop carb cravings? (3/18/2008 6:13:21 PM)

ok gwynn, you pilfer for apples and i'll pilfer for bacon and chocolate and man meat...hmmm, does man meat have carbs?

Level -> RE: Is there any way to stop carb cravings? (3/18/2008 6:13:22 PM)

Now, Atkins never said "don't eat carbs"......... and he didn't tell anyone to eat a pound of bacon (though that sounds good [8D]).

I don't even like bacon. >.< I'm not really big on meat actually...I eat chicken sometimes...and like tuna or tilapia...sometimes a little hamburger but it has tons of cholesterol and I'm kinda afraid of cholesterol.

Got a grocery store near you?  Eat underripe (green) banannas for breakfast, snack on raw potatoe, apple slices are ok.

I cannot tell if you actually mean, "excuse me," or if you are just being sarcastic and patronizing, again.

To suggest that someone seek professional advice about their health is hardly an assailable comment.  For you to be personally offended by it, I would think you would have to be a medical or nutritional expert, whose expertise was being put in question.  However, as is very clear from the discussion, here, even medical experts are accustomed to their opinions being debated, amongst themselves.

I don't personally think it's a bad idea to discuss this or other health topics with others, here, as long as the precaution Boy46 suggests is already kept in mind.  What I object to is the chilling effect that posts such as yours have on people trying to engage in the discussion.

excuse me...
I totally agree with you it is not a bad idea to discuss health related topics with others, and you unknowingly have proven my point. He stated that this discussion should not be taking place. THAT is what i had an issue with. All else he said was interesting.

And if you took what i said as sarcastic and/or patronizing, that is on you and i offer no apologies.

If your point was, as it still appears to be, that you took personal offense to a remark that was not aimed at you, and that you, in retaliation, behaved in a hostile and disrespectful manner, then I guess I did.

LaTigresse -> RE: Is there any way to stop carb cravings? (3/18/2008 6:18:48 PM)

sheesh Ron, may as well go out there with the deer and chew bark

christine1 -> RE: Is there any way to stop carb cravings? (3/18/2008 6:19:28 PM)

Ron, come to my house and eat, you won't ever want a raw potato again honey.

alrighty...it seems you want a sparring partner but my gloves are hung up for the night. If you have an issue with me then i encourage you to take it to one of the moderators and complain to them.
