For me it's a clear, concise profile with out a lot of pretentious fluff. I don't want to read a novel about a person's long, spiritually enlightening journey through the world of BDSM *gag*, and I don't want to read bad poetry. I like a sense of humor, so I like to see that. But if the profile is nothing but one joke or sarcastic remark after another, I am probably going to assume the person is a flake, rude, obnoxious, or full of themselves. I certainly don't want to read an advice column in a person's profile. A person who thinks they are the expert and rule maker on all things kink is a turn off.

Essentially, I just want a general idea of who you are, what you want, where you want it, and if you're approachable. We can discuss the details after we get to know each other. I don't even bring up kink when I first talk to someone, and I don't like it shoved in my face when I first talk to someone either. I think that's tacky and I don't do it. Small talk is a good thing; it gives you an idea about whether you should proceed or not.

Photos are great. I can't give a preference on what I want to see. It's different with every person. Some women look wonderful in leather and accompanying accessories. Some women look ridiculous. I can't really say what I like. It changes with every woman, and I know it when I see it.

In a photo: Class, then confidence.
In a profile: Education and experience. I live in a world of words. A slave who is from another world will miss half the cues and fail to delight. At least, that has been my experience.

As a photographer, I get a lot of information from photos that many other people either wouldn't notice or would receive only subconsciously. I don't look at profiles at all if they don't have a photo, and I learn a great deal about someone from the photos they choose to represent themselves--including whether they have professional modeling experience, in some cases!

I appreciate all sorts of human beauty and character, so there isn't a single prescription that works for me. I suppose the one thing I look for more than anything else is a positive attitude. I am too old to drink poison for pleasure, and negative people really are draining to be around.

Through her profile I want to see

        Does she know who "she" is. Not what she thinks a domme should be. Who she is.

        Has she really thought about what she's looking for? Does her self esteem come through with confidence? Does a photo reflect this confidence? I like to read her posts, journal, etc. I find it attractive to see healthy exchanges, maybe even disagreements with other women in particular.

        Is she a woman, not a just little girl in a woman's body?

        Is she realistic? Does she realize that D/s is just part of life. Not all of it.

       I read some of the profiles and find that online first impressions, distance, timing, chemistry, etc, make it a very interesting journey. It's all too easy to settle if you don't have a very good basis for trying to connect with someone.

What caught my attention on Mistress's profile was a combination of things. The first thing is obvious. She is absolutely beautiful with those luscious, glossy black lips in such a saucy pout on the first pic of Her profile. She looked so sweet and innocent. The second pic shows She has more evil in Her than you are led to believe!!! ***drools*** I loved the fact She is gothic, too. ***drooling again***

I'm not a stickler for too much in a pic, but I like to see a woman that takes some pride in her appearance. Don't look like you just rolled out of the gutter and snapped a pic with a cell phone. The first pic doesn't have to be a crystal clear one, but something to show you in a good light. The rest of the pics should show the real you in a natural setting...outdoors, hanging with friends, enjoying a non-BDSM hobby, or something like that. A pet peeve is a woman who has one face pic and either 12 of her feet/shoes or toy collection! Ugh!!! I could care less how many floggers, canes, cuffs, or gags you have! Another pet peeve is please learn how to spell and form proper sentences. Everyone spells a word incorrectly at times and punctuation can be tricky at times, but don't write your profile with the "hukt onn fonix" dictionary. Any mention of tribute, finances, or money will be an instant turn-off, too.

In Mistress's profile, the rubber fetish interest was in the "Lives For" column, so that immediately piqued my curiosity. It is a fetish that I hold dear, so it is so wonderful to have found a domme that is just as obsessed with the rubber fetish as I am...maybe even more!

The last thing I looked for was the fact Mistress is on the plus-sized side. I am very attracted to plus-sized women and Mistress stated She was 5'4" and 180 pounds. Instant attraction on that fact. Her profile was brief, but still well written, too. Combine that with She is "plush" and "skishy" on top of being dominant, beautiful, gothic, and rubber-obsessed made for all the initial attraction I could hope for.
