I have a pair of floggers I'm quite enjoying and if I wanted to post a toy collection it would probably be of them and a few other leather restraints, but honestly I don't have a great need to do so.  If people want to see my toys, just ask.

I agree.  I guess it would be cool if I were just looking for someone just to train, but since I'm looking for a very long term relationship I'd rather know about the man first.

Actually for me a bunch of toys lying on the bed is kind of dull.   I do like the ones that show their dungeon or chambers.  I love to steal their ideas...lol   Some have really good rooms and they use some things that I wouldn't have thought of.

Greetings,
I don't mind a tasteful or artistic toy photo but I really don't like to be overwhelmed<yawn>by the whole damn toychest. One or two pics can give me a touch of insight into the types of play someone might enjoy.
My toybag is ridiculously full. Many are gifts, some I bought myself. I am looking for a good matched set of floggers and then I think I'll be done for a while. I keep my own toys because I have health concerns and don't wish to take the chance of getting blood on someone else's favorite flogger or whip.
Being single, I only get casual play at parties right now. I'm glad to have a nice variety of impact instruments that can be used on me if one of my Toppy friends feels like they need a workout....smiles.

Pretty every dom owns a flogger, collar/cuffs, some assorted dildoes, a paddle  etc so pictures of the usual collection  items really do not do a whole lot for me  but does not me know that you may have a serious interest in certain types of play or the intensity of your play, for example if most of the floggers run along the lines of rawhide barbed wire or chain  I can assume you may like to play more intensely than I do, or your collection may consist mostly of stuff for medical play or pet play so it can have its benefits as well in seeing

Maybe  I am an oddball but seeing an unusual toy can get the imagination fired up...and even peak the curiousity.

So for a sub that may enjoy unusual play or toy use  owning and putting up a picture of  an uncommon toy/apparatus  a dom has, could create interest or attraction, or at least become a conversation starter that could lead to something or like someone else suggested a pic of a  personal dungeon could help to draw in the right sub for you.

Please, never be sorry for contributing in any forum in which you feel you have something to say. Most people read and post in more than one of the forums. The forum headers are more to organize the type of posts rather than limit who will post and answer.

My personal feeling is that anything can not be disinfected and made sterile should be owned by the submissive. This includes leather goods as they absorb fluid even when the person being struck does not bleed. My collection is for use on my husband only, but I have lent objects that can go through a sterilization process to a trusted friend. Right now a friend has one of my anal speculums on long term loan. We never used it and I have access to a medical professional who will autoclave it when it is returned, so I see no problem with it.

I agree totally. I get ideas from everywhere and some of the best toys are custom made and you do NOT see them on the toy sites. You have to contact the person who displays them and find their source. I've been lucky enough to acquire two great toys this way. Speaking of unique, the one you posted is one I've not seen before. I love it! It's one of those things that could be explained away in a vanilla setting. (Like our spanking bench..  People look at it the first time they're in the house and ask what it is.. I say it's for my back [I'm known to have back problems] and nothing more has to be said. They no longer question it.) I'd stick some off season clothes in it or some blankets and viola... extra storage. LoL

I particularly love it when the photo entails several gaudy leather floggers and silvery gizmos hanging off drywall by tacks or screw hooks, or spread across a carpet floor, surrounded by stacks of records and dirty laundry. Hot!

If you really have to display your "arsenal," at least have the class to create a rack specifically for this in mind. I personally see no reason for a person to have so much junk to begin with.

Ok, so I now understand having some toys in your profile if they are unique or have an emotional significance.  That all makes sense to me.  Also, if you sell or make your own toys, I totally want to see them :)  Also, picture of dungeons, as some people mentioned, are good for inspiration or idea stealing too.  [:D]

Clothes do not a Man make, nor do toys maketh a Dominant.

If they are a pro-Top advertising their dungeon and toys for hire then I see a point in such pictures otherwise, personaly, I think such have rather missed the point.

Like those who turn up to clubs with a 'skirt of many floggers' and about £2000 worth of toys on display about their person and walking carefuly to avoid toppling over it and going down in a tangled heap *g*

But then I am a lifestyler and it is the Dynamic which is important to Me (toys and play are an oft enjoyed addition rather than the core focus), other folks on here maybe only interested in play, in topping and bottoming.... it may seem more relevant to such.

Doesn't bother Me, just amuses Me. Clubs, the scene, sites such as this one.... all are large enough to accomidate D/s AND playbunnies, so there is really little problem.

I'm going to agree with the majority of the responses on here and add one more to it.  I don't get into the whipping and flogging so much as I do the bondage so seeing a percussion implement collection does little for me plus, I've browsed so many online bdsm sites... they're old-hat to me.

The things I would love to see more of are dungeons and custom furniture/devices.  I'm always on the prowl for more ideas of things I can build. 

Something else I like seeing in profile pics is fetish wear especially the shiny variety.  I know many of you could care less about those things, but I suppose I'm shallow and the shop-a-holic in me wants to see what is out there for sale that I may have missed and the raccoon in me is attracted to shiny things (pvc and latex).
