They will probably impose some restrictions (based upon US v Miller, 1939). But total ownership of a type of gun allowed will probably not happen.

I've always felt that anyone who needs the 2nd Amendment "Interpreted" for them is feeble-minded and mentally incompetent. The default option is: Freedom and Liberty.

Guns are good. I support a nearly unregulated right to keep and bear arms. I trust the vast majority of my neighbors. Two categories of people I don't trust: criminals and politicians that want to take away, or significantly regulate, the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Those are precisely the two groups that shouldn't be the only folks with guns. Personally, I think it should be an obligation of citizenship to keep and bear arms. I would make exceptions for those maintaining a pacificist creed.

I personally agree with all the above. I keep 2 weapons within reach of my desk all the time.

Note: Solicitor General Paul Clement, the Bush administration's top Supreme Court lawyer, supported the individual right but urged the justices not to decide the other question. Instead, Clement said the court should say that governments may impose reasonable restrictions, including federal laws that ban certain types of weapons. There is not reasonable restriction clause in the constitution! These fuckers are goingt o once again re-write the constitution and the idiots of this country will go duh ok! Not oly do we have the right to own but we also have the right to BEAR those guns. That means strap them to our hips and waltz around on any public grounds with them. (techinically) Somewhere in that mess they talk about the governemtn having the right and the government have NO RIGHTS! Remember the patriot act? "reasonable search and seizure"? Became bush thought it was reasonable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When will lawmakers realize criminals do not obtain guns legally so preventing people from legally owning guns does nothing to lower the crime rate. And actually the cash for guns programs make me ill, they give the people turning in these "dangerous weapons" next to nothing for them whereas if they sold the same item back to a gun shop they'd get a much better price and it wouldn't come out of taxpayers coffers.

Unlike the UK, if USA gets raided, civilians will be able to fight without the need of sword and sorcery! Pfft :P Learn the ways of magic like us druids of the spiritland lol. On a serious note, too many killings happen for me to think people handling guns without being in the military is a good idea.

I would be for gun control if I could be assured of the fact that the people I least want having guns would be controlled. I very much doubt this is the case. Ergo, I am for pretty much unrestricted gun ownership. What interests me, however, is how few genuinely empirical studies have been done on the resultant crime and violence rates in various situations of gun ownership (or lack thereof)...

I love those programs!!! I got a Mosin-Nagan for 89$ bucks and got a 100$ gift certificate for turning it in!!! Those programs rock!

I'm quite liberal, too. But I believe strongly in the Constitution and how it was meant when written down. We are the "People". We have the right, and the reason was so that we could protect ourselves from not just foreign enemies but our own damned government. The purpose was to ensure that we did not have to fear our own government as much as anything. A government that fears its population is far better than a citizenry that fears its government. "When guns are outlawed, only criminals will own guns." I will be one of those criminals come that day.
