i would post this in the gorean forum....but than i would like an answer and some responses...
i prefer not to get flamed ...so i am posting it here...

is the term "free woman"not just a play on words...

in reading ...a "free woman"lives or is married to a gorean man...
takes care of him...
has sex with him...
does what she is told.....

so is there a reason whe so called "free woman" cant admit to themselves who or what they really are?

yes this might cause some friction....but i amtruly interested in finding out others opinions.....

thank you in advance

Wow, this would be mega entertaining over in the Gore forum.
I think it's some form of being in a higher caste than a slave girl, that is just a guess as they seem to enjoy the ability to speak freely among their peers.

It refers to a Gorean woman who is not a slave.

There's no such thing as a Gorean marriage.  The equivalent is a Gorean free companionship.  She would most likely translate to 'female submissive' in a BDSM context, as Gorean women (in practice) are always expected to be submissive to men; yet not all women are slaves.  Slaves, for example, aren't expected to bear children.

I would imagine that goreans would answer this best.

In my opinion free can apply to either gender, as can slave or submissive. Many of the gorean ideals are grand, others I am not so fond of.

Y'know, I think the Goreans might be able to answer this question better than us.  That's why they have their own board.  A lot of us don't really follow Gor.  I don't for obvious reasons, but their ways are their ways and if you have a problem with it, then you should talk with them about it.  They'll be more than happy to stand up and speak for themselves.  It's what they do.

Also, there's a way to ask your question where it probably wouldn't be viewed harshly.  Also, just doing some research of your own via the fun search feature on the site and that little thing known as google might get you better results.

Trust me, from what I've seen when lurking over there it is a mistake to ask a question.  It's probably better to preface it with "after googling for one month and reading everything I can about Goreans I have this question: _____________________"  At least that way they won't accuse you of being lazy.

It's pretty entertaining over there, when they turn on each other.

In the books a free woman is free..because they allow her too (because she has vallue other then beeing a kajira). She can be taken anytime..because all females are presumed to be kajiras by nature.

(and a slave is only called kajira when owned...else she is just a slave)

Except when that female is the daughter, sister, or mother to someone else.

On Gor, Women aren't free because men allow it; most women are free because a man has a duty to protect his home and family.

You would get a more informed answer if you asked this on the gorean forum.  I have never had a problem when I have asked a question over there in the past.  Maybe the problem lays on how you ask your questions?
Why would you get flamed on the gorean forum for asking a simple question unless you have another motive behind it?  I am sure it is much easier to make an assumption and have a good laugh at the 'comical' goreans expense.  How very 'unique'.

There are men who believe in female supremacy, and don't hesitate to declare that all men should be serving women, and that women hold the 'real' power in a relationship  It's a view I respect, though clearly don't agree with.

Goreans do tend to believe that most women have the capacity to love being a slave to a strong enough man.  It's not an uncommon theme when women (and men) struggle with desires they don't feel are socially acceptable.  Gorean ideology states pretty clearly that personal fulfillment comes when you are honest with yourself, your needs, and work to achieve them fearlessly.  In essence, if a woman (or man) believes deep down they should be a slave or dominant, than that's what they should work towards.  Thus the concept of "women lying to themselves about who they really are" is one facet of many.

Oh come on, dark... Gor takes itself so bloody seriously, it can't do it any harm to have a few lost souls such as us poke a little fun at it once in a while :-) .

I can only hear "women are slaves by nature, it's the natural order" without batting an eyelid for so long... after a while, I gag with keeping all the venom in  .
