TeachMeTonight -> What's In a Nick? (3/25/2008 1:12:02 PM)

OK, I admit it, I am fed up with some of the nicks I see on Collar Me.  So I thought I would come up with a few pointers on choosing a nick for yourself.

1) Your nick is not the headline for a personal ad, so please don't use things like sub4domme as a nick.
2) Your nick is the first impression you give someone, so don't make it a negative one, like IWannoDoYou.
3) Your nick should say something meaningful about yourself, for instance reflect an interest, something important about your character, or if all else fails something that is actually a name, nickname, or other word you would like to be called.  I don't want to address you with your nick if it's `Fucker for instance.
4) Be careful about using titles, especially when you are new to the scene.  You are not a master the day you arrive in the kink scene.  You may have dominant tendencies and aspire to being a master, but without a lot of learning and experience, you are not there yet.
5) Try to choose a nick you can live with for years, if you are here for the long haul it gives you more credibility to not have your nick change a dozen times along the way.
6) If you do have a title in your nick, i.e GoddessABC, don't expect people to use it, be prepared to be known as ABC as well as GoddessABC.

Hmmm, any other ideas?

are you meaning actual nick names or screen names?

akisha -> RE: What's In a Nick? (3/25/2008 1:14:56 PM)

Thank you oh great and powerful Oz.   [:'(]

I nick name is an individual thing, if someone wants to call themselves DomdorkofOz they can, if you don't like it. Don't read it.

Why does it have to be something that last for years? Some people change screen names, scene names and nick names weekly if they choose.

OsideGirl -> RE: What's In a Nick? (3/25/2008 1:22:12 PM)

Gee, I'm so sorry that my "nick" doesn't meet your approval.

sweetwenchie -> RE: What's In a Nick? (3/25/2008 1:22:18 PM)

subtee... you have a considerable pecker? [sm=tongue.gif]   can i see it??

chaosforge -> RE: What's In a Nick? (3/25/2008 1:22:32 PM)

a person has no say over what others call them. that's what a nick name is, something others call you besides your given name. okay Dom/mes can make that call, but only in the correct setting or tpe. if Lord Boss of Everything is called Mr.BossyNose by his mom, he can't do a thing about it.
people get to pick their screen names, that freedom is their's.

Ditto.  So sorry we didn't reference the one true way before deciding what to call ourselves.

I agree people can pick their own Screen names or Nicknames .. but I admit sometimes I do wonder what they were thinking when they did so...... lol

sweetwenchie -> RE: What's In a Nick? (3/25/2008 1:25:45 PM)

mnottertail -> RE: What's In a Nick? (3/25/2008 1:28:03 PM)

Well, exactly what is in a nick?

I think today we had several 'Mod11throwmyassoffthesitemyfirstday', but they used other nicks so as not to interfere with one another; community, c'mon!!!! you know....

Well, I had thought of  "EveryWomanWantsToServeHim" but you know, I'd still be sitting here by myself.

ok its obvious you two don't have enough to do----LMAO

well though I agree that one doesn't have to read them, when they come in emails, I do have to admit it gets pretty old--I feel at times in CM nicks I am playing the same game I play with those personalized license plates:

istrp4js

l82thg8

hnk4hvn

and straight out of My inbox:

Ditto that. I admit I also find it entertaining when people mispell the items in their s/n.
 I particularly like when people confuse "dominate" with "Dominant"

TeachMeTonight -> RE: What's In a Nick? (3/25/2008 1:30:51 PM)

LOL, part of my point :)

OmegaG -> RE: What's In a Nick? (3/25/2008 1:35:00 PM)

it's all part of the weeding process.
