Away4Awhile -> RE: What catches your eye? (3/24/2008 9:22:18 AM)

I must admit my first glimpse of a profile is rather shallow. Location height and age will be the first things that attract me to look further. Then the photo...eyes soft brooding lost and hopeful without dispair. In a message I look for a respectful attitude that is not fawning nor comes at me with a laundry list of do me's.
Those presenting D/s based are more attractive to me than those presenting as bottoms. I am a sadist so a soft bottom will also not be a first prior to me.

Dnomyar -> RE: What catches your eye? (3/24/2008 9:23:43 AM)

Lashra I was just being sarcastic with the response. I would not expect a 100% match. So in that respect yes I would settle for less than that. I do not want a clone. The relationship has to have some challenge to it.

LadyHugs -> RE: What catches your eye? (3/24/2008 10:07:51 AM)

Dear LadyPact, Ladies and Gentlemen;

For me personally, I take in everything but, I think General George S. Patton said it best--
"If they do not look like soldiers, act like soldiers--how can they be expected to fight like soldiers."  I apply this when looking at gentlemen who wish my attention or more.

I get more information of individuals by what they do not do, then by what they do.  The ones who have passed through their fantasy and dream state and or their sexual lust state, will show through on how they present themselves in many forms, e.g. photo, posts, writing styles and how they conduct themselves--even through the most difficult times.  The respect for themselves and for the role they play in this 'modern form' of Master/Mistress-slave.

Just some thoughts.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

Madame4a -> RE: What catches your eye? (3/24/2008 10:26:17 AM)

Anything motorcycle related will always get my interest

And then:  picture is likely the first thing.... I rarely look at profiles without one -- I'm sure that isn't the best idea, but its ok for me.  In terms of the picture, I'm most likely to be intrigued by an interesting picture -- someone doing something and someone else took it, as opposed to the no shirt face taken in the computer chair shot... or the butt shot, or any other number of body parts -- and yes, someone really attractive is likely to get more than a glance but its not going to be what gets me.

After that, the words are important.  If there is no narrative in the profile, I move on.  The fill in the blank part doesn't interest me much.  Generally, at this point, any thing that isn't the normal -- "I want a mistress to use me and do this, and that, and this.  Willing to submit to anything" ... anything that doesn't resemble that will get read.  If its badly written, or the grammar and spelling are bad, I'm done.  I'm also done with words like "i want a dominate" or "consentual" ... you get the idea...

what interests me there is life outside of the computer, willingness to be open, and some idea what this life is about -- anyone who is brand new, wants to be molded, trained, or shown the ropes is not likely to interest me

I am a picky bitch

Now I'll go back and read what others have said...

DiurnalVampire -> RE: What catches your eye? (3/24/2008 10:28:06 AM)

I expect what I give. I want a well written profile, that sounds a if they took some effort and put themselves into it. I dont like something that is just a regurgitation of what they think all of us want based on the pornos they have seen. I dont like it when someone feels it necessary to refer to themselves as worthless, since I will likely agree. Someone without a lundry list of what they want done to them, an honest admitance of the experience they have or dont have and a respectful tone. A bit about what they would like to offer would be nice as well. Pictures help, though I prefer vanilla ones to over the top BDSM ones. And if someone is wearing a collar and jeans, and nothing else... im pretty much gauranteed to look twice. I am taken, I am not dead after all!

Unrepentant1 -> RE: What catches your eye? (3/24/2008 10:40:38 AM)

An evil glint in the eye always catches my attention, so the pic might help, but if the profile tells me nothing and the interests do not match if listed, there is no point bothering. No effort on the profile means no interest from me! I also like to read posts made if there are any.

mzbehavin -> RE: What catches your eye? (3/24/2008 11:05:36 AM)

I cant explain it really. Yes the pic, and a nice well done one, yet i see lots of nice pics here and dont look twice.
Its only happened to me twice in the 6 years ive been online, but its a  feeling. Like a moth to the flame i go. That said, not one of those relationships ended up going real time, though they did have a huge impact on my life at the time. So much for feelings. grins*
My real time experience taught me to look around me for reality,  my day to day life, the people in it.  Not online. If online was all i had i'd be fooked as its not been the best experience for me.
Not to say i havent made some wonderful friends online, i have. But they are friends, not lovers.

LadyJeelys -> RE: What catches your eye? (3/24/2008 2:48:56 PM)

I don't care about photos...and I figure I can teach someone grammar and spelling (after all, I have a whip)...so, I like profiles that show a sense of humor and that give a peek at a guy's personality.

marieToo -> RE: What catches your eye? (3/24/2008 2:52:20 PM)

Demeanor is everything. I don't even like to see a photo at first.  I want my other senses to feel the person out before deciding whether I find them attractive physically, because the attitude will factor into all of that.

The first things that grab me are confidence, intelligence, and a dash of arrogance thrown in for good measure.  Then if they're aggressive and stubborn on top of all that, and oppressive in their dominance,  I'm a goner.  I just love a good prick.

im looking for a sub?? sorry..but the only subs i seek are at subway...i think you read someone elses profile.

MsStarlett -> RE: What catches your eye? (3/24/2008 4:56:08 PM)

The photos that pop up on the random search for my criteria are what will make me stop and read a profile.  (I refer to the front page as my 'hunk of the day' page.)  Either a good looking man or an interesting background or just a very artistic photo will win that 2nd glance much faster than the afore mentioned 'spread eagle' shots.

I don't normally go looking for men.  I tend to let them make first contact.  When reading messages, I tend to answer that I'm looking for a man with a good imagination who can type.  This is because most of our interaction will be online, in the messages.  I like a man who is open to talking about their real lives.  If they want to talk about sex, they better be imaginative enough to write a scenario... not just "I lick u ass for hours."  *Yawn*  Yeah... I know THAT's really going to happen.  *eye roll*

The first thing I notice in photographs is a person's eyes.

Also, finding out that they're military men helps.  If they think they've been to boot camp they ain't seen nothing yet...

...I cackled again.  Ow.

Hopefully boot camp is a camp where Domina`s all wear.....Boots.

What catches my eye ? Several things really, brains, humour and a pretty smile.

Let's suppose for a second that you only have this electronic connection to pique your interest.  I'd be curious to hear what those things are that get your attention through the screen.  Is it something in particular that you see in a picture?  Is it a commonality that you see in a profile, such as a particular kink?  Is it a phrase that you use often that you see someone else use in their writings?  Is it an attitude?  Is it their location?

OK.  That's enough options.  I'm interested in that thing that reaches out and grabs you through the world of CM.

A witty, self-assured female poster catches my attention. Not dismissive or defensive, poised but not aloof. Direct but not brusque.  The reptilian part of my brain is instantly diverted by photos including cleavage.

A profile that includes a well developed general philosophy indicating experience and well-roundedness is nice. I very much like to see photos of women that are smiling or laughing. Confident women sporting human foibles attract me more than Goddesses hurling thunderbolts.

I think my ratio of posts : apologies is hovering around 1:1

Please forgive me, I was assuming again. The hovertext on your pic says "GreetingsLooking for a well experienced female..." and my brain finished the sentence incorrectly. You are female posting on the mistress forum therefore you must be looking for a sub. Right? Wrong.

A very wise person once wrote that assumptions are limiting :-)

FWIW,  I also am a fan of boobies and long hair. I like straight dark-dark brown hair.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: What catches your eye? (3/24/2008 5:19:59 PM)

yes anyone can post in any part of the forums.  thats what makes it fun.

Rockbound -> RE: What catches your eye? (3/24/2008 5:54:27 PM)

This thread is very interesting reading.

I think a common element in all the posts is that everyone wants to be able to get some sense of the person behind the profile. This can come through the narrative as well as through the list of interests. I guess it would be safe to sum up the advice by saying that you should be yourself in your profile and make it clear what you're really seeking.

Coming from the other side of the fence, so to speak, that's what I look for when browsing Domme profiles. I like to get an introduction to the person holding the whip, as well as what she wants to do with the whip!

And the profiles addressing male subs as "you worthless worm" are a complete turnoff. As others have said, why would anyone want to play with a worthless worm? I think both partners in a BDSM session should have pride in themselves and respect for each other.

Ghod!  I'm a sucker for dark hair and blue eyes.  Damn.  That just get's me wet.

I need to go look at pics of my New Yorker...

PsyVamp -> RE: What catches your eye? (3/24/2008 6:15:31 PM)

It is usually the picture that I see first.. him / her, it doesn't matter...
A natural pose, without pretense or overt promises of sex
Sex is entirely too easy, and not my primary focus at the moment.
A well written profile, using grammar and punctuation.
A well written profile using spaces instead of an unreadable paragraph.
Then I check for posts here.
I check for some commonality.
The email response is next, one liner or a complete thought/question/explanation...
Confidence without arrogance.
