I gotta ask... Profanity: Do you love it, hate it, use it, or play with it? How much or how little? Do you use the big 'bad' words, or do you use sweet words strung together obscenely? Do you use it to provoke specific emotions, or is it your main tongue of choice?

closetmonkey -> RE: Profanity... (3/18/2008 12:25:03 PM)

And because I was cheeky enough to ask, I'll even post a thought on it myself!

I'm not shy about profanity (it doesn't offend me or anything), but I do notice how over-used it is by some. I think the big nasty words start to lose both impact and meaning, if they're overused... I'm sure that's just me, though! It's how I take it.

I love hearing people use nice normal language to say profane THINGS... it shows cleverness, creativity, and WIT. (not to mention it usually betrays a keen mind in general, and a wicked streak I find very attractive!)

I think it has it's purposes for just the sake of filth, too. ;) Hearing an otherwise well-spoken and gramatically correct Master whisper into my ear "I'm going to Fuck you untill you SOB, like a broken hearted whore." has a certain thrill to it that the 'proper' words lack (what, make love to you till you feel used? huh, wait, that's not cool!) ... and the impact is greater to be called a truly profane thing, if they usually do not use those words, I think!

Ja, dunno, beats the fuck outta me. I am way to shallow to ponder on some motherfucker like that. It seems that I am more in my mileu when obstreperous.

I am a fairly well bought up girl, middle class background very BBC English accent, and I love when I swear because people look so shocked, even if its a minor word, it doesnt sound right on my lips and I like that, it can be over used but I think there is nothing better than a well placed swear word, however in a D/s context I LOVE hearing swear words dunno why I just do.

Shawn1066 -> RE: Profanity... (3/18/2008 12:32:42 PM)

I don't use profanity, except on a few occasions at my Owner's direction.  My Owner uses a bit of profanity, but it doesn't bother me.  Other people's profanity never bothers me.  I just don't like using it myself.

FRSguy -> RE: Profanity... (3/18/2008 12:34:33 PM)

I use it and I love it.
In fact I am trying to curb my profanity outside of scening around my sub so that it has a better effect on her.

Daddyslilpookie -> RE: Profanity... (3/18/2008 12:36:07 PM)

Firegoddez -> RE: Profanity... (3/18/2008 12:38:33 PM)

I find profanity is good in some situations. I get a thrill out of the profane words my Master whispers in my ear in public, and in private the graphic way he describes the things he wants to do to me. So I love the whispers of profanity, but when we argue or just talk I do not use it and, now that I think about it, neither does he.

sillyfool -> RE: Profanity... (3/18/2008 12:57:52 PM)

When people use profanities in public and in their everyday speech i find it trashy.

Sexually speaking though, profanity [when used correctly] is very hot.

camille65 -> RE: Profanity... (3/18/2008 12:58:01 PM)

It was a house rule to not use the phrase 'shut up' growing up which means swearing was totally off limits. I had a teacher who had a sign above her desk saying "Vulgarity is a crutch for a crippled vocabulary" and I love that because I find it to be often true. I don't use profanity very often. I'm not fond of it and I tend to think it is boring. It lost its shock value in my teens. It isn't clever or interesting when I hear people sprinkling their statements with profanity, in fact it is a huge turn off for me. There are so many amazing words out there to use, I love words and languages in general. There is one thing I do say.. 'fuck a duck upside down in the rain' if I stub my toe or something like that but otherwise? Nope, it is not for me. [;)]

Phin -> RE: Profanity... (3/18/2008 12:58:55 PM)

I always prefer the term, "flying fuck", myself.
